Why don't we keep him then? If he's talented surely it's worth continuing. Look at Luke Shaw.
Luke Shaw has had 1 decent season in a position we had virtually no replacement for him or even good competition.

Martial's position is stacked as it is. His PT isn't going to get any better.

In my opinion you don't get rid of talented players unless you really need to. That's how you build a squad and add depth (see City).

Except city usually get the best out of their players and when they can't, they jettison them (see Sane).

Edit: And also, they don't have the budget issues we do.

City can afford it though. Can we? I mean selling Mata and co. aren't going to get us squat. I'm crazy but i'd rather keep Lingard than Martial since Martial will fetch more and we have Greenwood.

What a ridiculous analogy. On a separate note, we get our pants taken down all the time.

Back to the topic, my point being, we know Dortmund won't accept any less, they have already proven that. If we are going to overpay like crazy, 5m doesn't seem like enough to haggle over and potentially drag this on any longer than it needs to be when Sancho could be figuring out the logistics of the move and getting settled as soon as possible.
€5m is €5m however you dress it up. You don't just throw it away if you don't have to.

I don't know can we? We shouldn't obsess over these things. I see everyone bring up the 250k wages when talking about Martial. So what. Our wage bill is less than that of City, Liverpool and Chelsea now and 250k, whilst alot, isn't as bad as it was several years ago when you consider they're are players getting double that price.

If only I could figure it out, I'd probably apply for Ole's job. May as well...
I just wondered what your thoughts were as you seemed adamant that Martial will succeed when he leaves United?

City get plenty of players that don't work out. Why do you think they've spent so much money. Pep has bought two keepers, numerous full backs, centre halves. Literally bought Valdes then had to replace him with Ederson, Danilo, Otamendi.. there's lots.

It’s getting closer and closer. It’s actually getting incredibly close. Extremely close. Very very close indeed.

Can see how Pogba felt all those years ago when he was being told how close he was and then had Rafael and Fabio starting in midfield.
Wrong thread? What’s the relevance to Sancho?

Well i agree with your premise. I'd much rather have martial on the bench than daniel james. Fecking owners are treating the club like a mid table club.

So are we going to play him on the right, left or through the middle. There seems to be an awful lot of him coming off the left where we seem to have an overload

I think well start next season with

----------------Cavani--------------------

--Sancho----------------Greenwood---

---------Bruno-----------Pogba-----------

-----------------Fred/Mct-----------------

with Rashford getting surgery.

I’d keep Martial around for another season unless we get a offer too good to refuse, which is massively unlikely.
I think that it would be mistake to do this. If he is nor part of our plans move him on. Between using up wages and taking minutes of Amad etc it would be of no benefit. I always look at players like this and ask will he come back to haunt us with Martial I don't see it.

If Amad can't earn minutes against Martial then why do we want to give him minutes?
