I think in general we have been severely underated this tournament, given the route we got anything but a semi would have been less than we should.

What can you say? We were clearly second best in both quality and energy levels, but still managed to make a game out of it.

I would much have preferred to lose to a quality goal though. Somehow losing to the rebound of a really soft penalty just makes it so much worse.

All in all, the team has done us proud. Great tournament from the lads. Just need to keep our heads high, because this team should qualify and make it out of the group stage in the next World Cup.

Beautiful run to the semis. Ran out of steam in this game. Borderline the better team in the first half, legs fell to pieces in the second half, and by extra time they were barely walking anymore. The sequence of passing near the end of extra time with Denmark barely even attempting to get the ball back said it all. Nothing left in the tank.

Absolute heroes of this tournament. They deserve all the praise for the way they carried themselves over the last few weeks.

Did well and played well. Just looked exhausted by the end of the 90min.

No team in particular.
Denmark got robbed man.

How can the ref give that penalty after reviewing it with Var?

Danes just got robbed, UEFA wanted England in the final at all cost.

From an England point of view Vestergaard annoyed me today. Somehow he seemed to get his giant frame in front of everything in the box! Weird player to watch, moves awkwardly but then the actual passes that come out are quite impressive.

Loved their performance for most of the first half but was really disappointed in their tiredness in the second half; given the circumstances I guess that's understandable. The set pieces were the only way they were going to nick the game and it was disappointing that they were so poor on that front.

Penalty was blatant cheating but it would have been incredibly undeserved if they'd won. A good tournament overall though.

Anyone on the Dolberg and Damsgaard subs...anyone?! :nervous:

Southgate would get crucified if he made a call like that and England lost, plenty of us giving him stick for taking Grealish off after all.

They've been building into being a good team for 4-5 years. All their players play top division in the big leagues now etc.. Good side, we screwed them tonight. Proper good side. Above the likes of Germany in the world rankings on merit.

Feels raw at the moment. Commiserations mate. This probably ranks as the second best tournament since 1992. Utterly memorable and it feels like this is just the start of something.

Looking forward to watching this team in the world cup qualifiers in a couple of months.

Don’t think it was a mistake to take off Damsgaard for Poulsen. He looked exhausted to me and Poulsen is the type of player bring on - fast, strong and lots of fight.
Taking of Dolberg was a bit too defensive in my opinion, but who is to say we would have made it through 90 mins. without Nørgaard in midfield?

Felt like we could have used Cornelius, I mean probably would have made 0 difference in the end, but no one had any chance to collect the long balls

Felt oddly out of character to revert to more long balls without putting our only striker on who had any remote, very remote, chance of duelling Maguire and Stones

I could see logic in bringing Poulsen on with his workrate and runs he makes but he had no good throughballs to work with so was easily nulified by England defence.

Braithwaite pretty much out of his depth in this game. Probably should've put Cornelius on to try to get a free kick or two around the box but lost count of your subs near the end and being down to 10 men basically ended the game for you guys in any case wheneveer that happened (Matterface predictably had no idea who even went off).

Can't imagine what mood is like in Denmark tonight. Seeing a cheat like sterling cheat that way and winning.

Of course frustration with the penalty, but also an understanding that England were the better side overall (clearly).

And then just pride that we managed to get this far by playing quality football. This team has given us so many great moments in the tournament - that’s what I will eventually remember from Euro 2020.

Proud of the team.

Disgusting of the English fans to boo our anthem after the Eriksen incident, hope they get battered in the final.

Soft penalty, and obviously a wrong decision if nothing else for the two balls on the pitch.

That said, they were the better team on the day and won on merit. Fair play, even though that's not something England practice.

They've booed every national anthem throughout. Its a really strange nationalist anger that manifests among so many when supporting England.

Booing a national anthem is poor taste in itself but to have the audacity to boo this Danish side after what they've been through is just despicable. Bunch of classless halfwits, hope they'll all suffer heartbreaks in the final.

Feck me. What a team. What a mentality.

They've been outstanding to a man and as a unit.

That first game could have derailed the whole tournament. Their attitude following has set the tone for all involved.

I hope Eriksen recovers as best as possible, and cannot wait to see these at another tournament again soon. Absolutely brilliant.

To be fair, the only good thing to come out of Denmark is Ole Gunnar Solksjaer.

If it wasn't for Ole, Denmark would be utterly pointless.

They should be proud of themselves. From the brink of getting knocked out in group stages to play in semifinals is remarkable. They have some good talents also coming so they do have an exciting future ahead.

Interestingly which countries would you say do practise fair play ? (Assuming you mean England don’t due to Sterling diving)

Incredible achievement for a nation with the population of Denmark to get that far. They were a good watch through the tournament too. A few players will be on some big clubs radars.

I was mainly referring to the fans there, sorry if I was being unclear, I'm a bit salty and bitter. Don't have anything bad to say about the English players.* Sterling was probably searching for that penalty but again, who wouldn't in that situation. Wouldn't call it a dive, and it was probably a 50/50 call that could have gone either way.

*Okay, if you're pushing me I would say Kane spent more time lying down than running but we all know he's a bit of a cheat.

Yh it honestly makes me cringe so much, it’s so frustrating that most of our fans who follow the team to these games behave like that. I don’t know why these people always seem to feel the need to be extra nationalistic and somehow that manifests as a weird hatred of anything non-English in the situation

Genuine cringeworthy stuff.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

Dolberg was odd.. been pretty good this tournament and looked ok tonight.

Not sure why Delaney stayed on.

It'll hurt (players and fans) for a while but they did well to get to a semi and while penalty decision was poor (i m o), if it hadn't been for Southgate's/players caution, England could've had 3 or 4 by the end. Right team won in the wrong way?

your point about kane is interesting, I remember feeling Kane was our best player precisely because of all the free kicks he was winning for us, it felt like the first ‘captains performance’ I’ve seen of him in an England shirt and wouldn’t argue it’s because he was playing more street wise and going down east, which I think is needed in tournament football - ask the Italians!

The routine Damsgaard, Dolberg subs after 60 mins or so is so bizarre. Particularly when Braithwaite gets to stay on the pitch. Not like they're blessed with an abundance of talent on the bench..

A man nearly died on the pitch and they were robbed over a dive to get them into the final...

Yeah, killed their spark immediately. Many on here saying only one team trying to win the game, but prior to those subs they were the better team.

Damsgaard was knackered and generally looks like a player who still needs a bit of fitness in order to perform over 90 minutes. Dolberg getting subbed looked a bit weird on the day but it worked well against Czech Republic and Hjulmand's ruthlessness in terms of getting fresh legs on the pitch has been important to us throughout the tournament.

Robbed, and to make it worse, by a team that has had every advantage in the book since the start of the tournament. They’ll go out with their heads held high.

As for England, they showed their limitations and desperation today. Italians are very savvy and the masters of the dark arts, it’s going to be hard to pull the same trick again.

What were they robbed of exactly?
