Tough crowd in here.

Shapovalov played very well, was never a 3-0. 15 unforced errors in 37 games is just being completely solid.

Shapovalov was the youngest semifinalists of a Grand Slam in 12 years and he played great tennis, failed in the crucial moments but it’s Djokovic, he’s done that to all kinds of players.

The two best players at this tournament will meet in the final, should be great as Djokovic will be the favourite but he’s going to need to be a lot better than what he’s shown in the past few matches

I find it infuriating tbh. None of them can even get close. Poor.
It has nothing to do with them and everything to do with how the big three have over time consistently defeated their opponents mentally, which then resulted in them making enough errors to lose. Today was no exception.

Shapo played remarkably well given that he was up against the #1 player in the world, who is also probably the greatest tennis player ever.

I thought Shap played well, very promising signs (like many others) it’s just we are yet to see someone with the mental strength required to beat Djokovic on the Grand Slam stage.

Shap couldn’t make it count in the important moments and was at times poor against some of Djokovics 2nd serves.

Quite often when Djokovic isn’t playing his best, he’ll sit back and keep it basic by just returning the ball with few big shots, essentially waiting for his opposition to make the risky shots and miss, works every time and it gives the impression to his opponent that he just can’t be beaten, at which point the pressure and mental strength no longer coordinate and eventually they crumble

Ah Sabalenka is a screamer. Havent seen one of those for a while feels like.

I've tried grunting while hitting a slice backhand, but it never seems to increase spin.

Loved how Novak screamed into the crowd after the final set break of serve and they barely increased their noise. They all think your a cnut mate.

Haters gonna hate.

Barty a set up and serving for the set. Got broken though and now in a tense tie break.

Both players were nervous at times. Barty is a great champion and a true sportsperson.

Happy for Barty, who if I'm not mistaken is a United fan :)

Felt a bit for Plishkova who was so nervous at first. Wish her the best for the rest of the season.

Says that on her wiki page but she's an Aussie Rules fan big time. She even admitted on centre court last week that football has little interest for her.

Pliskova is one lovely person too, shame she had to lose but she needs to get that monkey of her back of losing finals.

A journo here in Aus made a comment about her being a Liverpool fan :(

Not sure what to think about today's final. Hoping it's competitive as I expect Novak to win, but would like to see a nice match from a neutral point of view.

Don't want it to be straight sets. At least four will make it feel like it's final worth watching.

Yeah Pliskova is class. Reached the semis of two slams and the finals of two others, hope she gets her first victory soon.

As for today just hope for some high quality tennis. If Berretini is serving well it should be fun but if he has an off day with his first serves, Djokovic will cruise.

Berrettini was literally schooled by Fed at previous Wimbledon, back in 2019. it was barely an hour long match and in general he doesn't have good record against the big three (0 wins), but he obviously improved in meanwhile so I doubt we'll see something similar today. for him to stand any chance, the bare minimum is not to lose his head even if he lose the first set in stupid fashion like Shapo and collapse. he also has to hope Djokovic will play below his best, just like against Shapo.

FFS Berrettini. Was hoping for a good game, but I doubt it's gonna be close now.

Berrettini having a bit of a mare. Novak started as poorly on serve as he possibly could in his first two service games yet he's 4-1 up already.

Yeah was visibly super nervous resulting in 3 double faults but Berrettini let him off the hook there and now pays for it.
