Quite worrying if our first team players didn't arrive soon enough for pre season.

Decent game, and showed some of our highly rated youngsters are still far off from this level.

There we go, quality finish Elanga.

Looked better since we made the 2nd batch of changes.
While that may partly be due to QPR changes I feel a lot of it is due to the youngsters. Particularly elanga and Shoretire.

Much better from the youngsters. How long has Andrea Pereira plays football? How can a Brazilian be so bad with the football. I think Elanga deserves Cup and some games when the season start. Looks like a proper player in Utd shirt.

I know Elanga missed a couple of clear cut chances today, but I really like the look of him.
Looks a real danger doesn't he? Was impressed. He was clearly a bit nervous at the start and had some heavy touches but looked much better in the final 20mins. Took his goal very well.

Let us hope we at least gained fitness and that we can build on the performance with more first team players back. The youngesters did alright though. I think it was the senior players and the collective play that lacked.

None of those 6 players are worthy of being in a United squad. And we've known that about most of them for 2-3 years now.

How many pre seasons of seeing Lingard and Pereira is this now? Third or fourth.
Who cares? It's clear most of them won't be used, as they weren't last season.
You're losing your shit over nothing.

Doom has already set in because our youth team lost to a full strength Championship team.

Must be fun at parties
Parties are overrated

Nice twist of post, when I've clearly targetted criticism on our senior/2nd string players. Now it's our 'youth team' loss?

Whatever agenda you want to bring. I thought our youth played far better than the 2nd string players, and that is worrying.

Why can't people just enjoy watching our young lads giving it a go?

I remember when you had to read the score of a pre- season friendly the next day in the paper
Exactly. Some of the lads gave a good account of themselves. We actually played some really nice football in that last half an hour when we had the most kids on the pitch.

Elanga our best player by miles despite a couple of poor touches and some poor finishing.

Chelsea (the saviours of football) fan.
It's a pre-season friendly and you barely had any first teamers, results are irrelevant.

That being said, I am asking for permission from the sensible Man United fans to wind up the idiots who are moaning about the result. You know they deserve it!

We had a strong team out there, bar pellistri and mengi the rest are first teamers with bags of experience.
Shows the lack of depth in the squad, yes only a friendly but we're Man Utd and you play to win everytime you wear the badge.

Looking for Eric
What we already know Matic, Pererra, Williams, James, Tuanzebe not good enough as back up players. Some promising cameos from our younger players and they seem to have some basic understanding of playing together.

Ole is just not good enough. These games just show it. Weaker teams often have it too easy against us when we miss the superstars. That is on the manager rather than the player.
Yes I know the results do not matter here, but we are not playing well enough as a team with the players we got.
Okay dear

The young players played better.

Garner looks average sadly, I expected more from him. Levitt looked good, always showed for the ball. Elanga was fantastic. Dont think Hugill will make it, looks bang average. Shoretire, Galbraith and Mjebri looked bright but still need to develop more.

Elanga, Pellistri, Levitt, Williams and Garner need loans. Pereira, James and Lingard need to be sold.

Only if you agree that Champions League's don't mean much if you don't win your domestic league the same season.

I guess I am new to this forum so I don't know much about individual posters but my god, the extent to which some people seem to be rattled by this essentially meaningless game (save for fitness) makes me think it's the first pre-season they've watched.

I thought the second half was actually quite good from the youngsters, save for that 5-6 min spell when QPR scored 3 goals. Dominated the ball and created some good moments too. Elanga, in particular, looked very sharp. The player who most disappointed me today was AWB, who looked like he didn't look like he wanted to expend too much effort.

Yeh that's partly my point. Getting rid of deadwood actually has nothing to do with Ole whether it's successful or not.

Our club is just abysmal at setting values for our own players, giving contracts out like candy that are typically double or triple their market value, from De Gea all the way down to players like Williams and Tuanzebe.
This is 100% one of our biggest problems and isn't something that can be solved overnight. Really annoys me when I hear people saying to pay whatever it takes, then you have this problem down the line. Phil fecking Jones is on an absolute bomb.

We also need to not hang on to some of our youth players so long.... If it is clear they aren't gonna make the grade well them whilst they still have value.

CAF: Everything Must Be A PR move!

Rinse and repeat ad infitum.

I’ll wait to see how Ole starts the senior squad before criticising
You believed that Bruno had said he wanted to leave if Pogba doesn't sign a new contract. No wonder they can keep making stuff up.

That was not a strong team and maybe two of them were first teamers.

Winning is nice but it's not very important in Pre-season. The players will learn more from losing.

Totally agree. Ole needs to tell their agents to find them a new club. I rather play the youngsters and hope some setup to take their mins.

Imagine if Elanga and Hugill had finishes these huge chances. Instead QPR showed high effiency and went up to 4-1 quick. Only really bad performances has been from Pereira and Williams. Not surprised about Pereira, but sad to see that Williams look miles off the player two seasons ago.
Couldn't agree more.

I'll give you a helping hand here.

4 - 2 = 2
Haha

Sensational would have seen him burying the 1 on , and finishing the other opportunity. He's raw but has abiity.
Agree to disagree. I am more impressed by his touch, dribbling, attacking intent than worried by his missed chances

Not sure if I'm a sensible united fan but you are a sensible Chelsea fan. Go right ahead

The senior players should all be very sheepish after today's game. Yes, it was only an exhibition match. However, to my eyes, we looked much better once we went pretty much full youth+Mata.

Lots of mistakes from a lot of players with a lot of senior experience. Not much anyone can be proud of.

For the likes of Elanga, yeah the lad made a few errors, but he's not supposed to be a leader in this type of match. Plus he still scored eventually.

For a lot of players all this match did is lower the fee any buying club might be interested in paying.

PS) Levitt looks ahead of our other midfielders. Going to Croatia maybe not as crazy as it seemed.

I have more concerns about low quality of the brodcaster than our performance today. Can't believe I had just subscribed for this.

Conceding 4 goals even in pre-season against a championship side isn't really great preparation no matter how you dress it up or play it down
Don't think anyone's praised them for conceding 4 have they? There's a difference between genuine criticism and using a preseason game for agenda posting.

Giving Pereira a contract of £50k a week, Williams £65k a week is simply a crime against humanity.
