Erm, we're not though. Last year even with Covid Chelsea made a £32.5 million profit. We just spent £100m on Lukaku but also made nearly the same amount in player sales. When we splashed out on Havertz, Werner etc it was after our transfer ban so we'd had a gap to build up a transfer pot. The days of everything coming out of Roman's pocket is long past.
Didn't Roman put nearly 250 million pounds?

Wasn't that mainly down to player sales? that's not reliable every year.

Chelsea certainly do a great job of selling off squad players though that's for sure.

Athletic and Forbes reported that Roman put 250 million into the club just 2-3 years ago.

We could be Roman withdrawing funds away from going bust and it would still be extremely rich fans of a club who's birth (as their current name) was as unorganic as it gets banging on about it.

I mean don't get me wrong, I've got no issues with it infact good on you for building on your break(s) to become what you are but people trying to claim you've got where you are completely organically is laughable.
Well we are. We weren’t saved and became the biggest club in the world in the resulting few weeks?
Nobody is saying a club can’t get into financial difficulty etc, football over 100 years has many twists and turns. The sport didn’t have the safeguards it has now. If you’re in danger of going broke ala Barca then you’re a dickhead, quite frankly
There’s a difference between that and becoming somebody’s pet project who pumps billions into the club to outstrip others who took decades of build to get to where they are.

Ahhh yes the £2500 investment by a local businessman in 1908.

That is exactly the same as Roman and his billions...

You really got us with that one.

They get rid of them while they still have value, unlike United who continue to offer extensions to players who have long gone past their shelf life.

You're very naive if you think it was just one lump investment.

Unless ofcourse you're telling me you think you went from near extinction to fully self sufficient at the click of the finger?

Anyway, it was more a response to Mr Meltdown claiming you have been totally organic.

Chelsea fans having a quick look at United's Wikipedia page and mentioning snips of our illustrious history to try and make comparisons with Roman Abramovic is one of the most bizarre and disingenuous things I've ever seen on the Caf. Utterly ridiculous.

You're just off a fantastic win against one of your main rivals and instead of enjoying it you're instead spending the aftermath insulting your fellow supporters and having another meltdown on a thread dedicated to a Chelsea player.

Never change!

You keep mentioning me in here very slyly that's why. You are quite a sly poster though so it's to be expected!

If we are talking about meltdowns we only need to recall your antics in the covid football thread when the pandemic first struck... You are known for it.

And back to deflecting!

Anyway, why aren't you enjoying a great weekend for your club? Seems strange that you seem to prefer flicking between trying to use it to create a divide between your own fanbase and projecting more bitterness and anger onto Chelsea.

You keep mentioning me in here. I'll repeat myself. Why are you? You're obsessed and a little bit strange.

I mustn't be enjoying the United win because I'm posting on a United forum 24 hours later to tell someone who keeps mentioning me in threads that they need to give it a rest. Another interesting analysis.

Fair enough boys I think I'll stay out of this budding bromance.

Back to Lukaku. I think he will get lots of goals as he always did. But he has historically got loads of goals against lower half teams and struggled to preform against good sides. I wonder if he has improved or if the Chelsea system will be perfect for him.

That may work if you weren't lashing out at your own supporters for the cardinal sin of not agreeing with you.

Imagine being more obsessed about a rival than supporting your own club.

Also on Lukaku, I've had my doubts about the signing, not because of his quality but because of my personal preference for Haaland. I think he'll do very well with us if you look at our games last season we struggled the most against the bus parking fodder with a misfiring striker. Lukaku is a renowned flat track bully who'll get you goals against such opposition. We've had no problems with teams who keep a higher defensive line (ie the top teams) with our current technical crop so I expect that to continue with or without Lukaku in the lineup. We needed someone to finish the chances and now we have one. I'm okey with it. Let's see how the season goes. If the first week is anything to go by, we are all in for a rollercoaster.

I thought it was just Chelsea fans he has a unprovoked hatred of for whatever reason but he seems to be resentful of his own fans aswell.

Very strange.

Edit: and now I see he wants to get me murdered, what a guy!

Well that £2500 (about £310k in todays money) doesn't sound like much, but then of course he spent another £90,000 (over 7 million today) building the original Old Trafford.

It was certainly considered a vast amount for football then, which is why they started calling you 'Moneybags United' apparently.

Almost certainly the players wages for a significant period of time aswell.

Good old organic growth.

£7.3M in todays money. From a local businessmen. 95% of which was invested into the stadium. Ok. How much has Roman invested in Chelsea?

It is such a desperate comparison it is hilarious that it is even brought up when talking about Abramovich at Chelsea.

That's before you even consider how Abramovich made his money. And the fact he cannot reside in the UK.

Chance of a lifetime, didn't he reject Chelsea when he signed for Utd? So a second chance really.
Yeah I suppose. I think he means the timeline has finally aligned properly. In 2017, Chelsea were unsure about spending such a big fee on him. It was just Conte who pushed for him. He felt more wanted by United. Or maybe he just means being to properly compete for the PL title and the CL. Or being able to properly fulfil his boyhood dream of playing for Chelsea finally.

Nice message either way. I can't wait for his debut against Arsenal next weekend.

i do have a lot of experience in this area. though it’s usually me stalking other people. what tends to annoy me most is being completely ignored. that makes me want them even more. it’s like i didn’t exist.

Genuinely do you know what period United became truly successful and the reasons behind why?

Saving a club is one thing, what Roman does is another.

But paid similar money for Morata?
Get what you are saying though. Probably more to do with being standard issued PR jiberish though.

He wasn't ready for a club the size of Chelsea at that time. Needed to try his hand at a smaller club.

Now he's ready for the big time.

You are probably right.
