Mbappe thinks he is going to be the last great player in a glorious league. He should just forget what Mino is shovelling him and get himself over to the EPL.

Spanish clubs are on the DDDcline.

I don't think Haaland will sign for Utd. Would you?, if your dad's playing career was ended (with intent) by Utd's captain? Get real.

He put in an intentionally hard tackle. But he never ended Haaland’s career. In fact, Haaland played a friendly for Norway 4 days later. He did undergo surgery the following summer but it was for his other knee.

This myth that Keane ended Haaland Sr.’s career has been dispelled a few times I believe.

The same source has said that Raola/Haaland wanted £800k pw and a £32m agent fee plus a signing on fee.

Even at £65m with those terms it's a huge outlay and would destroy the wage structure at any club

You can invest in players all you want, if you dont have an elite manager like tuchel, guardiola, klopp. Then what different does it make?
Are you seriuos right now?

Even if we pretend Ole is a far far worse manager than those (when his head to head against the first two is quite good), the club should just stop buying new players and make it even worse?
And make a hypothetical next "elite" managers job even harder?

Are we just forgetting the fact that, albeit not as much as we probably have wanted, he has factually progressed the team with each transfer window?

Really, that is one of the most stupid opinions I've seen this year.

What has Ole won as a manager? When he was in the final of the europa league and had a chance to win his first trophy for Utd as a manager what did he do to win the game? Nothing. Doesn't have what it takes to become an elite manager. Cant make the changes required in real time during a game. Plays his favourites even if they are oit of form or need of a rest. Shall i go on?

I'm not saying he's a bad manager, hes just not at the elite level. Tuchel, Guardiola, Klopp have all won the CL and league titles in the top divisions. Ole aint won anything.

We are making progress in that i agree, but does Ole really have what it takes to land the trophies? When team play a low defensive block and dont allow space behind for lighting fast transitions whats his plan b or plan c?

We all saw how hopeless Martial is as a point striker last season, greenwood was excellent against leeds in that role so what does he do against villa? Push greenwood out to the wing and play useless Martial as the point striker. We're chasing the game, need to win it, instead of bringing on someone like DvB he brings on Matic. We drop 2 points.

That sums up Ole. A failry decent manager, helping the club go in the right direction but not an elite manager capable of making the decisions that add up to trophies at the end of a season.

I imagine that the demands will be huge, whoever signs him is getting a world class player on the cheap because he had the foresight to insist on a release clause so i think he's entitled to expect to get a split of the savings since the club wont have to pay 200 mil for him. The thing he probably didn't expect was the ongoing impact of the Pandemic, Barcelona being in a bad way financially, PSG being stacked with stars and Madrid going all out on Mbappe. I don't know if he can demand 800K when the only clubs in for him are likely to be United, Liverpool, Spurs, Juventus and Bayern.

I have a feeling Real will go for him, Mbappe - Haaland - Hazard front three with Pogba on a free too. They could go full galactico.

We can debate how good Ole is all day long, but thats not the point. Saying the club shouldnt buy good players for him because he isnt «elite» is just laughable really

I disagree. We need to keep pumping world class players into the team to balance the deficiencies of the mediocre manager we have, otherwise we will drop out of top 4.

Like any other player, and particularly one moving from Bundesliga, there is no guarantee that Haaland will be a hit here. He might just be a 20goal striker, which is not bad, but not worth paying 800k/week for. I would be wary.

  • Mendes approached Manchester City.
  • Juve want €25-30m.
  • City want to sell Sterling before they go for Cristiano Ronaldo.
  • Juventus are interested in Gabriel Jesus as part of the deal, but Guardiola still wants him in the team.
Not buying it. Why would Ronaldo risk ruining his relationship with Utd fans for the sake of joining City for a season or 2 at the back end of his career? Unless of course he doesn’t give a shit but I don’t think that’s the case.

I actually have a sneaky suspicion Ole played Matic on Sunday to show how poor the midfield is if one of Fred/McTominay are injured and push a transfer through. Reassuring to hear all these links to a midfielder today though. Confident it won’t be Camavinga. Saul or Neves seems more realistic.
So he went into a game with the intent to lose or draw just to make a point.

Wonderful logic and insight

Considering that the families are friends, I doubt if the Keane- Haaland incident ( which didn’t end his career incidentally) will have a bearing on where he ends up. Think Ole backing off slightly due to the relationship will have a positive effect long term

Very well laid out. It's true, he has not shown he has a plan "B". Just buy the best players that we can get and hope for individual brilliance to win. Where is the coaching on the training ground? Where is his stamp on playing style? He has been in charge of the team long enough to stamp his playing style and display some tactical acumen.

The game against Southampton proved a point. Towards the end of the game, McT provided a glorious pass from the right after a throw-in, there was just one United player on the edge of the penalty area, just one! He should be drilling it into the players to get into the box, especially towards the end of the game, if they don't, don't play them.

Also, the passing in the game, even from the supposed skilled players was a joke.

And this got what to do with transfers exactly?

Where they got the 160m from? The bailout fund.
Their net spend in the last 10 years (including this window) is around €160m (according to transfermarkt). Even with the crazy money they spent when they brought Hazard and Jovich.

I love Ronaldo and I don’t think he’ll end up going to city but we are kidding ourselves if we think he loves us as much as we love him.

Some players, Evra of the top of my head, go all in and become United through and through but Ronaldo always had Madrid in his heart.

Can you tell me what he’s meant to do after Lvg and then Jose decimated the squad and filled it with not so good investments.
Ole is literally having to rebuild the squad with players who should be at a team like United
I dont blame him for the squad at all

Nope, I expect he like the rest of us assumed we would have enough to beat Southampton and didnt count on Maguire having a stinker and the rest of the team looking clueless.
I think it was a shop window exercise, which is why Jesse came off the bench too - trying to drive some interest in players that are ‘good enough to play for Utd!’

Oh and if you don’t like my post/opinion you can just scroll on by, no need to play the big I am and go round belittling people.

We can continue to blame previous managers for the state our squad was in, but you cannot blame them for the lack of playing style or tactical awareness. We are simply relying on individual brilliance or hitting on the counterattack. Ole has been in charge long enough to stamp his authority on that aspect of management.
