Unless we can offset Ronaldo's wages with commercial stuff related to Ronaldo, we're probably spent unless we can shift on some of the fringe players. Problem is, there's zero market out there right now. It's loans or nothing it seems.
I think there is the potential that Mbappe going to PSG may result in a domino effect leading to us selling a player or two.

Exactly, apparently he got in touch with Varane through Twitter.

The Romano being on his show thing is cool for him. However, Rio is a massive transfer muppet. Just by listening to him, and seeing how Howson is carrying on now on Twitter as well, it's blindingly obvious that Rio is expecting another signing.
The obvious midfield signing is what we need. But I do understand that financially speaking we probably need to move someone on.

Who did Rio support as a kid... Because these days he's about 100% top red as you could hope to find

If Dalot is leaving then it has to be Trippier.

We need a DM much more though.

They cant afford his wages and I think Martial will prefer to play outside the EPL.
Martial would probably prefer to play outside of football. I imagine he would just spend all day fishing or something.

I can see that.

Mbappe leaves for Real, PSG sign Pogba to replace him as their French Galactico, United use the profit to sign a bona fide midfielder.

Given how stacked we are in attack now, how thin we are in midfield, and how high our wage bill has just become, it makes sense on a lot of levels. Rashford should be back in a month as well.

People said the same yesterday before it became obvious we had hijacked the deal.

I actually think the likes of Rio and co for the first time ever have inside knowledge on our dealings because it’s no longer a complete hush hush closed circle of Woodward and his team. We’ve got Murtough running that side of things with Fletcher organising the approach for each target and they’re savvy enough to know they can bring their old team mates and United legends into the fold for a bit of transfer dark arts.

It’s what Real used to do, getting the likes of Zidane to text or call targets. It doesn’t matter if it leaks, it helps build pressure.

Yeah you're probably right, it seems rio does have insider knowledge of stuff, he's obviuosly very involved in the club still.

It's interesting that Ste Howson is good mates with Rio and he tweeted something to Saul yesterday so maybe we are getting him on loan or something.

Eitherway I think Rio is expecting we get another signing over the line.

I have a feeling it'll be Saul on loan. Whether or not he will solve our midfield issue, I dont know but there are not many top class DM available these days so someone who's an all arounder makes sense as well. Anything to improve the control in the middle of the pitch.

Camavinga's got a big decision to make.

Does he want to play alongside Messi or Ronaldo.

Our options for the front 4 - Ronaldo/Cavani/Pogba/Sancho/Rashford/Bruno/Mason/Martial

We don't need Lingard, James and Mata, obviously Mata will see his 1 year extension out and probably join the staff next season, but we should be able to get £40M combined for the other 2 and buy a midfielder .

Almost 210M GBP per annum on major players, hopefully things wont get out of hands financially as it seems we have the biggest wage bill in the world of football

I'm sure most of these numbers are wrong and some include bonuses and image rights.

I doubt that as psg , Barcelona, real and city(or atleast what they're paying behind the scenes) should be comfortable above us

Though your correct the squad is getting a tad to bloated, hopefully by next year considering the guys whose contract runs out and sellings we should be looking at a pretty reasonable wage structure

But I guess the ludicrous amounts were paying some of our players might cause us problems finding suitors so I guess we'll be seeing martial around for a while

We can look at off loading Martial too, He wont be happy to be on bench and probably giving Matic on loan to anyone

We can only register max 25 players to the league I guess so we need to trim down the squad especially if we are bringing in a CDM.

Really do not want Trippier. We need a DM who can pass desperately. Please let the injury to McTom make that very clear! We don’t have anyone else!

I am concerned too about the wage bill. The good thing from our perspective is that a lot of these high wage earners have shorter contracts or have contracts which expire in the next 24 months. Ronaldo, DDG, Cavani, Mata, Matic would be in this bucket. Sancho and Varane numbers seem higher than what I recall seeing earlier.

I’m fairly certain there are a lot of inaccuracies there. Furthermore, most of the contracts have significant performance stipulations - such as appearances, goals, assists, clean sheet bonuses etc., some also include image rights.

We clearly have to shift some earners off the books but the number to really look at is the wages to turnover ratio which we won’t know until the club publish their financial reports. Historically we’ve always had one of the best ratios in the division.

Funny how Sancho last summer would have been the marquee signing.

This summer it's almost as if he doesn't exist after signing varane and ronaldo

Yeah, he is flying under the radar now. Which is insane considering the hype over 2 years.

I am an Ole supporter but he sure knows how to kill the excitement of a new signing :(

But this might be good for him. Less pressure and all that.

Agree with this, didn’t Rio help with Varane too or have I made that up?
he said he’d text Varane to see what’s going on - and didn’t mention anything after that.

There’s little doubt that Rio does have insider knowledge to certain players - but I do also recall Howson saying that he asked Rio in private and he wouldn’t say anything, same with the Ronaldo thing.

Our wage bill to our turnover was less than 50% when we had dip in revenue due to Covid. With matchday revenue coming back and deferred payment from shirt sponsorship still to come (plus i think we have one major sponsor slot still left to fill) , we will be fine with addition that we have made this season.

Just hope we have Covid free this season and full matchday revenue throughout this season

Amazing to think we might actually have a better window than PSG.
If PSG ends up with loosing Mbappe im not sure if theirs window been good .

Donarumma is really good. But they had Neves. Who is not that far behind.

Ramos is probably not as good as he was.

Messi is still a beast, but i rather have 22 year old Mbappe.
