Tactically disastrous today. Fred is waaaay off the pace, mistakes everywhere. Pogba not disciplined enough for CM, as everyone already fecking knows.

They have 5 at the back and yet are totally overwhelming us in midfield and on the wings, which makes no sense to me

Our midfield, except from Bruno, struggled a lot. Someone said James was better than Sancho. Not sure about that. They closed down our left side (didn’t leave much room) and let their right side open because they knew James isn’t much of a threat. That’s why James makes us very vulnerable.
What do you mean except Bruno. He was also shite and have the ball away alot

Yet another manager with inferior players making Ole look totally one dimensional.

What an array of talent Ole has at his disposal and yet has no real idea what to do with it.

What arrogance? Just trying to help. If you spend less time mouthing off here, and more time watching the game, you may see obvious things and not be so confused.
What arrogance? I can't imagine where arrogance is. Jesus, get a hold of yourself man.
Hang on, you already have :wenger:

Have we done any changes to compensate for Pogba in CM because it doesn't look like it.

You can't have Pogba and both fullbacks way up high all the time and not expect Wolves to take advantage on the counter.

We don't half need to wise up.

Van der Beek for James. Nothing against James, he’s worked hard, but tactically we need a change. VdB to sit alongside Fred, Pogba to the left, Sancho right. We need basic possession retention and ball rotation in midfield.
Decent idea. Really any change would be positive though.

Pretty poor that. On the plus side I feel Varane and Maguire look a good partnership. Same issues through the middle of the pitch as last week. We've got zero control or aggression in there.

Cavani should come on as he'll be a better outlet that Sancho and Greenwood can play off.

Not sure what the answer is in the middle but we need to shift Pogba over.

Apparently Sancho is a bust because he didn’t score twice in the first half on the road against a team that’s widely regarded as one of the toughest to play away. 45 minutes is all it takes to judge a player apparently

My first or second post was that I felt like we would lose this game.

Christ I hope I am not right but we are giving it a great go

We can talk about players and new transfers all day long but the worry is that we're still not sure if our manager is of the right calibre to get a tune out of these players.

Many of them look like they haven't been trained.

And why does James constantly cut inside into crowded areas? He's a pacy winger. Exploit his strengths!
His best position is on the left. He loves to cut in on to his right.

This is the worst performance of any football team EVER. All the players should be forced to amputate their legs and put up in court for attempted slaughter of the beautiful game. Dan James is exempt from the amputation as it would not impact his influence on the game either way. Poor guy has it hard enough.

Sack all the players and dishonorable discharge for Ole and all the backroom staff. Bring in 15 lads from the Blaize with a few pints in them and some fire in their bellies - they'll outperform this lot.:devil::devil:

This is what some people here sound like.
You are not wrong. What the hell is this? What do they practice on the training pitch? and VDB can't get onto the pitch in front of this lot on the pitch?

So, again, do we need a DM this summer or not?

Because it sure seems like every other new thread on here is about us needing one. Suddenly the game starts and our midfield is only being held back by the manager and his tactics and I get told to explain how Conte or Tuchel wouldn't have us playing better with these midfielders to choose from. One of whom signed N'Golo Kante and one who inherited him - completely unrelated, of course.
    Can't it be both?

At least Fred has been running around a bit.
He’s done all of pogba’s running in that 1st half.
Don’t get me wrong he’s been poor on the ball as well but at least the effort is there
Are you sure Pogba is playing? I have seen no evidence of this.

I'm honestly not sure he's really that fast with the ball. He doesn't often get past his man, does he?

Is anyone surprised to see a Fred/Pogba midfield tag team be a nightmare. How Ole can decide to play it is genuinely baffling. We all see this coming.
How many times do we need to get burned by pogba losing the ball on the half turn in our own half before Ole sees he should never be there.
been happening for 4 years now

Awful from everyone, disjointed, uncoordinated and predictable, wtf is that !!!!!

As for the new joiners, Varane was alright, but Sancho is totally anonymous and not even trying

Ole better do something 2nd half...

    There's only one United!
What's shocking about that Adama Traore solo dribble is how neither Pogba or Fred took him down. As a matter of fact, Paul jumped clear from him.

Pep / Klopp's midfielders would have scythed him down.
But the ref is Dean and he would have sent off 2 of our players.
We're not City or Liver poo.

See hoe our backing isn't our ball progression problem like some used to say. What's even more clear is that Pogba can't play the game at pace, add that to Fred not being good on or off the ball and our midfield is non existent. Thankfully, our defence is world class now.

James off , Pogba further up the field and I suppose it will have to be one of Matic or Beek . We really do need a proper CM .

Bring on VdB, sub off James or Sancho, move Pogba to the left.
If Ole doesn’t change our structure in the 2nd half (be it with or without subs) then we are in big trouble.
I'd bring on VdB for James and push Pogba into the front three.
I'd take off James and Fred and bring on Van De Beek and Matic. I'd put Pogba on the left and leave Sancho on the right.
It’s kinda obvious isn’t it? I hope Ole sees it the same way….

Can't forgive when pro players playing for Manchester United can't even do the basic things right. This is a common trend. It's a surprise when we play well. It's not when we play like shit. It's expected.

Yes we need a DM, but our tactics are the main problem and have been for a while.
