This is a joke. Were you watching the match? Three giveaways by Neves, his one chance he hit straight at DeGea. The chances Wolves created had nothing to do with the midfield. Not saying that our midfield was great, we weren’t, and Fred was bad at times, but to claim our midfield was dominated is just plain crap.
Completely agree. Trincao and Traore caused us all the issues along with their wingbacks. Neves was just average.

And if Neves was playing on our team, like someone suggested above , then Trincao and Traore would've caused us even more problems because Neves wasn't gonna get near them in a more expansive set-up.

How the hell was he like Carrick to some people?

He made a couple good passes but was hardly dictating the team. It was more runs through our midfield.

I really don't think he was anything above average other than a couple of nice long range passes

Not the right player for us imo. We need a pure DM who cleans up everything in front of our back 4, and also adds some physicality

How can anyone not? The replay showed everything. He continues to play on, sees the ball go to Varane and then decides to chance his luck getting a free with a pathetic dive.
That’s what i thought too mate. Surprised none has been made more of this instead of ramblings of a foul by Pogba

How about a trade for Neves. Martial needs a full time gig with Ronaldo coming and Wolves desperatly need someone who can finish.

He's shite and I don't know why any of you want him at United to be honest.

All Wolves did today was hit Traore. That was the plan.

Bar his idiocy at the end, he played well, passed through the lines and restricted us when we went forward.

Nothing flashy, but effective.

By the way, more convinced than ever that Neves is not the answer. He’s less positionally naive than Pogba, but you still need to pair him with a ball winner. If you can’t play him with Pogba, what’s the point?
Theres no midfielder you can so that wouldn't put me off. Being an option next to ball winners like Fred and McTominay so we dont need to play Pogba in midfield is the point.

He's the type who'd look great when you're battering some lower leaguers at home, but doesn't have the energy of Fred or McTom, and isn't a defensive guy.
So wouldn't solve much at all.

Desperation to get anyone in at all.
Reminds me of Fergie's last couple of years when fans were demanding we sign pretty much every mid-table midfielder in the league just out of desperation to sign anyone. Newcastle had that one decent season and so Cayabe or Tiote were going to be the solutions to all our problems

Can see him still whinging.

As a player, yeah, he is kind of what we need just much better, so he can stay whinging in Wolves.

Hopefully he tries as hard in other games against the big sides.

His passing and positioning are what we need because I want Pogba to go back in that wide playmaker role on the left again. He won’t give the ball away like Fred and he can find Pogba and Bruno. Sometime simplicity and effective is what we need.

Considering the forward options Pogba is gonna be playing in midfield a lot this season. Cavani, Rashford, Ronaldo, Sancho and Greenwood. Martial too if he kicks into gear. The best place for Pogba in this team is at CM and we need someone more defensively solid than Neves next to him.

Unless we change our tactics and style of play to a more dominat possession style, there is no DM that can cover for Pogba at the double pivot. Whether this DM is a pure destroyer or dlp or ball winner or whatever Its too much work for one man. Pogba should play Left midfield and not at the double pivot because he is a defensive liability in our current set up

This to me makes Neves our ideal midfielder because taking Pogba away from the double pivot would mean we need to replace the passing ability he offers and Neves is the best option out there while also providing the defensive ability that double pivot position needs.

Right. Like, winning the World Cup with Pogba in midfield never happened? Not saying that Pogba is easy to pair with, he’s not. But you shouldn’t spend 30-40m on a player who doesn’t really fit your best 11. We did that with Donny, and look how that has turned out. We have two box-to-box midfielders, adding a 3rd isn’t going to solve our problems.

Malouda was playing as a midfielder that world cup. Should i list examples of pogba in a midfield 2 that didn't end well or do you just want to save us both time and admit that it would be a hell of a lot longer than that one example (when he was playing in a midfield 3, but everyone seems to have forgotten or ignored that).

My mistake.
I'd rather get pogba further up the pitch basically. I'd rather have a midfielder behind him pretty much always than have him the deepest.
I think McFred works. They're complementary players and that partnership can work, but the problem is Fred without McTominay next to him to harry players and being calm under pressure looks like a complete liability. He was killing all our attacks and laying it off perfectly to Wolves to counter.
