Absolute hit the nail on the head with that post. Hope he can motivate the entire team and carry them this season.

That last line just got tears in my eyes!!

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"
That yet to be proved, lots of clubs have tried it and struggled, Juve being 1 of them which is why they are so happy to get him off the wage bill, everyone always things like shirt sales, which the club only get a tiny percentage off, Ronaldo also gets most of his own sponsorships. Is Ronaldo going to bring in a minimum extra £375,000 (which is the minimum amount I've seen his wages quoted at) into the club, we will have to see. Not to mention every time you increase your top earner it increases every other player you negotiate with wage demand. Plus you think sponsors are going to still be flocking to him as much at 37? at 38? probably to some level but nothing compared to when he was in his prime.
Juve paid 105m and our marketing team are miles better.

OMFG goosebumps. Best statement I've ever read from a player when signing.

I still cannot believe this. My favourite player of ALL time coming back to United. This is the stuff football dreams are made of.

He's going to be so pumped for this return, the stadium is going to explode, I mean like never before. I have to be there.

Let's not lose sight of the fact that his post obviously wasn't written by him.

I'm not gonna win this 1 so i'm not gonna bother arguing, but this is a terrible idea based on nostalgia and name value. Committing to making a 36-year-old our highest-earning player and paying him that wage past his 38th birthday is never going to end well. That money could have been spending so much better in other areas of the team instead of in a position we were pretty well set this season. It was also likely to impact Greenwoods development as a striker as he basically won't get any time in the position now with Ronaldo and Cavani. Plus this is not the Ronaldo of yesteryear, yes he will still score, but his game when a team is out of possession is basically none exsistent and the other 10 players are going to have to compensate which is going to cause problems through the team.

Of course I will get shouted down and told to shut up as fans only care about the big shinney name, but this is an awful signing.
I don't think Greenwood is quite ready for the number 9 role full time and martial is well martial. Cavani was are only top class striker in the squad we were a little light up top so signing serie a's top scorer for what is essentially a pittance is not gonna be bad move.

It might not work out he might struggle to cope with the intensity of the PL, but even if that is the case having CR7 round the squad will be a massive boost imagine what the likes of sancho, rashford and Greenwood are going to learn from him. Even if he does struggle with the intensity imagine needing a goal in a game and being able to call upon CR7 of the bench to go and get it.

Its a win win, the salary is irrelevant its just glazer money and its only 2 years if it doesn't work out we wonr have to worry about trying to offload him because the 2 years will soon be over.

Nobody can argue they should be on the same salary as Ronaldo. It’s different when you’re paying Alexis Sanchez a fortune, cause he’s done feck all.

That roar is going to be simply unbelievable, kudos to the fans who have attended games during difficult spells in recent years. Rochdale, Astana, etc.

Just imagine how much money we'd make if we had no players!

Just incredible to see him back, although I wish it was sooner. On reflection him leaving drained a lot of the optimism out of the club for the few years after he left, watching highlights of Rooneys incredible 2009/10 it makes you wonder what the club could've achieved that year with him as well.

Course they can, not when he was in his prime, but he isn't going playing 90mins every week, he is going to need to be heavily rotated (and if that doesn't happen then there is another barrel of problems), you think Ronaldo is going to be our best player when his is 38? of course not! so quite a few players are going to be looking at his wages and think well if they are paying him that I should get that.

Plus it's not just the people who want more than him, it's the players who go well he is on that much im at least worth 2/3rds of that. increasing what your highest earner makes increases the expectations of every player, and when that highest earner is coming up rapidly to football retirement age you are asking for trouble.

There's so much factually wrong with what you're posting at the moment I don't know where to start to be honest.

Yeah the loyal fans deserve this.

We have to get this game televised ffs. How can they miss out on his homecoming, the PL will want to milk it surely?
