How I imagine the conversation will go:

Gutting but we are quite stacked and hasn't fared well with the authorities.

Not really opposed to him leaving, but seeing a 70 year old Cavaldo as our strike force would be awesome. Not necessarily good, but awesome.

I would keep him. Could play with Ronaldo upfront when Bruno needs a rest. And he also played on the wings when PSG had Ibra, no?

They can buy Donny too seeing as we have no use for him.

If he wants to go, let him go.

The reality is that Ronaldo will be starting at CF for us in most games in the major competitions and we have Greenwood and Martial to fill in for the rest.
Yeah exactly and Cavani only really hit his stride when he got a run of games last season. He won't this season with Ronaldo there so it's pointless to let him rot on the bench, and then abuse him for being a mercenary when he doesn't perform coming into games cold.

No he’s not as off late, he’s just a poacher right now and barely offers any hold up play.
I don’t think that’s the case. Ronaldo is not the player he was but he’s still pretty mobile. He doesn’t work as hard as Cavani but offers the same brilliant movement and is still more likely to produce something out of nothing. Ronaldo remains a better finisher too which is why Cavani grabbed about 15 goals compared to Ronaldos 36. I love Cavani but he’s always been a level below Ronaldo and that’s still the case now.

Well I’m glad this got squashed pretty quickly.

They can have VDB if they want?

Just go. Nice move for him. He’s not going to play with Ronnie here.

I think we should be fair to Barca here and sympathise with them that they are cash strapped. So just give us one of De Jong or Pedri instead, and he's yours.

Seriously though, I'll be sad to see him go. The whole racism thing was dumb, I'm sure that has soured him on English football, though we still did convince him to re-sign, so he mustn't be completely against staying. I think there's plenty of game time for him across 4 competitions. Ronaldo is a freak, but we shouldn't run him into the ground. We used Cavani quite smartly last season, and it'd be good to do the same with Ronaldo.

I can't say I agree with the posts suggesting "its fine because we've got..." and then name Martial follows. I'd rather he left than Cavani.

Edit: Nevermind, it's off. These transfer sagas are getting shorter.

In the cold light of day Cavani will be gone in a year's time. So if we can get something for him now, why not?

Yes, he's still a top striker and him being around gives us better depth than we'd otherwise have. However, you can see the logic of selling. Especially with Cristiano and Greenwood developing at the rate of knots.

Useful option for us although I get the feeling he had to be persuaded to stay and since then he’s had his prospective minutes slashed, lost out on playing for his country which he seemed to want to do and may well be having his shirt number taken. Hopefully he accepts our decision with no fuss and continues to give his all when he does play.

This guy is properly in with Uruguayan footballers. If he says it aint happening then it aint happening.

The club spent months trying to convince him to stay. There was absolutely no chance he was going to leave.

Then we keep him. There's a premium to be paid when a club is faffing around trying to buy a player in the last minute of the window. So either Barca pay up or we tell them where to go. Knowing our board though, we'll probably give into the player's wishes.
If the player doesn't want to be here and we have sufficient quality to cover his exit, which we do with Ronaldo's arrival, then keeping an unsettled player seems daft. If Cavani is pushing for a move then let him go.

And fans were shut down for even suggesting that Cavani may leave in this window.

Ronaldo is not your pure 9 and he doesn’t offer much on the ball at this stage if you have seen him playing for Juventus/Portugal, he’s just a poacher right now.
Purely a myth written in newspapers.

He can hold up really well, and still has that electric stepovers.

Would be making a grave mistake if we let him go. Ronaldo isn’t a pure #9 and actually hates playing that CF position. He actually thrives playing next to someone like Cavani rather than in place of him (ala Mandzukic, Benzema, Morata etc). I hope this doesn’t happen.

I'd like him to stay and play a lot, but i think we have too many attackers now.
If he wants to go to Barca, and they put in an offer, i say let him go.

Let barca pick between Martial, Linagrd and VDB if they want any of our players.

Cavani is seemingly/reportedly fighting really hard not to be here huh? First it was the doubts about renewing/extending last year, then the push for Uruguay and now this.
