Some of Ole's decisions are baffling. For example we spend over £70million on a player that was bought because he was a right sided attacker. Why is Sancho always playing on the left. Am I missing something or is Ole just determined to completely ruin Sanchos United career before it begins just like he has VDB.
Sancho was great for Dortmund on both sides. It's more worrying that for a trophyless Manchester United manager has started so poorly in cups this year when it's high time he start showing his quality in this regard. But yeah 100 million worth of his signings in midfield and attack and he seems to be struggling to get anytime out of them.

Ole had to start Martial to see whether he had anything left in his locker. We found out that he doesn’t, but the price we paid for finding that out was crashing out of the league cup. Sad that Mata is done, too. I really wouldn’t draw too many conclusions from this defeat.

He should have known Mata was done for a while. It was pointless playing him.

Martial should have been subbed out. He didn't deserve to see out the game with a performance like that. He's not Ronaldo.

when Pogba is playing with Bruno we have one DM and if we play three attackers we get overwhelmed in midfield on our left side because Pogba cannot defend. So how do you sort out that problem when we do not have a top class DM who can play like Kante? I would say change and get two up front with the two wide midfield players that is not Pogba or Bruno playing in these two positions.

He is like one of our salesman, very good at getting sales lead, always says he has dozens of appointments, but never closes a deal. Doesn't have what it takes when it matters most.

Genuinely think we may have falled into the trophyless abysm, where we're levels below the top teams hence we dont have a real chance to win top titles but we dont fall from top 4 so just between that gray area were its not great but not as bad to sack Ole. Like Arsenal's last Wenger years.

We may be up top in the table with the other top teams, but we all know we were really lucky against Saints, Wolves and West Ham. Form will eventually catch up with results. Unless something strange happens I think we'll start falling behind rather sooner than later. We look nothing close to a well drilled team, we may win 3-0 or lose against any team god only knows what kind of performance we'll see on the next match day.

We already knew Martial and Mata were finished as United players long ago.

Ole knew as well. But when ya sanction £400k a week in contracts for two players you have to play them somewhere.

I share this concern. Ole’s not a bad manager. He’s excellent at some things. Lacking in others. Overall I worry that he’s going to be a perpetual nearly-there manager who keeps us decent (around the top 4) but isn’t good enough to make us better than our rivals. We should give him a little more time to see what he can do with this squad he built, but the club’s patience should not stretch for too long.

Taken out of context, again, to nobody's fecking surprise. The full text transcript and context is available on the Man Utd app.

Ole's response to West Ham's goal: "When we were up there, we were patient, we ran, we tried to probe through the middle, we created some chances. We're not great when we play against a low block and just try to slign crosses in because w're not that kind of team. We didn't have them type of players so we tried to play round them, through them, get in behind them, but we couldn't create enough big chances. But we had one or two opportunities that should, could of, been goals."

Ole continues: "There were lots of shots from outside the box, blocked shots, but they gave it their all and the attitude, when they lose the ball, they run back, cannot fault any single player out there."
Unsurprisingly, everyone is avoiding your post and still moaning about the out of context quote.

Over three years into the job, and he can't figure out how to get past a low block. What a manager.
 I sincerely hope that is a fake quote.
If i say anything about Ole I'm in big trouble so i wont.
He cones out with some bullshit. You're the coach, not a pundit.

These bullshit Tweets taken out of context really make my blood boil.

Y'all gonna #OLEIN again when we trash Villa this weekend.

Its obvious our 2nd string is not good enough to play with themselves. Throw in Bruno, Ronaldo and Maguire and we would gave got a win.

Chillaxxx.. It's the mickey mouse cup.

Don't see what that changes. He seems incapable of coaching us into a team that plays quality possesion football which is what we need against the low block.

Sadly what can't be taken out of context is Ole's United being dumped out of yet another cup.

The tweet itself is very misleading. When I first read it without context, it sounded like Ole just had an epiphany that we shouldn’t be crossing the ball to our striker to break down a low block because we don’t have the players for that.

Okay I understand. I saw it more as Ole being a but clueless as to how to break a low block which I think is true. Maybe not clueless as we have goals in us anytime but our lack of quality possesion and passing in between the lines /short passing interplay remains something he doesn't seem to look like solving and doing so would make us so much better.

Ye, as my post said, I really did hope it was fake/misquoted, because if a United manager is surprised that teams will play in a low block against us and also that the only way to play against that kind of style is by 'slinging in crosses', I'd be very worried.

If that makes your blood boil wonder what yesterday's result does.
Not bothered in the slightest. Decent performance with a heavily rotated side. Was a bit annoyed in the moment only because it was West Ham. But I couldn’t care less about the League Cup.

Great, hopefully Ole, the players and the club don't have the same mentality given we have won feck all in 4 years.

But being annoyed more by a tweet than your team's defeat is amusing to say the least

Sometimes the best team doesn't win. United were by far the better team last night, Mata's shot in the first half was fantastic, Noble pulled Lingard down in the box and in any other game, especially one with VAR, that would have been a pen. Matic, Sancho and VdB all had good moments and good chances.

This wasn't a shit show from United, you deserved to at least level after the first half, their 3 big chances at the end weren't the result of bad play, just a result of pushing ten men up the pitch in a huge push to score and actually Henderson made a great save at the end there as well. The better team lost, that was a total smash and grab from West Ham.

Yeah I had the same thought, though I did think it would be hilarious if it were really the case. Hilarious in the, you can’t do anything but laugh, kind of way.

It is september ffs. We had an easy start in the league and in the CL. Resting is important, but resting doesn't mean you exchange the whole team. Rotation it the key here.

Oh come on, don't act smug. As if you weren't keen on the "I knew it, the bad boys will be out of their holes again, they are so low" feeling. Anyway, obviously anybody can do whatever suits them. I just found it mentionworthy, that for all the often called "unwanted" knee-jerk'ism there are seemingly so many who seem to like that stuff.

Manchester Uniteds main sources for creativity are Bruno, Poga and Shaw. Sancho has been bought to add to that list but so far he doesn't. To leave two out of this three players completely out of the squad is risky. To not play the other one from the start is also risky. We shouldn't be shocked about that performance but it could have been foreseen. It is september, why are Pogba and Shaw not even in the squad. I don't want them as starters but in case you really want to win this game you make sure you have your most influential players in the squad, if you want to rest them, fine, have them on the bench in case they needed.
How am I acting smug? you called it fighting fire with fire? You seem to have a particular bee in your bonnet about posters that are calling out the knee jerk over the top posters.

Look at the post I responded to for goodness sake, it was so bad I think they have been temp banned.

But who is happy/celebrating? I don't see any single poster who is happy. It is either anger or not caring ("it is just LC").
Literally the guy I quoted in my original post that led me to being bizarrely called out.

Again, it’s the League Cup. Not anything to boast about even if we do win it and more likely to feck up more important matches with unnecessary fixture congestion. Not worth it.

So yeah, people taking our manager and club legend’s comments totally out of context in an effort to make him look the idiot is the absolute worst of the social media age and they can all feck right off.

Good summary and how I saw it as well.

Was actually a pretty decent performance from a much changed side. Very unlucky in the end.

The full context is still a terrible read. Those cringey words actually came out of his mouth in-between everything else he said

I mean, I like Ole but he picks the team, he’s directly attached to that result. If he knew those players wouldn’t do it then we did he pick them? For a laugh?
To be honest, I don't have many complaints about the performance cause ai thought we played well for most parts.

Honestly, answer me.
Does anyone give a flying crap about carabao cup? This trophy is as meaningful as a trophy in 3-way preseason “tournament”.
Would you consider a season with carabao cup won and everything else failed a good season?

We should rightfully so, concentrate on title challenge, FA cup and at least 1/4 final in CL.

And also, we dominated and deserved to win. Smash and grab for whu.
We didn’t have any luck, but I prefer we keep our luck for a game that actually matters.

By that logic, if he doesn't win one of those major trophies, he should be sacked? I agree.
