This line has started to really annoy me. It gets trotted out whenever a pundit wants to make a more dramatic point that isn't supported by what actually happened. Basically if a team gets into the penalty area 5 or 6 times, the pundits argue that every chance could have gone in and talk like they did.
Any team could have scored 5 or 6 goals if they scored with every chance. Any team could have created 5 or 6 chances if they passed well enough. Any team could have won any game if they did different things. Pundits shouldn't imagine a scenario and treat it like it's real.
I just think this line is rubbish. Is there any worth to this that I'm missing? Are there other football truisms that annoy you?
