I'm not worried at all thankfully we didn't get them as owners regardless of the money.

What I will say is the PL is absolutely shameless can't wait to hear what Tebas and Co have to say!!

Funny you mentioned about Arsenal, Spurs, Leicester, West Ham...etc while our own top 4 spot is in serious danger after Newcastle becomes the next City/PSG.
City, Newcastle, Chelsea, Liverpool. How can we break into top 4 like this?
Klopp won't be at Liverpool forever and we consistently outspend them. We're the fourth richest team in the league.

Well, that's not really the truth is it.

A lot of Huge companies discriminate.
They hire mostly men over women.
Some even discriminate over race, prefer asians, more hardworking cliches, etc...lots of examples.

And the thing is, you have at least a 100 great football players, in their prime, who happen to be of islamic religion.

Namely Salah, Pogba, Rudiger, Kante ...

Im just wondering if they will prefer them?

All these digs and jokes on Saudis, most of them funny and not PC, but one mention of religion and every body jumps on my back.
Didn't even mean to go there, just found it interesing to discuss.
I haven't jumped on your back don't generalise, just kidding. All religion is awful.

(Not religious people. One of my biggest beliefs is that people can think and believe in what they want for their own reasons.)

This is sickening and will kill the Sport.

I was against the European super league but to be honest… let it happen.

The biggest and richest clubs in the world will just get richer and the other poor will stay poor so let’s separate them.

Newcastle won’t be the last club to become oil rich and relevant so put all the oil miner clubs and the traditional rich clubs in one league.

All the rest of the clubs would compete in the CL without them. Imagine how much more even and unexpected the results would be. These clubs would receive more money and grow and I don’t have to watch Newcastle vs PSG or City every week.

like I said this won’t be the last oil money club it’s just the beginning so let’s seperate them now.
yeah except two of the oil rich clubs are part of the super league six.

Just glad it wasn't us. I'd rather keep the Glazers.
Look I'm not worried about Newcastle right now but let's not pretend that we wouldn't be fecking ecstatic if some oil baron with bottomless pockets bought out the Glazers.

Sunderland fans must be horrified. Not only their team is crap, on top of that their rivals just won the lottery.

If Saudi's bought us, I think you'd be surprised.
If it's some random oligarch without the heinous backstory they bring, why not.

I think you're right in the main. There would be a few that turn away from united and footy but most would be accepting, as what can you do! Sorta thing. And once a transfer window was close there would be general excitement.
Not sure if that's a negative take on people in general but probably.

Unless you think united fans are different or special and I kind of think we are to. But I suspect that's rose tinted specs. You could be right, well never really know for sure.

Yeah, the first part of this is well documented. The second bit, I think you'd have put equal effort into if there was more than an anecdotal story about it.
You do realize where that horrible "rag" word City supporters use for United comes from right? Post WWII when United were on their kness, City allowed them use of Maine Road, donated money to the rebuilding. It was a word to describe the state of Untied they knicked from their own supporters in the 30's. The clubs were much closer with less of the bullshit hatred you see now blown up by internet hardmen. In fact it is well known City went out of their way to help keep United afloat (something United at the time would gladly have done in reverse had the need arisen.)

But again seeing as some of you guys need educating on your own history...
https://www.thesportsman.com/articl...ory-of-manchester-united-during-world-war-two

There is also the fact Manchester Central were a very real threat to United at the start of the 30's when City were getting 30k supporters, United 3k and Central 7k. City fought tooth and nail for United and with United to stop Central from helping jumping on them and getting into league football..

This is big for Newcastle, they will build some team, and finally they can get rid of Steve Bruce!

By the time they’re relevant, were likely to have new owners as well. I’m just glad it’s not them. Justifying killing a man for nothing but criticism is abhorrent. Vilifying his wife to be is nearly worse which is what a lot of Geordie fans have done - fecking get a grip - football isn’t that bad — look at forest - far bigger club than you. Twats.

Like a peasant adressing the Sire.

There's something vaguely erotic about it as well. Submissive.

Dreadful piece of text.
This is what the combination of years of Mike Ashley and no league titles since 1927 will do to you.

I’d walk away from United to be honest but that Newcastle poll would probably hold true here too (96% accepting it?).

These new owners aren't messing around, they'll quickly see to Newcastle having one of the strongest squads in Europe.

Positives:

1) The PL will re-affirm and establish itself as the strongest, wealthiest, most competitive and most entertaining league in the world.

2) It will give domestic audiences even more glittering fixtures.

3) It will give Newcastle fans something they craved for a long time. A truly competitive team and inward investment into the city riding the coat tails of the team.

Negatives:

1) It will become even more competitive to qualify for the CL or any kind of European football domestically.

2) Less wealthier clubs will not be able to compete sustainably (precedent was set by Chelsea & Man City)

3) Questionable human rights record of the new ownership gives the possible vibe that the PL lacks ethical standards. Although the PL did say the consortium doesn't directly represent the Saudi state and assuming that's true, it wouldn't be as much of an issue.

Ignorant?
For what? Saying it's harder to be a muslim footballer?
For example, alcoholic beverages being major sponsors while alchohol is forbidden in your religion. And then you have to make a statement like Pogba had to while a bottle of Heineken was in front of him.

Not to mention that Salah was fasting before a deciding semifinal game in the CL.

How is it that i'm ignorant?

Educate me then please.
Like why would you even think a muslim owner needs to buy muslim players only? It just doesn't make sense.

We've done polls for it occasionally on here and it's nowhere near that popular. I don't think it's ever been over 50%. Obviously people may feel differently when the time came but I don't think we'd reach anything like 96%. We're just not anywhere close to being as desperate as Newcastle fans yet.

Oh I'm of no illusions the majority would be happy, that was evident when the Saudis were rumoured to be interested in us - loads of posters essentially saying 'I know it is bad but it doesn't affect me so why should I care' but then, given we have so many supporters, there was also a lot of push back against that. When push comes to shove I guess most just want to watch football.

Newcastle are a special case because they've had 15 years of essentially tyranny - they are desperate and maybe we will be in the future as well. I can honestly say I would stop watching us because the club would have become something new and different. FC United would likely see a surge in spectators, that's for sure!

Last league title was 1926/27.
Last FA Cup was 1954.

How are Newcastle fans so entitled? Deserve it? Deserve what? You're not a sleeping giant. This isn't and restoration project of a major giant of a by-gone era; it's the takeover of a club that has fans that somehow convinced themselves and other fans that title challenging is the historical norm for them.

Cause there's a lot of them. They're top 5 biggest in terms of attendances over the history of English football. They've just been insanely wasteful with it for a century.

Wow! I am surprised you are still on this nonsense? Do you also believe Christians hire only Christians and Jews hire only Jews and Buddhist owners are going to hire only Buddhist players?

If not, it doesn't make any sense of you to claim that the Muslim owners will do so. Regardless of how many Muslim players are out there.

And why are you bringing fasting, alcohol and stuff into all this? Maybe it is all making sense in your head, but the only logical understanding that I get is that you somehow have some kind of stereotype about how Muslims operate and you are trying to fit everything into that stereotype.

Without the fecking abhorrent vile entity that is KSA — objectively I’m happy for Toon. They’re football mad like… And football belongs to the fecking North.

If they spend more than us in the transfer market or finish higher in the league at any point in the next few seasons I’m going to look into where the investors got the money and be fuming.

Well not just any Muslim owner, but the House of Saud, who have literally made a concerted effort to promote and export their religion around the world.

It's could also be a form of trying to legitimise the regime by being associated with moderate Muslims.

It happens with other owners too. Why does Athletic Club only employ Basque players?

lmao we're not. it's a cheap stereotype made by people who get their football opinions aerosol-sprayed into their ears by lazy pundits. You couldn't find 10 toon fans genuinely saying we deserve to be top 4 if your life depended on it. I mean, maybe around the time Keegan's first time and the great Sir Bobby Robson. Maybe. I'll give you that. But over the last 15 years or so? Nah. Not even close. Ashley sucked the soul out of the club. We just want to be competitive. Every fan deserves a team that tries.

Unless you were mad over some bog standard rah-rah-rah rally the fans cheerleading from an excited new owner? in which case, relax.

There are examples of this throughout time. Celtic and rangers being the glaringly obvious.
