I think we’d have let him go to PSG uncontested. I can’t remember the last time PSG took a player we supposedly wanted affer Lucas Moura. It’s all gone quiet on Camavinga. We seem to be the ones who go all out to gazump city once they show a solid interest in a player we like and not the other way around. It hasn’t worked too well for us so far with the divisive Fred the pick of those players.
Not sure it's Ed or Murtough job to appoint/sack manager. Surely, this is not the direction they want the club to go.

They’ve both been here a long time and just repeat the same errors, fact Ole got a new three year contract this summer tells you all you need to know about level of competence and ambition at the club.
They’re not daft and will see how we’re playing. I don’t expect them to act now following this Everton performance, but they won’t let Oles run carry on for much longer if we carry on as we are in my view.

I'm pretty sure Murtough has absolutely no authority over Solskjaer.
We may have appointed a director of football or whatever we want to call it, but we're very much still in the Ferguson mode with Solskjaer at the helm.
He's done the same thing ever since he arrived and they renewed his contract last summer.
the difference is the level of investment in the summer though (wages and transfer fees). We’ve brought in 3 world class players who would get in almost any team in the world, and we look to have gone backwards.
The media narrative and in particular, Gary Neville, has changed too, the level of expectation is higher this season. I would class myself as level headed and have been pro-Ole up until these last few weeks, he’s had a good run but seems to have taken us as far as he can, and if current form lasts I think that will prove it and they’ll act.
Just my opinion of course, could be way off the mark!

Thing is even in Moyes and Lvg 2nd season we had horrible runs of form and even though it was glaringly obvious things aren't working they were both sacked only when Top 4 wasn't possible. Which is so stupid cause if you change the manager before you can salvage that top 4.
With Ole we'll be there somewhere near top 4 but never close to the top and that isn't worth it. Ole has shortcomings he can't get over and watching us is painful and has been for a good while. He has taken us as far as he can and this can't and shouldn't go on.
As for CL, we went out last year but he stayed. Maybe if he fluffle our campaign this year he'll get the sack cause its a piss easy group.
Also I wonder if Ronaldo could have a say in Ole leaving?

We’re just dogshit every game, why would he be. We can all see it. Ole knows it too, but he doesn’t have the answers.
That is pretty damning. That simply means our DOF has no say whatsoever on the appointment of the manager and more importantly the style of play for the club.
Worst of all, this also means appointment/sacking of the manager is still under Ed - the accountant with zero football knowledge.
Post SAF, we appointed 4 different managers who play different style of play and required different sets of players.

Haven't you heard? Manchester United is now a training centre for people looking to get into football management/coaching. Experience at the top level is no longer a requirement.
Does this mean both Murtough and Fletcher sit above the manager in the hierarchy?
So he can keep Ole in the job.
Murtough and Fletch’s first real test will be identifying a new manager.
Hopefully Murtough and Fletcher will want to stamp their authority on things.

Okay. So Ed can get away not having to sack the manager. Makes sense. Push it forward.
It looks like himself and Gill have been wrestling some control back in the club. As far as managing the team I'm sure he leaves that up to Ole and doesn't get involved except when he's needed like after the Europa League final loss. Looks like it was Fergie and Gill that pushed Fletcher to take the technical director role.
Busby still calling the shots following his retirement worked well. Oh wait..

Fletcher is very knowledgeable from what I've seen from him. Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Fergie encouraged him to take a role at the club.
