All my mates supporting teams in other leagues than PL joke about Maguire. And this was before this season even.

Its not surprising that uninspiring manager has chosen such an uninspiring captain, he represents the manager perfectly

Will be captain and starting for the next 5 years, best get used to it. Appalling player.
Ole won’t be here next week and I think any new manager coming in won’t have any allegiance towards him and will quickly realise he’s shite,

Actually I don’t think he’s a bad defender but he’s in such horrendous form yet continues to play, who’s fault is that ? Not Maguires, it’s the manager

Have no idea what's happening with him but he needs to be dropped for a while on this form for his own benefit as well as the team's.

Since the Leicester game he’s been by far the worse player starting. Has to be dropped. I don’t care if he’s the captain. Absolutely fecking shite.

I don't know who to be more mad at, Ole or him. Clearly he is shot of confidence and needs to realize that such performances results in him being benched.
Same thing happened with De Gea and only until he's place was under threat, he continued to give subpar performances.

So while I'm fed up of his performances, I feel more blame needs to go to Ole for this.

Hi head is gone, and he needs to be dropped for a while. I don't think he'll get the captaincy either when a new manager arrives, eventually.

I hope he's either unfit or exhausted from the Euros. Otherwise, this seems to be his new normal. Dire in every single match he plays.

Picking him is Ole shooting the team in both feet every match.

He's an average to awful defender. Bad spatial aware, horrible positioning and lacks the pace to recover. Myths were written about his ability in regards to carrying the ball. He's in no way more impressive in that regard than any of the other CB's at the club. Despite his size, he's also surprisingly easy to outmuscle/fight off, I think mostly due to having poor balance. His saving grace is probably is aerial ability defensively, but that's not enough to justify having him in the team. He's just not very good and whoever his CB partner ends up being on the day suffers because of it.

One of our worst deals ever.

Obviously we need more to progress, like an elite manager and a good centre midfield, but Maguire is an issue.

People need to stop lying to themselves that he was flawless last year or even the year before. He was tumescent to start last year & people blamed it on the scandal of his own making & he was at fault for numerous goals after ‘Project Restart’.

We should never have signed him & compounding that with the captaincy is further proof the management are clueless.

Why can't Ole see this?
Probably because he judges him solely on his performances in training. I don't know what he sees there, but Maguire must be very good at deceiving people.

He’s been awful this season but before that he was very good so makes me think it’s a system/form issue more than his overall quality. He’s proven he’s a good player when on form.

Let's ignore all those foreign players we signed and count Maguire twice. Give it up.

We have to drop Maguire, for his own good - we have to drop him. Say he has to go for an X-ray due to a training injury, anything. Just drop him and send him on holiday... When he gets back play him U23s call it "match fitness" so we can get him in form for less important games that don't matter till we can trust him again. But he needs to sit out 5 or so games MINIMUM.

Don’t agree at all, he had a great Euro’s and has been very good for us up until this season.

That's harsh because we genuinely missed him last season at the end. However, the problem is he's not good enough consistently to be captain and Ole just never drops his favorites. He needs to be on the bench based on his absolute shit performances this season

He's on a bad run for sure. Nothing wrong with letting him know he's not been good enough and letting him work his way back in, which I do think he is good enough to do. But you can't keep playing underperforming players, it sends out a terrible message.

Bailly is being showered with praise and was arguably at fault for both goals (albeit the first was unlucky)

Commentators talk some nonsense about Maguire for the second goal, despite the fact he had about 20 yards to make up, and you all swallow it hook, line and sinker

Tell me this, and be honest, if you swap the players, so it's Maguire who lets his forward run off him at a dead ball and Bailly who tries the desperate recovery, who do you all blame?

How can you come out and back Maguire after that performance and instead slate Bailly. Bailly and Varane were covering for Maguire getting caught out of position all night. The commentators? The ones I was listening to, barely criticized Maguire, when they should of been. Maguire get's off lightly from the media and commentators constantly because he's english. He's garbage. Watch the second goal back, yes Bailly gets beaten but Maguire is in no mans land, not near any opposition attacker and he should have covered the space in behind Bailly. If it was Varane I can guarantee he would have covered the space and cleared the ball before the striker could even reach it. You are clueless mate. Maguire is the worst player in this team by a mile.

I still back Ole but him continuing to play this guy despite him being utterly dreadful makes me want Ole out.

Maguire is the teams biggest problem. He's a bigger problem than our lack of a defensive midfielder. How can the coaching staff not see how bad he is?

It's painful to watch. Absolutely awful player.

Agree that he's a good player and he has been very good with England, who play in a very conservative style. I think Maguire is far better than Bailly and Lindelof, and that's been shown in the couple of seasons. But if we were to play a more aggressive attacking game with higher tempo and a higher line, he's an obvious weakness.

He looks like an oil tanker right now. Never been known for his pace, but he has lost several yards after returning, but even adding to that his decision making is lethargic.

Our CB options are now thin all of a sudden, so dont see a short term solution.
