I dont think the sacking of Ole is a quick decision. He has survived consideration for many weeks now.

For me common sense dictates we are not very likely to finish in the top 4 with Conte managing spurs and us with Ole. And the ramifications of that far outweigh anything else.
Ole just got extended for three years, you need to take that into account, from the executives point of view sacking someone a couple a month after a 3 years extension is quick, it's very quick and costly. And since there is no obvious candidate available, that decision is particularly difficult to take since no currently available candidate gives you any indication that he is better than the current managers above us, Conte was on paper the best option but it's not there anymore.

I'm not suggesting that keeping him is the right move, I'm simply highlighting the fact that it's not an obvious or easy decision. Unless things become toxic it makes sense that the board would give Ole as mush rope as they can, now the alternative would be if for example someone like Zidane or ten hag make themselves available immediately.

This inaction is the single most damaging thing that is happening to our club since SAF.

Meritocracy thrown out the window for nostalgia, favouritism allowed to fester, fan sentiment has become completely and utterly irrelevant.

But you realize that it's uncommon? The relationshio that Hiddink or Heynckes have with Chelsea and Bayern executives are abnormal. I totally get people frustration but we shouldn't disengage our logic, clubs rarely have contingency plans for October sackings, there is no surplus of quality managers that are conveniently waiting for your call.

Now I think that Ole should have been let go this summer, to me it seemed that he was at the end of his journey at United but the moment you extend him, you are in a different scenario and there is next to no way to deal with him quickly. People need to show some common sense when they make suggestions about how things should be handled, there is a massive difference between what any of us think as fans and how we would act as executives, no executive will quickly take a decision that is going to cost the club a dozen of millions.
Are you're talking about Ole's payoff money? I've heard it's in the region of 20 million, but I don't know for sure. Either way, buying out Ole's contract can't be any more costly than missing out on CL football next season, which has a very strong chance of happening without a change of management.

It's arguable whether a new manager/interim can get the team to perform well enough to propel us back up the table, but it's no riskier than keeping Ole in charge. We're currently 6th and falling by the way, 3 points above 13th place.

I can see no feasible reason to keep Ole in the job any longer. If I'm missing something, do point it out.

There is one word to describe OGS reign...Incompetence..at every level...we have spent shitloads of money for the past 10 years and still we are far away from being at the top...we are tacitcally inept when compaired to other top clubs and even Brighton, West Ham and so on. We run less and sprint less than almost any other team in the PL. Despite respecting OGS as a player he´s so far away from being good enough to manage United. Brendan Rodgers was one Gerrard slip from winning the title at Liverpool and has done well at Celtic and Leicester and doing so by playing good football. He would be an upgrade on OGS in every aspect though my favourite option is Erik ten Hag. I watch Dutch and German football quite a bit and ten Hag has created a great modern team at Ajax with clear values, ideas and philosophy behind it. OGS threw everything forward against Liverpool and got smacked and against City he tried to sit back and hit them on the counter with no real pace in that team selection. Give me a manager that dares to play attacking poession football and if that means losing once in a while during that process then so be it. This method of sending out teams with no clear patttern or solutions to see and hope for the best is woeful to put it mildly. OGS must go now..even a blind man should see that.

Maybe United are going Green. Make sure we are not in any European competition, therefore not flying here, there and everywhere. World leaders in greeness.

But you did say that you've got to be 3 years old to boo.
I said it's "the sort of shite I'd expect from a 3 year old". Which it is. If you're going to try and be a clever dick, at least be clever.

Then don't give him a 3 years extension.

Was Ole an "obvious" caretaker when we sacked Jose? I am sure we can find someone to take over the reigns for this season if we showed interest. Money talks and the prestige to manage United is not a small allure.

Cool. Fully aware it happens across different sports and at different clubs & frankly I don't particularly care because in my opinion it is pathetic, I don't think anyone I've stood with at any game following any club has actually booed their team before. I think people tend to just walk out if it's that bad, which again isn't something I tend to do but I understand that a lot more than booing. But if you want to stand there as a grown man or woman and go "boooooooo" like you're at a pantomime or something then all power to you.
You really have no idea about sports if you think booing is pathetic and unusual.

Football is entertainment in the public arena and booing is the equivalent of a negative performance review from your assessor. It's just that your assessor is the fans who pay your wage.

Not being able to comprehend something so basic shows worrying delusion and also demonstrates why we keep this no-mark guy in charge when any other club at our level (or two or three levels lower) would have binned him off by now.

And Nothing will change. Clueless by the whole lot , Being happy with Mediocrity is this the new " United way " ? . This is Horrible to watch . We all love this club regardless of wether you agree on certain points on here or not , but I think we can all agree Our club is being run into the ground While we stand and watch a manager who is so out of his depth it's not even funny, Players who haven't a clue to what they are supposed to be doing in the " system " and now look disinterested and past players defending what is simply a car crash . It makes me sad to see it all crumbling before our eyes.

I am not trying to be a dick. Just highlighting that your idea that booing is pathetic, when it's done all across, is bizarre. Would much rather the whole team get booed than abusing players.

There need to be more protests in the ground, not singing Ole's at the wheel like cretinous clowns. No doubt there will be another pretend attack on Woodward's house to distract the media again.

My dad is Ole in still. Says he needs more time to settle in. I’m worried about his health now
Give Ole another 10 years to adapt.
Perhaps the board need to buy Ole the top 5 players on the Ballon dor list, before he can attempt to beat a rival or win a trophy?

Remember when some of the posters were calling for not extending his contract until X-mas? They were absolutely right to do so. Good luck now to moving a manager who has more than 30 months left on his contract. Well fooking done.

Where have I said it's unusual? The act of standing there and going "boooooo" is pathetic. But if you class football as "entertainment" rather than "sport" then that probably explains it.

Ole's and his staff's, they are all on a three year contract. And there is no one on the market that can currently guarantee a CL qualification or mid term quality, Conte was the only one close to it. When people talk about sacking Ole for the CL, they are betting with someone else's money, it could be the right move in the end but it's still a gamble and a gamble that could cost you a lot.

And again, I would do it because I have no faith in Ole but there are no consequences for me.

Smeagol staying then? God this club disgusts me.
You really have to question the mentality of 'fans' who post shit like this about Ole, no matter how bad things have got.

No issue with people criticising the job he's doing, but personal insults like this? It's scummy behaviour.

Another one for the ignore function anyway.

I could just sense the relief dripping off your post. At least a small minority of our fanbase is happy and can enjoy the nostalgia a bit longer.
I made a relevant comment to the post I replied to, and added a "funny" about Sir Alex. Ole is living rent free in your head.

We have a ego of Real Madrid but are run like Sunderland. I think we fans should change our expectations. We are a top 4 club that's all.

Tottenham did just that against United over a week ago.
Cool. I wasn't stood with the Tottenham fans funnily enough. I've not said it's unusual at all, frankly at some clubs it happens every week.

Exactly, it's not like other sports don't have this. And that is much better than personally abusing or targeting individual players/coaches. With booing you are at least letting the whole team know it's not good enough. Quite surprised that people get their knickers in a twist at the very thought of booing and jump on that high horse.
He talks garbage as simple as that.
@Regulus Arcturus Black told you mate our board is a lost cause, they just don’t give a flying about on the pitch matters. This is just so draining.

People living in England, especially the ones in Manchester need to protest outside Old Trafford now and make it clear that we want a new manager. They were quick enough to do it with the super League bullshit. They should do the same now. I know I would be there if I was in England.

Ole was never anything more than a caretaker in my eyes. The hype, the 'Oles at the wheel', the ex-players shouting 'sign him up' on TV, and then the contract was actually given and then even extended. The whole situation has been mental to say the least. I am not saying Ole was all bad and he did initially stabilse the ship but he should have been gone ages ago.

The ship has clearly capsized and Oles boat wheel has truly fallen off.

Ole will tell the board, that they know the problems and need time/ training to solve them. And he had not enough time with the team because they had to recover. Or any other excuse.
The problem is, that this team can win a couple of matches just because of the talent, but under Ole this team will win nothing.

Well the situation was different because Mourinho was creating a toxic environment which I mentioned in the post you quoted. In that scenario, you sack the manager and scramble to find whoever wants to take the caretaking job. The goal wasn't to perform at a high level this season but get rid of Mourinho.

Just posted on United's Instagram profile. He's clearly not going anywhere.

Surely this board can't be so dense that they think that Ole can turn the ship around?
He is completely out of his depth. We just put in one of the worst performances in the last few decades, 2 days ago.
If we gave Ole 10 years and unlimited funds, he still would not have been able to prevent the loss against MCFC or LFC.
He is the worst manager currently in the EPL. Nobody could possibly argue against this. Why can the board not see this?

This is where Ole loses my respect completely. He and his coaching team are just walking round singing 'self-preservation society'. He should save some dignity and walk at this point. Piece take.

Literally every one with a brain said that. Whether you were Ole in or out it made sense not to rush it - he was going nowhere, we got burnt badly last time we renewed him, same for Mou…everyone clamouring for it was solely doing it because they wanted to be ‘right’ and not for the good of the club.

Given that we are now struggling for 5th/6th, I would suggest that we aren't a top 4 club and that we are a top 6 club.
