'If this continues I'm done with United for the season!' Really?

Seems to be a common sign off to posts of late. How many of you saying it would actually see that through?

Admit it: you're here to see the car crash and watch the fallout with the rest of us!

What would it genuinely take for you to not watch Manchester United?

Exactly. I’m Ole out and I’m furious at the incompetence of the board. Im still watching every game possible and refreshing every Utd-related page daily.

I feel like people don't mean that they stop following our games. It's rather just being implied that they don't have any expectation and won't bother with false dawns.

If Spurs still have fan despite being so unsuccessful and having Levy making wild decision while rinsing their fan clean off their hard earned money, there is nothing to stop people following us.

Why would I continue to watch a club who clearly doesn't care continue to produce pub level football because they're too stupid and incompetent to know what everyone else does.

The reason why sports clubs, football in particular, are such attractive investments are because fan bases are 'sticky', we will keep paying to watch. I guess that's the beauty of football when your team is playing well and the curse when they are not.

I have no idea to be honest. It’s like fecking Stockholm syndrome at this stage. I don’t like watching us play, yet I watch every second. I’m rather apathetic towards our results though. The most disappointing thing this season is I don’t really get angry when we drop points or play shite, used to ruin my day/weekend. Now it’s a blip.

I'm no longer planning my weekend around Man Utd games, I watch the majority of games but I've learned to not take it too seriously anymore. It is much easier to laugh at what the club has become. We will always have the great memories. I will always support the club but if the owners don't care about results then why should I?

At this moment when we concede or score a goal, i don't react at all. I am completely indifferent during our games. I simply don't care.

It would do some posters some good to take a little break, probably.

I’ve been ‘fortunate’ so far this season to miss the Liverpool, City, Villa and Wolves games due to other commitments so I’ve not been riled up anything close to like the majority have.

This. I'll continue watching for the most part, but I'm not going to drop everything I'm doing.

I definitely don't watch us for entertainment anymore...

Just watch...because...it's United.

I do mean it. I’ll continue to check for updates but football is entertainment after all. There’s no point ruining my days and weeks following a club that (1) doesn’t entertain and (2) doesn’t care to get its house in order to go back to entertaining. It’s not the first time I have done so either. I get that some people will consider me a bad fan but…whatever.

Plus I have to live with a bunch of Liverpool fans in the house.

I watch our games but I’m not really watching, if you know what I mean? It’s not enjoyable anymore. It’s like a chore.

I also can’t watch anymore pre-match or post-match interviews, as it’s the same old repetitive tripe. Haven’t been able to listen to Ole speak for a long time.

I stopped watching the City match after about half an hour. You saw the walk out during the Liverpool game.

Not even bothering with the next match is a logical step forward. It’s not fun and I’m not a masochist. The loyal Old Trafford support isn’t doing anything for the players. They preferred playing behind closed doors.

I enjoy watching pretty much everyone else in the PL more than us at the moment. Not even been able to enjoy any of Ronaldo’s goals because I feel that strongly against the manager.

If Ole stays at the wheel I'll keep watching purely to enjoy rubbernecking the car crash that will follow.

I think when people say they’re done they mean emotionally done, as in not getting their hopes up for anything good to happen this season again? That’s how I interpret it anyway.

I didn’t feel anything in the Spurs win. I didn’t feel anything with the Atalanta late equalizer. It just felt like prolonging the suffering. The overarching fact that we’re not going anywhere meaningful overshadows everything else.

Yes, ‘really,’ for me. Well, not exactly a ‘done with United’ thing, I still watch all of our games - but slowly but surely, I’m getting to a point where I’m over football as a whole. At least in the all consuming manner in which I have engaged with it for my whole life. The 24/7 - 365 engagement with it is tiring, and like many, I’m not a fan of the ‘modern game’, so to speak. I don’t want to watch a soap opera, and the game is becoming more and more like WWE, with storylines more important than the game, media narratives whipping up some sort of narrative to a point where winners and losers are declared without balls being kicked. This current game where Twitterati are trying to ‘win the transfer market’ and what not isn’t for me.

United being shit is just accelerating my disinterest. Much of what I am seeing is what I’ve seen coming (as have many others) and the club lack any sort of direction. Arguing with people online about the detail of it has also become hugely tiring too, so it’s all a general disassociation from me I guess.

The board and the owners have no respect for the fans. They're sending the team out there every week to get humiliated, fans are paying money to turn up to old Trafford knowing full well the team are going to endure another humiliation and they refuse to do anything about it. If the club have such contempt for the fans then the fans have every right to stop giving a shit.

This is a very easy answer for me.

Either you support the team regardless of whats going on in the club (ie: the players on the pitch), or you're simply just a fan for the good times.

People who only rise to support the team when they play well are nothing but bandwagon fans. It's fine to be pissed off about the state of the club, but take a note from the matchgoing fans, they never stop making noise, sun or rain.

When I was a kid my parents and I were driving down the freeway and we passed a car that was on fire. As we got closer to it we could see the driver was trapped and was literally being burned to death. There was way too much traffic to stop. I couldn’t help but turn to take a long look as we drove away.

Similar situation now.

Spoilt fans who think that success is guaranteed and that no matter what we should win everything.

We have standards that we judge the team by and at the moment there not hitting them, and rightly the manager and the players are being criticised for it. The manager is lucky to still be in the job.

All teams have bad runs of form, poor seasons performing below expectations its happened to all the top sides in recent history it will happen again. At the moment we are the ones performaning below expectation thats football, theres no gaurentee that making changes will actually make a difference there is no gaurentee with any manager that they will get the team performing any better, sometimes its works, sometimes it doesn't.

All we can do as fans is enjoy the ride, the ups the downs and the twists we cant control who manages the team, who plays or what the board do we can complain and birch and moan but realisticly it doesn't make much difference.

What will be will be the lows only make the highs more sweeter when they come.

Emotions running high on here. Understandable, I guess, but I don't think any of them would actually stop supporting United. It's in our DNA.

Deluded fans who somehow think we need to go through football purgatory to win a measly cup is what has led us to this state. See above for a prime example.

Yeah it's like some of them want us to suck for a long time so they can go "see man look at me I supported the club through thick and thin!!!!". It's weird, spoiler alert, you don't have to suck for decades after being good for decades.

That pretty much sums up where I am...I used to get really upset when Utd had bad results... it's par for the course now and I'm not happy...but if the hierarchy don't care why should we...I now watch Sheffield Wednesday with a Wednesdayite friend... it's not brilliant but when you're not watching the second most expensive squad in World football your expectations are somewhat less...Ole is ruining Utd and the board are passive witnesses.

Quite honestly I'm that sick of this club I would take any takeover whatever their issues
You'd be happy with having a owner with enormous human rights violations under their wing so you wouldn't have to feel annoyed?

I only watch United games these days because I have podcasts to listen, so even then I'm only half watching. You take away the pods and I just don't see how I could stomach giving the game my full attention.

i will stop watching if we don’t win a trophy this year. it will have been over 2 years since our last one and there are plenty of clubs out there serious about winning trophies that would kill for a fan like me.
