Boring defensive football is only acceptable if we get 3 points. This was brutal. A little better in the second half, but absolute shite. And Bruno...my god...does anyone give the ball away more than he does? I thought we might see a 4-3-3 today with Bruno on the left and Sancho on the right. Unfortunately I was wrong...

Matic and Fred with the standout performances for me. Lindelof did well too except for that mixup at the start of th game.

Considering the season, a really good point. Disappointed to not come away with the win. Buttclenching final minutes.

Great run of games coming up now, a chance to make up real ground in the league.

Chelsea can all eat a bag of Doritos
Don't we play Arsenal soon who are 5 points ahead of us and playing much better?

My thoughts
  • Ok Result
  • Don't think we played well at all
  • Shocking Subs
  • McTominay is proof that a Midfielder can hide from the ball in order to not be criticised. Given Man of the Match by Sky....
  • Fred had a good game. But showed a good few of his usual mistakes. Needs to be told he cannot shoot.
  • Sancho showed some good moments. Taking him off was a big mistake.

Given how we’ve been this season, it’s a good result. Shocking how much better we are defensively since Ole left. We actually look well organised in shape and pressing. Nothing amazing but miles better than we have been.
No, it's minus Maguire.

Would have taken a point all day long if you'd asked me before the match. Great battling performance against the odds - delighted! :)

Decent result, poor performance. To say we've been badly coached over the last 3 years would be an understatement.

Ronaldo on for Sancho was a terrible sub if Sancho wasn't injured, the only point of the game we actually had any momentum and it took it away. If he was injured, then fair enough, but still felt the game wasn't really set up for Ronaldo.

Content with that considering we were expected to lose heavily last Saturday
This too. Considering the way we've been going in the league. A point at Chelsea is not bad at all.

Good point. Matic and Lindelof were both very good. Bring on Ralf to give this team some shape and discipline.

Played off the park mainly in possession chances corners etc. I do wonder if Ole wasnt listening to Carrick as there is a difference in these last 2 games. Maybe we might have been better with Carrick in charge these last 3 years.
Not a chance. Playing with 11 behind in the ball isnt a good tactic. Anyone could come up with that. Carrick and co. need to leave asap.

Unlucky penalty to give away really. I wouldn't mind if those weren't given personally but accept they are by the current laws.

I just think its really bad luck. AWB doesnt see Silva, Silva doesnt actually have the ball but because he stretches his leg between AWB and the ball there is contact and therefore you're probably getting a penalty...but there's very little the defender can do

More acceptable than 5-0 though isn’t it? You want us to go toe to toe with the best team in the league, managed by someone in his second game ever as a manager.

Sky actually thinking Carrick has done well. Yeah, less shite than the previous shite, but still shite.

Rode out luck first half and were swamped but came out fighting second half and pleased for Sancho.

We still make some braindead decisions and with cooler heads could have taken all three points. Not a bad point. Really thought The Student of the Game Grown Ass Man was going to win it for them when he came on but he was a lump as usual.

Great to not get smashed.

Bad first half. Much improved second half.
Felt with the right subs we could have scored a second and won without hoping for a mistake.

Honest question, in what universe did McTominay deserve man of the match? Carragher must have been watching a different game
Yep. That took me by surprise.

He caused the freekick before the goal and was a major reason why we couldn't build many attacks. He kept playing backwards rather than forward, even though there were options in open spaces.

McTominay must have something on Carragher. It is the only explanation.

Most predicted we'd get smashed. Jammy as feck goal for Chelsea.

Frankly we could have won that.

Point is a decent result at the end of the day.

They said on commentary that Sancho had a knock so people can stop going on about that sub

Happy with the draw in the end but we have so much to improve on. If it wasn't for that stupid penalty we would have won. Oh well, onwards and upwards. Need to start some games quickly
Yeah wouldn't mind if we conceded thanks to a bit of brilliance, and don't get me started on Fred shooting from there. He had Ronny and Jesse right next to him but nope bloody ignored them
