All the anti-Bayern crowd popping in to this thread is fantastic.
You love to see it!

Entertaining game, but again the league proves it's as boring this year as it has been for the last 8 years, apart from the occasional good game.
Okay, go back to more exciting sections of the forum then. I'm sure we'd all appreciate less people coming in here just to say how shit the league is. Thank you! :)

Natural arm position, no penalty.

Sky's ref expert says no penalty would have been the better call. Ah well.. another case of "I guess we just got a bit lucky this time"

 Quite a natural position by Kimmich. Also notice how Kimmichs left arm is outside is body because he's leaning and it has to be there to stop him from falling over.

While I was watching on German Sky I have no idea what was being said, why the ref expert say it shouldn't have been given? No clear mistake to overturn since it wasn't given at first?

He more or less said:
That Hummels' hand ball was not intentional, that there were arguments for a penalty on either end and in keeping with the overall very generous line of the ref it would have been better to give neither.

Müller also said that he would have complained if he was denied Reus' penalty. But that's life in Germany for you: Bayern get the generous judgement, Dortmund the harsh one.

@stefan92 @Kasper @Rektsanwalt assemble!

You can take interest in german football and think the Bundesliga is in a shit state at the same time
state of the league is awful and those ref decisions were a joke. It was very hard for me to tell which club I dislike more. All things considered, I enjoy seeing dortmund lose more than seeing Bayern lose since I kind of lost interest in Bayern as they’re boring as feck. Especially if involves harsh or unfair decisions against Dortmund
Schalke is a little bit more bearable recently than before, even if they’re behind at the moment.

Burgstaller. That's all I can reply.

The referee declined an offer to appear on Sky. Oh well, god forbid someone would have to explain their decisions.

Bellingham not happy either:

People really hate bayern huh?

They genuinely are too good for their own good. Just an unbelievably well run football club but at the same time German football is on a decline, and has been for a while. If there's one league which might benefit from few sugar daddies getting in, it's Bundesliga.

Still, tough to "hate" Bayern because they are a proper club who handle business like top clubs should.

Zwayer is such a cnut, i can’t believe he’s allowed to ref at all. His case shows the corruption and how it’s basically openly tolerated as long as you’re not the protagonist.
still stupid of Bellingham to say it like that, even if he is right. He will get punished 100%. DFB protect their criminals.

To be fair a DFB court came to the conclusion that Zwayer took money to help fix a match. So Bellingham can probably use that for his defense.

How often does a ref get called to the monitor and he doesn't reverse or go with what VAR is suggesting? Don't think I've ever witnessed it myself watching games, when the ref doesn't give pen, VAR calls him to see the monitor and then he sticks with his original decision? Would love to know how many times in comparison that's been done.

Most know its curtains when VAR calls a ref to the monitor.

It depends on the nature of the review. For example if the referee has missed an incident completely he can be called to a review without prejudice of a clear mistake, just in the spirit of: you've missed this, now watch the incident and apply your best judgement.".

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

Good lad.

The protection (from refs associations) and lack of postmatch interviews is ridiculous. Keep calling them out and take the fine..

As someone else said, if he's been found guilty, he's stating facts not accusing him.

Football refs are (almost all) shit.

When push comes to shove there's always a good chance that the ref is generous with Bayern. Sometimes it's a goal that's not given despite the ball being 1m behind the goal line. Sometimes Ribery can gouge his opponents eye, with the 4th official right behind him, sometimes Boateng can block a certain goal by extending his elbow. Sometimes Kimmich can stamp on his opponent and VAR somehow misses it completely.
Cup final 2018 against Frankfurt. Same referee by the way. Didn't give a clear penalty to Bayern in the dying minutes despite going to look the incident at the VAR screen.

It's just nonsense that all decisions go to Bayern. Bayern gets more penalties because they dominate games and have many more touches in the penalty area than other teams.
The Reus incident can result in penalty, it's a 50:50. Hummels was unlucky but it's a clear penalty, similar to Boateng against Italy in the Euros 2016. Or the handball Man United got against PSG in their infamous win leading to Ole becoming their full-time manager. The CL final Liverpool vs. Tottenham is another example. Stupid but a clear penalty according to the existing rules.

If you guys played like today against Ajax and Sporting you would have had easily qualified for the last 16. The referee in Ajax match, I think it was Michael Oliver, was much worse.

I would be rather annoyed with Hummels than the ref. He cost you 2 goals today.

Well and Nürnberg got their replay. Hoffenheim didn't against Leverkusen when Kießling headed wide but the ball found a way into the goal through a hole in the net.

Funny note. Nürnberg got the replay but lost 5:0 instead of 1:0, which sealed their relegation.

I have seen this situation being waved through when hand ball rules were much stricter. So I'm not sure that I can say that the Hummels situation was a clear mistake on a VARable level.
I remember Dortmund fans were livid and demanded a penalty. Rightfully so. But this was another match and yes mistakes happen unfortunately.
