The great thing about these tactics is the fullbacks get lots of space.

Telles got into great positions but his crossing has been very poor.

Dalot is showing everyone why AWB should never play for us again. And he’s not even been that good, he just knows how to play football; AWB does not.
You're getting too excited over a few games. We've been here before with Dalot. We have a proper coach now though, so maybe this is his opportunity to grab finally and kick on

I dont know if it's new manager bounce or actual philosophy change but I enjoyed that. We could be more composed in the final third but Palace hardly had a sniff in our half which is nice for a change.
Hopefully goals start coming soon but I enjoyed the half.

I think Rashford is not suitable in the new tactics. Rashford is good when United is playing counter attacking. His speed is very useful. If United will to play the pressing game, he needs to get into space and have good ball skills. Maybe Greenwood will be better in this type of game.

Actually this is what is the case with our players. They might not be the best in the world in their position but they're showing competency
To get more out of players you need to trust them and give them opportunities. Ole had his favourites and he ran them to the ground. He never tried to reconcile with all the other squad members he had at his disposal. His misuse of VDB has been criminal.

    How are we doing?
Very good off the ball. Pressing high, winning the ball back quickly, forcing Palace into mistakes. For the most part, we've been decent on the ball too, however, we have struggled to create any clear cut chances.

Think going forward, Rangnick will need to come up with ways in which to break teams down. This is something we've struggled with for a while now so I wouldnt expect it to happen straight away but certainly should be a priority in training.

    Certainly positive signs, though.

I like Dalot, someone who can attack, cross, pass and combine was lacking there. He seems to have matured defensively as well. Italy did him good I think.

But right now, he should have passed the ball to Bruno…too bad.
He looks gassed though, which is a result of not having enough playing time.

I wouldn't go as far as to say it was an amazing first half as plenty suggest. It was decent though.

Sure there's some new manager bounce going on, but you can also see that the way we approached the game was totally different than under Ole. Impressive difference given that there's been basically no time yet for training

Good half, for utd comfortable with the ball and without . Control of the game so far, that half deserved a goal wouldn't fall . Same intensity 2nd half. Come on lads .

When Fred or McTominay get forward it breaks down. Could see VDB having a big impact on this game if he comes on.

I cannot remember the last time I seen Rashford play well. Seems like forever.

Average half. As in control as we've ever been under Ole
You have to be joking. We have never ever even controlled a game under Ole, let alone be a threat to the other team or anything like that.

First goal is obviously going to be the hardest to get because Palace are just packing their back lines. Get that first one and, unless Palace shut down completely and accept the loss, we should really start opening them up.

Liking it so far. Obviously a LOT of improvement needed in our passing game but not too shabby for a complete tactical change.

Unless Palace are just waiting for us to tire out after 70-80 minutes and smash us on the counter :nervous:

Palace could definitely nick something here but aside from a couple of sloppy moments you can’t really complain about the performance so far. Exciting times.

I think he looked good this first half tbh. The more central role seems to suit him

Good in parts but McFred is a painfully average midfield pairing when we have the ball. Both are below average passers.

Better than expected so far, in terms of change of style. Pressing's better and the balls forward are more direct. I can see us trying to get the ball forward quickly rather than slowly work the ball up.

But we don't look like it's all second nature yet. We're not quite connecting with passes and moves, and as a result we've not actually created as many chances as our overall good play might suggest. Which is to be expected after a single training session.

My main worry is that we've been amongst the lowest workers in the league so far this season, so fitness might be an issue if we reach 60 mins without a breakthrough.

Decent, not as good as some of the reactions would have suggested but I am enjoying the energy. Lindelof, Telles and Dalot have all been very good pressing up high and moving the ball quickly. Lindelof especially, so used to passive Lindelof that this version is startling, allowed Maguire not have to defend much, which always helps.

    Refreshing performance so far.

I remember a number of these games at OT under Fergie where we dominated but just lacked the last bit (the hardest bit), it happens and is acceptable. What we have seen at OT too often for a number of years though has been the team making the rest of it look harder than it should, which is not acceptable.

This match shows the importance of the modern day full back. AWB and Shaw have been diabolical all season but with Dalot and Telles, Man Utd look far more dangerous.

We have pressed so much better than I can remember seeing from us.

I wonder if part of it is just because the players all know what the manager likes and want to impress. I am hesitant to believe he has suddenly transformed us but we had so many instances where our players just happened to be in positions that put huge pressure on Palace when they had the ball. Maybe it is just as simple as him telling them where to stand when they don't have the ball.

Haven't had so much fun watching United play since Ole's honeymoon period.

    Changes I'd love to see:

    McTominay -> Matic
Sancho -> VDB (and play Bruno LW and Rashford RW)
No chance! Sancho has been one of our best attacking players in that half.
