You forgot to add being black and being associated, and you focus on appearance while ignoring the fact they share the same name. Fact is, as i've clearly demonstrated, that newspapers frequently feck up articles either by using the picture of someone else or getting their names wrong. They usually get their pictures from image databases, and while they should have the common sense to double check all pictures, it's hardly that much of a shock that they find someone with the same last name and who has played against manchester city, the tags are a giveaway here...It's not like they used a personal photo of Mendy about a random black guy.
You've clearly demonstrated nothing. You're talking about that as if it was an isolated incident, it was not. Several newspapper, including major ones, confused the Mendy's.

White people do have a harder time telling black people appart, it's a well known argument for lawyers in court called cross-race bias (or own-race bias). The thing is, white people should be aware of that and be more careful when identifying a black person, especially in a rape case. It is racism by laziness because white people (or any other non black race) choose not to afford a black person the right to be properly identified.

Why in these cases does suddenly
One rape turn into 9 or 10. Anyone know how the police determine whether to charge the defendant or not?

Partly because as it’s made public others will feel more confident about coming forward

Honestly don't get this.
Guy is/was a highly paid professional footballer earning a lot of money and he's out there with his mate raping?

I think it's about power more than just getting laid. Unfortunately some men thrive off the suffering of others and imposing their power over people

Once all that Shark Club bellendery is factored into his sentence he’ll get the chair.

Innocent until proven guilty and all that but already proven he is a complete waste of space as a footballer and if this is true (even just some of it) he is obviously just as much of a waste of space as a human.

Good riddance

Trial isn't until June or August by the look of it now. Bloody hell, he will have done pretty much a year inside before even being tried!

No one should be judging until the evidence against him is presented, after the trial, then it's time to judge.

Why? We aren’t a court of law

Id imagine they could probably sue him on grounds of breach on contract or something to that effect.
Aren't Chelsea still trying to get money from Mutu for his drugs ban? I think the court ruled in Chelsea's favour but Mutu hasn't paid them anything yet.
I guess City could sue Mendy as he is an asset on their books, even if he's only worth £20m or something. He has voluntarily reduced that value to £0 and I'm guessing there is a clause about not breaking the law in there somewhere. Good luck getting any money out of him though, its probably a waste of time even trying.

In theory City could but the idea that they could get him to cough up millions is pretty ludicrous. Yes multiple courts ruled in Chelsea's favour in their pursuit of compensation against Mutu, but it'll just be appeals and appeals and appeals. The fact that this Mutu case has been ongoing for nearly 2 decades is absurd in itself. City could try but eventually they're probably better off just cutting their losses and moving on, as Chelsea should have done years ago.

Mutu at least played on after Chelsea and still earned a bit of money to be chased for.

Mendy could be looking at 2 decades behind bars. He'll have feck all money left to pay them and no real source of income to try even if they go looking.
