Moreso CityWhich one?
Moreso CityWhich one?
It was well known we cashed in on Valencia's brokeness and the players unhappiness to get the move so cheap. Valencia needed someone off the books and Torres was angry he wasn't made captain (no really) so we got him dirt cheap. What he went to Barca for is a fairer reflection of his market value.Thought this myself. Something not quite right here. City making a large profit on a player who hasn’t achieved a great deal in the time he’s been here.
It isn’t like there was a bidding war for him.
Very strange transfer.
Just like Martial's or Amad Diallo's.Thought this myself. Something not quite right here. City making a large profit on a player who hasn’t achieved a great deal in the time he’s been here.

I think its a good deal for Barca to be honest. Considering ferran Torres annual salary is 2 million, and there were reports about him taking a further wage cut.According to the newspaper Marca
- The initial figure of the transfer has been set at 55 million
- the amount is disbursed in four installments and also the first of them will become effective next summer.
4 clauses to collect 10 million extra
- Barça will pay if they win the Champions League and Ferran plays 70% of the matches (45 minutes). If Ferran wins the Ballon d'Or, if he wins the Golden Boot or if Barça sells him for an amount exceeding 100 million euros in the future.
If it was the other way round it wouldn’t feel like we were getting a bargain. This feels very different to me than Leroy did. There's heat on City websites that we're letting him go too cheaply to an enemy club and on anti-City forums like this one that the figure is artificially inflated.
My opinion/guess is that the current City and Barca regimes want to cosy up and do each other favours where possible.
I belive Pep/Txiki and Soriano will all return one day now that Laporta is back as President.
If we sold either of them for £20m more than we paid for them then yes absolutely.Just like Martial's or Amad Diallo's.
Those were signed from feeder clubs. Fifth choice wingers for top clubs don’t tend to sell for over 100% profit.Just like Martial's or Amad Diallo's.
I mean if Amad barely played for Atalanta cost £40M why it's suspicious deal if Torres cost £45M.If we sold either of them for £20m more than we paid for them then yes absolutely.
Because Amad didn't cost £40m. He cost £17m or so and the rest was add ons...I mean if Amad barely played for Atalanta cost £40M why it's suspicious deal if Torres cost £45M.
Well Torres doesnt have a year left on his deal like he did when City signed himIf we sold either of them for £20m more than we paid for them then yes absolutely.
Do you honestly think that a player with Torres market value is goung to play for >2m €/year? That's what squad players at a top club earn who hardly get minutes.I think its a good deal for Barca to be honest. Considering ferran Torres annual salary is 2 million, and there were reports about him taking a further wage cut.
He’s looked absolutely excellent for them. A natural goalscorer. Type of player that’s worth his weight in gold. Great signing for Barca.Thought this myself. Something not quite right here. City making a large profit on a player who hasn’t achieved a great deal in the time he’s been here.

Strange that nobody other than Barca seem to share that view. He’s looked absolutely excellent for them. A natural goalscorer. Type of player that’s worth his weight in gold. Great signing for Barca.
His wage is minimum 5m. Probably closer to 8m.I think its a good deal for Barca to be honest. Considering ferran Torres annual salary is 2 million, and there were reports about him taking a further wage cut.
Barca wanted him. He wanted to play for Barca. What have other clubs go to do with how good he is?Strange that nobody other than Barca seem to share that view.
I don’t think it’s that strange. We have Jesus, Bernardo, Sterling, Mahrez, Grealish, Foden & Torres for 3 spots. Then 7 becomes 6 and there’s still a CF to buy... I think you’ll see another of that lot leave in summer too. Maybe Sterling? Granted one of them drops back into MF a lot when Gundogan or KDB don’t play.Strange for City to let him go, almost feels like Pep is doing his old team a favour an injury here or there could mean City miss him badly.
Yeah but out of those 6 players only Jesus can play down the middle and not even that effectively, suppose if you buy a striker in January it would make more sense. The Haaland to City rumours are getting me a little nervous.I don’t think it’s that strange. We have Jesus, Bernardo, Sterling, Mahrez, Grealish, Foden & Torres for 3 spots. Feels like smart business to me, to replenish some spending money without really hurting the squad all that much (when Pep confirmed he also wanted to leave). What’s clear is our next attacking talent does need to have age on their side. Haaland or Vlahovic seem the obvious choices.
Bernardo hasn't played in the front three at all this season, but since you've omitted Palmer, it still works out with Ferran leaving. If anything, the midfield is light with 5 players (or more realistically 4.5 looking at the state of Fernandinho) for 3 positions.I don’t think it’s that strange. He's currently on £2.4 m.His wage is minimum 5m. Probably closer to 8m.
If you genuinely believe that Torres would have taken less than he was reported to be on at Valencia to go to City, and then take even less to move to Barca, then I don’t even know what to say to you. He's currently on £2.4 m.
You made those figures up, didn't you?
Why don’t you just focus on the reported facts than plucking figures from up your backside? If you genuinely believe that Torres would have taken less than he was reported to be on at Valencia to go to City, and then take even less to move to Barca, then I don’t even know what to say to you.
2.4m is what a fringe squad player would get.
Seriously what happened? Weren’t they in a financial crisis?Barca aren't skint anymore I guess. That little crisis lasted just long enough to shove Messi out the door it seems. Now they're spunking 50 million on Man City reserves.
Really smells off this deal. Barca have a near £1.5 Billion debt. They've bid £50 Mill straight off the bat for an unproven player who wasn't being chased by any other club. Who does this.Seriously what happened? Weren’t they in a financial crisis?

Unproven? Everytime I saw him play he did very well.Really smells off this deal. Barca have a near £1.5 Billion debt. They've bid £50 Mill straight off the bat for an unproven player who wasn't being chased by any other club. Who does this.
4 installments, the first one to be paid in summer.Seriously what happened? Weren’t they in a financial crisis?
The player wanted to leave, nothing extraordinary for a young Spaniard not settling and wanting to go home when he knew Barca were interestedSo why did they sell him? Very surprised by this.
Fifty million is a heavy discount for him? How? He's been decent but not pulled up any trees for city and its unlikely to be anything other than a useful squaddie long-term. Looked good for Spain but I definitely wouldn't say he's heavily discounted at fifty million. City also turn a tidy profit on him.Unproven? Everytime I saw him play he did very well.
Love it that City lose a player like him.
Hate it that Barca are getting him for what feels like a heavy discount.
