Those are all even games.
Yes even games, but I would believe that Wales would rather face Austria at home and then the winner of Scotland Ukraine at home, than a face-off with Nigeria or Senegal in a 2 leg game. I think both Europe and Africa have the toughest routes to WC.

I hope Sweden can make it and I think we have a manageable first game at home vs Czech, if we get through, then it will be away to Russia or Poland. There aren't many African teams I wanna face rather than this opposition. But it is still a decent draw. With some bad luck, we would have had one of Portugal and Italy in our path... Funny to say that, we faced both in our last 2 WC playoffs, lost the first despite Zlatan doing GOAT stuff, and we won the second against Italy.

Yes. It's one of the reasons why Africa gets the most extra places once the world cup is expanded. I think Africa gets 4 extra places iirc.

Burkina Faso have been an awesome team at AFCON in recent years. They will be one of the biggest beneficiaries of CAF getting 3 more spots at the WC.

In other news, Al Alhy beat Monterrey FC in the CWC to advance. @el3mel smugness factor: 6.73

Great turnaround by Cameroon. Bronze medal games always surprise you.

Pitso Mosimane seems to be doing a great job, and now in the CWC without most of their top players. I'm guessing they won't have any of the international players back in time for Tuesday's semifinal?

No player from the national team will be physically ready in such quick time for a high intensity match like this. Anyway, the fact we got past Monterrey in such circumstances is a big achievement on its own, regardless of what happens in the next two matches. My same opinion on AFCON final.

I'm massively satisfied.

Are you aware that if you put Senegal, Egypt or Cameroon in UEFA, due to ranking FIFA they won't be top seeds, so they would have to take the 1st place in the group(to qualify directly) from Germany,England,France,Italy,Netherlands,Portugal,Spain, etc right?

It's only easy for big teams, not for the rest.

Beating dross like San Marino and Malta doesn't change anything, they lose to everybody, which is why matches against such teams are pointless, and shouldn't even be played.

I've criticized UEFA qualifiers for having games against San Marino,Malta, Andorra, etc who are pointless...but on the other hand, it's the only confederation when tier 2-3 teams are, most of the times, forced to upset a big team to qualify directly to WC.
No other confederation has that, kinda unfair for tier 2-3 european teams imo.

That being said, i consider African qualifiers difficult for teams not called Senegal,Cameroon,Ivory Coast or Nigeria.
Cameroon and Côte d’Ivoire were in the same group in the second round with Cameroon finishing first, knocking out the Ivory Coast from World Cup qualification.
Cameroon has also failed to qualify for the last WC in 2018 and are going to have to beat Algeria over home and away legs in order to make it to Qatar.

So, no, the African qualifiers are very difficult for all involved. Also, there are at least 12 decent to above average level teams affiliated to CAF, making it a gruelling qualifying system to pick out just 5 out of 54.

I have a £50 stake on:
Porto Win 3/10, PSG win 4/5, and Mane and Salah to have at least one shot on target 7/10.
Which would give me a return of £198.90

Knew he’d miss. I’ve never been confident of him taking one for us because I’ve never seen him step up for one even when we’ve had shootouts!.. whys he taking them? Surely they have someone else.

Just need a shot on target from Salah now. On a serious note, I hope Mane doesn't let this get to him.

Think he's already taken and scored one in this tournament... But yeah, I don't think his record is anything great?

Nope I don’t recall him taking any for us, maybe one in a CL game years ago that he missed I could be wrong. He also missed the only pen for Senegal in the 2017 semi final that knocked them out.

That was quick, not the 30th minute yet and Porto are winning 2-0 and Salah and Mane have already had one shot on target.

It’s unwatchable, the poor state of the pitch is affecting the quality of the passing coupled with the fact that the cameraman’s in the upper tier.
