A tad outlandish, but enjoyable. Enjoyed the movies, but never would have known that this portrayal was a more true JR.

It’s decent enough. I’ve binged most of the first season already. Thought the first couple of episodes had more edge, and the fight sequences have deteriorated as it’s gone on. But it’s enjoyable nonetheless, and I’ll happily watch another season of this.

Even though Cruise is obviously a much better actor, this certainly makes his interpretation a bit of a joke, given the imposing stature of the lead actor.

Edit: Finished it. The end is pretty shit tbh. This started off strongly, a solid 8/10, but finished as a 6/10.

Watched the first couple of episodes so far, and really enjoyed it. Probably helps i haven't read any of the source material, though the fact the main character is big is keeping my dad happy

One thing that is missing from the books is his inner monologue.

3 episodes in, and enjoying it so far. Yes, Reacher is ridiculous, but its still fun.

I do think he should have been played by an older actor though, not read the books, but he's crammed a lot into his life for a younger guy.
Reacher's back story (books) has him leaving the army at 37, Alan Ritchson is 39 so the ages pretty much match up tbf. Remember this is book 1 set not long after he leaves the army.
As a fan of the books i was a little apprehensive of the series especially after Cruise and the trailer but 5 episodes really enjoying it. Not my favourite Reacher book so hoping the series continues.

Ah OK fair enough. Tbh I didn't realise he was that old, looks younger.

Prefered the Tom Cruise movies to this. Then again i never read any of the books, nor will i do so. So cruise as reacher is perfectly fine by me. He has more charisma in screen.

Using One Shot as the first Reacher film was a huge mistake I thought.

After watching it all although I enjoyed and think Ritchson makes a very good Reacher (thought Neagley was pretty good too) the medal thing annoyed me. Anyone who read the books knows the real story of the medal.
Hope it comes out if the series gets extended and The Enemy is made

Just finished binging it and thought it was pretty good. Couldn't really get into the Cruise movies because of the size thing. As a book reader there was too much dissonance going on. Reacher's whole thing is his imposing size. Anyways, started out 9/10 but the last 2 episodes were meh. Also, Willa Fitzgerald is

Too watchable so binged the lot in one viewing! Prefer this Reacher to Cruise’s portrayal and he was good. Looking forward to the next series. 7/10

Watched a couple of episodes and it is cheesy turn your brain off and enjoy the ride type fun. Nothing wrong with that.

I loved the books, I have read them all, and they are so easy to read and enjoyable.

I think this series is much closer to what I felt reading the books. Reacher himself is maybe a little too clean cut, but I think he nailed his personality and tone and I thought the supporting cast, particularly the detective and Roscoe brought those two characters to life very well.

Nice, easy entertainment and faithful enough to the books to make it very accessible and enjoyable for Reacher fans. Great stuff.

Feet up at home.
Scene at the end:

Anyone else expected more to it when that guy nearly bumps into him in the diner? Just watched it again and it seems to serve no purpose whatsoever. Could it set something up for the next series or am I just completely wrong?

*Edit* Just found out what it was about thought there was something about it.

I have no idea what Lee Childs looks like but when that happened I was 100% sure it was him. Must be something about having Lee in your name and having weird cameos in movies made on your writing :)

Finished it.. Great fun I liked the movies but just couldn't get past the sofa jumping midget acting tough. For god's sake JR is 6"6 not 5"5. But Hollywood doesn't care much about that. This series fixes that problem that guy is huge but I find him a bit to youngish but that is just me. Liked the series a lot and really hope they get on to do the second series right away.

6 episodes in. The characters (especially Reacher) start to get very annoying after a while...

"I can tell by the way your hair is parted that you're from the mid west and the fact that you wear odd socks tells me that you're not married, probably divorced judging by the crows feet around your eyes..."

Just feck off.

The 8.6 on IMDb is way to high for me.
It was a 7 at best. Still very watchable but as some have already said, its switch you brain off and just enjoy kinda series. Finished it in 2 sittings.

Watched the first couple of episodes. Enjoying it so far.

Like someone said the whole Reacher inner monologue is missing.

Liking the Roscoe woman, although I'm sure she was black in the book?

I don’t think so. I just did a quick skim of a book pdf and, while she is described as dark with dark hair, Findlay mentions he is the first black cop in the department’s history. Could be wrong though.

Finlay is annoying as well. Reminds of Brother Mouzone from The Wire.
Yeah I dunno if he's supposed to be like that in the book but brother Mouzone and the main guy in Green Book immediately sprung to mind. Hollywood has a weird obsession with putting well spoken black men in fancy suits and making them irritating.

Wouldn’t put this one on solely on Hollywood.
I can’t remember if he was irritating but in the book he was essentially described as a black guy who talks and dresses like a Boston banker.

The voice was deep. Like a rumble. Not a southern accent. He looked and sounded like a Boston banker, except he was black.

Fair, just seems so out of place. It's like to highlight that he's not from there they made him as uptight and up-spoken as possible.
it’s almost like it was written by someone not from the US who was leaning a bit too hard into stereotypes :)

Lee Child bumping into Reacher at the end was funny.

Lee Child has said that the series writers write Roscoe way better than he did.

He is also upset that
Willa won't be returning for future seasons.

Just finished it. I reckon if there had never been a Tom Cruise sham version of have thought this was grand only.

Because there is a Tom Cruise sham version I thought this was brilliant.
