Crazy how weak our bench has become. No Cavani, Martial on loan and the other guy done. Athletico have game changers on their bench they can bring on. It's going to be an interesting tie for sure.

Just hope that our players and ref don't get suckered into the theatrics I fully expect from these lot.
Yeah Suarez and Griezman versus Lingard and Elanga. I like Elanga but still it would be nice to have a little more firepower in reserve.

Well ,I bet Diego Simeone didn’t see this setup coming either ,so let’s see how this turns out.

Really worries me that they have a very workmanlike team as well.

I was quietly confident for this game. Not anymore.

    Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
    Ralf quotes:

"Yes, we decided to choose a line-up and a formation in which we could always react to what Atletico do. We can play with different formations and change during the game, and still have enough physicality and also physical size for set pieces, whether they are for us or them."

    **Why McTominay is missing**

"He's ill unfortunately. I spoke with him this afternoon and he's still not feeling well. We had a little bit of hope that he might be available. So we needed to find the best possible formation and line-up without Scott."

One thing is for sure, it's good to be in the CL knockout stage again and have something to hope for.

Mate, all Man Utd official sources, app etc, show the usual 4-3-3. Would be bonkers for all of them to show misinformation like that.
means nothing, IMO. They've often been off in the past. Also, the United app shows 4231.Rangnick was just on the telly, pointedly not answering a direct question about the formation.

It's one thing starting Ronaldo in a game where we will need to work like dogs to get anything but Rashford also? Fecking madness. That complete absence of workrate upfront will kill us.
Rashford actually can defend quite well when bothered, and usually got big games he is, so chill the hell out.

I saw the line-up and thought 3 at the back but if it is 2, Lindelof has played right back before and done OK.

I find it absolutely hilarious that people her are talking up Lindelof's passing ability as if we have enough evidence of it. Dalot and AWB are not the best crossers around but how can we pretend to think Lindelof is better?

I've liked Rangnicks opinions and lineups so far but disagree with Lindelof at RB and Rashford or Sancho as wingback.

Risky call from Ralf. Hope it works out for us but can't see those options working.

    Hopefully it's a 200IQ move from Rangnick.

Rangnick should be a politician. Dodged that line up question so well

    "how will you start?"

"hopefully very well like against leeds :wenger:"

Who'd have thought naming Lindelof at RB would cause all this. Bunch of hysterical weirdos
It's just normalised behavior for quite a few on here, whinge and moan about everything and never actually enjoy a match. Even victories are just met with reviewing individual performances of players they don't like.

I predict this will be a game to make your eyes bleed. Spanish sides apart from the big two are an absolute chore to watch and Atleti under Simeone are kings of it.

Shithousery, diving, screaming at the ref and just 90 minutes of general anti-football.

Surely shows you what Rangnick thinks of Dalot & AWB when he’s playing a CB at RB. Unless he’s playing 3 at the back and deploying Rashford/Sancho as a right wing back which I hope isn’t the case.

Expect Lindelöf to stay quite conservative while it allows Shaw to play very attacking and wreak havoc together with Sancho, so definitely more focus on attacks through the left than on the right I think.

I’m not always in agreement with you, but this is spot on!

Come on reds! Let’s not be the only English team to not win the first leg. A positive result here will give the team a whole lot of confidence and will set us up nicely for the Return leg at old Trafford.

No evidence that he can cross from wide I would agree but he hits 3 or 4 beautiful long passes most games that he starts and he is far more comfortable running with the ball than either Dalot or AWB so there is that. If he has been tried there in training and shown he can cross it then maybe RR is about to pull off a master stroke.

According to Sam Pilger, Rangnick is not at all impressed with Wan-Bissaka. No surprise there - he's barely a footballer, let alone a good enough right back.
