This isn’t a midfield for a game like this. We don’t have any other options, mind you. Unless we bring on Matic, who is nearly dead.

What a shambles our recruitment has been.

from the first few seconds when ddg (Mr I'm stuck on my line) didn't come for the ball and maguire put it out for a corner, you could tell what was going to happen

We need to take pogba off for Matic, get out of here with a chance at old Trafford, he’s offering zero apart from giving Atleti possession

For their goal the delivery was superb and Felix's positioning was reminiscent of RVN positioning, the finish was fantastic, not much could be done about it.

However we've been shit and all over the place, Atlitico drop deep and let us keep the ball where we have zero quality to penetrate their defences, and and then they would launch an intense pressing that would force us into mistakes and losing possession.

Pogba and Bruno are terrible in midfield while Rashford and Sancho are basically extra bodies and doing nothing at all.

Clearly we need a RB on, Lodi has free reign down the left. As for individual subs, I don't even know if it will make a difference.

We've been utterly terrible as a collective unit. You could take anyone off they've been that bad. We need to sort ourselves out collectively first.

    Players playing shite, Moyes out.

Players playing shite, Van Gaal out.

    Players playing shite, Mourinho out.

    Players playing shite, Ole out.

    Players playing shite, Rangnick out.

Poor players, not being able to pass the ball a few yards cos of the bad manager.

    Anyways, for future reference…

    Players playing shite, Pochetino out.
Way to make a point

    HELLO
This isn't a rangnick team, so I don't understand why he is getting abuse over this. The squad is a mess
I'm all for giving Rangnick leeway but the lineup is a shocker.

Pogba, Fernandes, Sancho, Rashford and Ronaldo away in the CL is mental. Even moreso when youve Fred at the base of your midfield

But Fred can't control the ball.and is predictably dire. Id even have ancient Matic ahead of the ponderous Fred. At least we know Pogba and Bruno can do better. But they don't like being pressed. Fred has never been good enough. You need all midfield components working. But Fred rarely offers anything. So we are shafted.
Still cant believe we didnt get a DM during the winter period... McT isnt good at it and Fred is even worse at being a DM

Ive always maintained the players are not utd quality, they are not quality enough to be playing at this level.

    No manager can polish turd.

If you think Dalot will be a liability defensively there then put on AWB.

But you'll go on and say he's not good in attack, as if a CB will actually be.

Can you think of any actual good reason to go with 3 CBs out of the 4 backline ahead of our actual right backs or are you going to spend the night trying to shift goalposts and twisting the actual point ?
Doesn't matter who was the RB in that first half. Would make zero difference.

Really poor half by us. Never got into any sort of rhythm, they haven't allowed us to with how quickly they're on us. Oh and they're incessant fouling. Pogba has suffered the most from it, but no one has been good. Ronaldo has only had the ba deep which is a terrible sign.

It really was a disaster to concede so early. Plays into their defensive/counter attack style perfectly.

It was kind of predictable. Atletico is a team that doesn't give you time to do much and when you manage to break their pressing they are also good at retreating and shutting the shop. So when you have a numerical disadvantage in midfield and is generally not a team that breaks defenses easily, Atletico are a headache. We have the players to score with individual moments but we don't have the structure to do it systematically.
I think it's mainly because their intensity level is a level higher so any space that gets found is quickly closed down. Their CMs play as a unit and ours are completely disconnected from each other

    Ralphs master plan,

He knows we cant play 90 minutes of Ralph ball so he now has us playing crap in the first half to come out like Champions in the 2nd!

    Full Time 2-1 United!
that would be a bigger theft than the Hatton Garden heist!

Was always a weird decision to switch our best centre-back to right-back to accomodate Harry Maguire's travelling circus act.

Varane hasn't been great either, and is a reputational pick at this point... although he's obviously our most talented defender and will hopefully get there in time.

I don't want Atletico to go through. The hell was that? Man Utd players aren't up for a fight?

Atletico are thugs. United have to match them physically as well as technically.

And the center backs and midfield can't keep giving the ball away. This is ridiculous.

C'mon United. Still in this. Fight!

11 fouls to 1 yellow, its clear this ref isn't brave, we're most likely to get booked next for complaining about getting hacked down another 20 times

Danish pundits (Jesper Grønkjær and Preben Elkjær) think this is the worst 45 minutes they have seen from United this season.
I actually think they could be right. We’ve seen some shite but even during the Liverpool and city games we did occasionally manage to keep the ball for longer than 2 seconds.

Imagine this lot during the treble run-in. 2-0 down at the Stadio Delle Alpi, these players get back on the plane at half time.
Well, our captain is Maguire. That’s sum it up.
And in terms of talents we are nowhere near anyway…

0-1 isn’t the end of the world to be fair - I do think we can beat these though, it’s just simple stuff like sorting out some simple passing and making them chase a bit. We look so scared all the time, where’s the collar up Cantona type with their chest out, we need that in these big away games.

De Gea set the tone for the first ten minutes through his usual fanny act in the first minute.

Might as well have turned it off then.

Atletico had two chances and one goal, what domination from them are we talking about here? The only domination they had was defensive one, being very organized, and kicking around everyone deserving yellow cards left and right, the only dominations they had.
You're right but they've also looked threatening in how they are playing. He haven't had any chances nor have even looked remotely threatening. The game is still there for us if we improve 2nd half though.

We’ll be very lucky to leave with just a single goal defeat sadly. Hopefully we can change things at OT but I’m not confident
