Yeah obviously they have the capacity to completely level the city and everything in sight but the fact that they've not been willing to go to that lengths gives me slight glimmer of hope that there is a way out of this, and that those nuke threates are not genuine.
The news in the UK suggests our Foreign Secretary is responsible for upsetting the Kremlin and the nuclear comments made by Putin.

It could be very risky to do that. NATO will not allow them to do so, now that there is an open talk of Ukraine potentially joining EU. So, if Putin goes all out it is either direct involvement of other armies in the conflict or even more severe sanctions that would paralyze Russia altogether. Grozny was very very bad, but it was still inside of Russia, while Ukraine has been a sovereign state and has already substantial amount of its territory occupied by Putler's army.
Hope you're right but I have a bad feeling this is exactly what will happen. I don't believe the US (NATO) will enter a confrontation.

The threatening of nukes is Putin's only available tool to scare the countries he can't bomb. He wants to scare all of us into not helping Ukraine.

If he wanted WW3 he wouldn't have started with a haphazard invasion into Ukraine.

These Turkish Bayraktar drones are both incredible and terrifying. Talk about great responsibility coming with great power.

Those flags are hugely irritating, I don't know how you have the patience to see past that.
Twitter has a text limit. They are useful in that regard to save characters. God bless you for focussing on the real issues though!

Liz Truss is, like most of the Cabinet, utterly incompetent and should never be anywhere near a great office of State, but even so blaming her is laughable.
I thought so myself. I’m not a fan of the current government and it’s individuals however I must admit the PM has spoken better than other European leaders and has taken action must sooner.

BTW it's bollocks when they say that their nuke operators have been put at high alert. Just listened to an interview with a Polish military expert and those forces have been at high alert for every single minute of the last 60 years.
Missile silos are always staffed by all that have them, regardless of alert status. In that sense they're always alert. The real changes of heightened alert status (and these are all just possibilities, have no idea which the Russians would actually undertake for each level): readying additional silos with missiles that were maybe down for maintenance, putting more missile submarines to sea, more personnel at bomber bases having to be at base. For the US the higher levels probably include bombers starting to do patrols around the clock.

These real world actions are the meaningful part of raising alert levels, but they come at a cost in terms of equipment and personnel readiness, so they can't be kept up indefinitely. Eventually all of the equipment needs maintenance, and the personnel needs rest.

I'm with you, my brain doesn't get on well with it at all and I have to rewind and read again.

In case anyone thought Russia was entering the talks in good faith:

Sure he is.
Became rich in a very shady way. No one cared.
Financed illegal jewish settlings in the West Bank. No one cared.

Now when he finally seems to be on the right side is when people start calling him out? That's ridiculous.
Stealing Russian public funds and Palestinian land is not frowned upon. Most of us simply don't care.

Regarding "the right thing". There are no genuine negotiations. Putin is just playing around.

Substitute "no one" with "Tory party and Chelski fans" please.
To be honest, it is not limited to the Tory party and Chelsea fans. Most of the establishment in England has been quite friendly to the Russian oligarchs. And to the dirty money in general. It was a big mistake and a strategic error as established by Navalny.

Abra is being called out for his relationship with Putin. He is one of Putin's enablers. And if there is no crackdown on Putin's friends and their ill-gotten wealth, the financial sanctions targetting Putin's inner circle will be rendered meaningless. And all that will be achieved with these sanctions would be hurting the people in Russia. The regime would still be strong enough and rich enough to hold on to power.

Boris Johnson is coming under real pressure to do something about Putin's friends in Engaland and their money. It is about time.

They would have been at high alert since the minute operation started anyway. This likely meant nothing in practical terms.

That's an explanation, thank you, although it still irritates :)
Just bookmark those comments for the inevitable war that is started because someone used the wrong flag on twitter.

Exactly. Or what is the point of having them if not to pose a credible threat.
As I have mentioned, their guidence systems are constantly checked and targets updated.
And just like the US & UK, lots of them are already in submarines under the sea.

I stumbled upon one of his videos a few months ago. the guy is an absolute clown.
Starts out by comparing Ukraine to Don Corleone and says Russians would never ever hurt civilians.

I'm letting it run in the background as entertainment.

Are they attacking Donetsk though? Or BS?
There's no evidence to suggest they are.

Generally speaking, Twitter usually gives us images and video of everything. Some of it is fake while some of it is real.

But there doesn't appear to be anything - either potentially real or potentially fake - that corroborates the RT claim. If it was true, you'd expect there to at least be something that was somewhat convincing.

So most likely, it's BS.

Right now, Russian rubel is becoming joke. Putin has made some big mistakes about his plans cause a lot of troubles to Russia especially economics. In the future, Russian rubel will have a value as much as blank paper. I feel like Russia must uses a lot of gold reserves future.
Welcome to european Zimbabwe. A trillion rubles for a cup of polonium tea.
