Look at the bright side. We can now devote all of our attention on overtaking Arsenal for 4th so we can be in the CL again next season. Let's face it, we weren't winning it anyway and having to play in another round would most likely cause issues around the matches that really matter for the remainder of this miserable season.

Will always support utd through the worst of times, but I have to say these are dark times. Ten Hag is the answer to our problems. I really hope the board is not clueless and hires Poch.

Subs were a little bizarre. Also, Cavani seems to be getting an easy ride, despite seeming to lose the ball almost every one of the few times he competed for it when he came on. It's almost like players actually need match sharpness to perform.

tactically lost. We were also not able to create chances. I love bruno, but stop nagging man! he needs to stop this. He loses focus. Maguire was bad as usual. Sometimes i feel he creates a mistake (dribbling around himself in his penalty box!!). Full backs weak. Today’s mctiminay is the bad one. Sancho wasn’t good, elanga bad. We are really terrible!

fred and ronaldo were good in the first half but faded away later

Some players should not see the first team again. Maguire being on top of the list. The season is gone - won’t even finish 4th for sure.
Don't agree with your comment about the full backs, or Mctominay. Agree with the Maguire statement.

He was impressively shit. All the subs were, apart from Matic.

Have to say too the substitutes had zero impact. Pogba, 90 million, the biggest game of the season with the pressure on didn't get a kick. Less said about Rashford the better.

20 minutes to go desperate for a bit of quality.
Let's bring on Cavani, Rashford, Mata, Matic, and Pogba.
Just about sums us up at the moment.
Total lack of quality, including the managership.
Firkin dire.

We were unlucky with Elangas chance but apart from that and especially second half we were so poor.
Rashford and Pogba were terrible. What has happened to Rashford.

You need to take the blinders off. What team have you been watching? This sack of dung isn't catching anyone.

How many of these players today should be in our first 11 lineup next season?

Sancho
Telles
Varane
Dalot
Fernandes
DDG

6!

We still need a CB, CDM, CM, RW and ST.

Akanji, Rice, Tchouameni, Antony/Raphinha and Lewandowski would be my signings.

Lewandowski
Sancho Fernandes Raphinha
Rice Tchouameni
Telles Varane Akanji Dalot
De Gea

We still need an overhaul and there's ALOT of aging players and players at the end of their contracts or should be sold:

Matic
Jones
Lingard
Henderson
Bailly
Maguire
Fred
Ronaldo
Cavani

We need 9 out and 7 in over the next year.

Needed a much stronger referee. Simeone's team are cast in his own image. Horrible cnuts.

That said, there's so much wrong with this United team one barely knows where to start. Only positive is that I now get two weekends that won't be ruined watching this them.

Well, it started well. But looking at past decade it’s clear the club lacks vision. Who the f*ck are we, how do we play and what is our strategy? We need to fix this if this club is to challenge for trophies ever again. Look at where Atletico were 10 years ago? Ended the season 44 points behind Champions Real Madrid, champions a few years later and in the CL final twice. All we need is a vision, this is NOT impossible. The club needs to step up! I’m sick of scapegoating players like Maguire, Rashford, McTominay etc.

It's not as cool to bash him as it is to bash Rashford, but he was equally useless and has been since he came back from injury. Fairly sure Ronaldo coming pissed him off and now he doesn't care because he's never going to get picked over him.

No manager in their right mind would take the United job now, it’s a hiding to nothing. I can’t see anyone who could come in and give these players a backbone. 4 trophies and we’ve whimpered out of all of them.

feck the lot of them off and start again from scratch. Sick of all of them.

Gutted to be out tonight. Didn’t think we deserved the win, thought we did enough to not go in at the break 1 down though. Atletico weren’t brilliant tonight but they showed a lot of experience.

Probably our last UCL game in a while which is pretty crap for our club.

We fell right onto their trap though, every single time.

We go into next season with Telles and Dalot anywhere near the first 11 and we will be in the same position we are now!

I'm willing to use this newbie post as a chance to say, feck this team. feck this last 9 years, even with 45 mins you knew they wouldn't respond given how they folded against City. Not a pair of bollocks between them.
Probably shouldn't have...

Knew they were shithouses but what really boiled my piss was their subs warming up on the sideline and deliberately interfering with play. Should have red carded them.

Was their a reason Simone did a runner tonight, or is getting pelted just par for the course with him?

Rangnick usually gets the subs right, but putting Pogba and Rashford on was dreadful.

My expectation are not very high for this team, so I was fairly pleased with how they performed tbh.

Gave away the customary 1 easy goal but apart from that they were solid defensively.

I can't help but feel we've been fecked over by the refereeing team on this one. But that's just me.

The days are gone when I stay angry after a game like that, we aren’t savvy or good enough to beat a team like Atletico over 2legs, ok 1st half, rubbish 2nd half , we weren’t robbed or cheated, we just aren’t good enough, simple as that unfortunately

We just make up the numbers in Europe, miles behind with a makeshift team

Bruno was embarrassing tonight. Makes you wonder if he's got the mentality for a big club. Felt more interested in moaning and chasing the ref than playing football. Another big night and he didn't turn up.

First half was decent, even if the possession was fairly sterile, but yet again we only turned up for a single half. It’s quite staggering how poor and panicked we were with the ball after conceding.

Bruno really disappointed me yet again against a good team in a key game. He frequently looks out of his depth against sides of this quality. Rashford is just utterly gone at this point. I can’t explain that one.

Our team at the end was a depressing sight. Cavani, Mata, Matic and Pogba are surely gone at the end of the season, and there’s big doubts over Rashford and Ronaldo too. We’re in a real mess and it feels grim after every defeat.

Referee was shite, but they could have given us 90 minutes of injury time without us scoring.

The only guy who shows for the ball and wants to try and create was taken off the pitch. Bruno might misplace half his fuking passes but at least he shows for the ball every time...tries to create...no one wanted that ball in the last 20 minutes bar Matic. Everyone else hid.

In the matchday thread, yesterday, I noticed that the majority of fans voted that we'd win.
I was one of the few who said that we are highly unlikely to win.
I am unsure whether or not fans are actually watching us play or not.
This MUFC side is one of the worst (barring Moyes' MUFC) I have seen since I started supporting them in 1995.
We won't be winning the top end matches (like today) with Fred and McT as our midfield.
And don't even get me started with Maguire - one of our worst players is our captain. Only at MUFC.

I'm also predicting a humiliation against LFC. Spurs was the GOAT being the GOAT. We recently drew against Watford and I would suggest that our current level is the bottom half of the league table.

If this club wants to compete at the highest level, we need to rip out the foundations that Ole laid and start from scratch. This could mean that over half the team needs to be replaced.

To be honest, I wasn't really feeling this before the game. I didn't get that nervous, tingly feeling before the match, and I didn't feel anything when they scored or when the final whistle blew. Deep down, I think I already knew that we were more than a little out of our depth, considering the season we've had.

Aside from the odd player here and there, and the odd performance, this team isn't really inspirational. They're largely quite difficult to like and root for. We've lost our way, and everyone knows it, and everyone knows that we're just waiting around to see what happens next with a/the new manager. This game was like waiting for a bus that was inevitably going to be late anyway. We're just killing time and I've accepted that for quite a while now.
