You may not want to read this then…

Might as well get nuts…
I mean, if they are just going to go full root-and-branch rebuild it doesn't seem like a bad time to do it, with the rest of the division as strong as it is currently.

Liberty was founded by Jerry Falwell - a right wing televangist nutter. That should tell you all you need to know about the University.

It has grown substantially over the years, so one can't fault Willis for going there for football reasons.
When I see/hear Liberty University I often recall this vid.

These transactions have been incredible, the NFL is awesome. The Miami Dolphins are looking great, trading for one of the best players in the entire league.

:(

Frustrating thing is, it sort of makes sense. Metcalf is due an extension and will likely be asking for huge money and even though Lockett is on a pretty good deal, it doesn't make sense to pay two WRs a total of 40m+ when you have Drew Lock as your QB. Guessing if we extend Metcalf, we trade Lockett and if we can't agree terms with Metcalf then we trade him. Still gonna be sad to lose either.

What do you reckon you'd get for them given the recent deals for Adams/Hill?

I feel like Metcalf would get a similar haul, he's not been as productive as those two but he's much younger and already has 29 touchdowns at 24. Lockett would be much less, maybe a late first rounder if we're really lucky and can start a bidding war but more realistically a 2nd or 3rd rounder as the starting point given his age.

That Tyreek Hill trade looks like good business for the Chiefs. That's a whole lot of picks and some decent cap space cleared for a 28 year old WR relying so much on his speed. Sure, it might hurt them for the upcoming season, since he is still one of the best weapons in the league, but in the longer run, they might come out stronger, if they spend their picks wisely. It almost feels a bit like a Belichick trade.

Also, they get a women/child beater off their hands - bonus.

Yeah I think it's a wise move. If they don't make moves like this from time-to-time they'll just kick the can down the road cap space wise like a lot of teams do, and end up having to do a full rebuild at some point whilst Mahomes is their QB which will be an absolute waste of the prime years of an elite QB.

Will be interesting to see how they spend their draft picks. Let's not forget they drafted CEH with the pick before Higgins, Pittman and Swift, and over Jonathan Taylor as well. Mecole Hardman was a second round pick as well.

If they fall in love with the wrong receiver this season, their WR core could potentially be something like JuJu, Hardman, MVS and Josh Gordon going into the season.

KC might have to trade up to lock down the WR they want. I think there will be a run on them, and the Jets already tipped their hand trying to trade for Tyreek...Mel Kiper mocking a WR to them at 4 doesn’t sound as crazy anymore.

Not that I think that’s likely, but at #10 at a minimum one of the top WRs will be off the board.

Let him play this year when he’s rusty anyway and making limited money, then suspend him for the whole of 2023.

Rosenhaus would know big deals are in the pipe, I guess. Not sure who that’d be off the top of my head other than a Seattle WR.
edit: unless you count Jimmy G in that category…I don’t think Baker qualifies.

I know he played second fiddle to Davante in Green Bay, but isn’t that quite a lot for a receiver who has yet to top 700 yards in a season?
Very mixed reaction from KC fans. Some say he is totally shit and can't catch a ball whilst others are impressed with last season's average of just below 20 yards per catch. He also didn't have one drop last year so perhaps he's on the way up? I'm still reeling from the Hill departure but it looks like the strategy is to get 4 or 5 average WRs rather than one star WR and a load of duds which we had last year. Hopefully we can trade up with our 2 first round picks to get one of the hot WRs in the draft.

He also blocks very, very well for a receiver.
Sure but a good blocking TE probably costs half of what he's earning... If his role is just to stretch the field or be a decoy, why not draft a speedy receiver every year on a minimum deal.

It's nothing egregious, mind you (compared to the deals Michael Gallup and Christian Kirk got, for example).

Good blocking TE’s can’t stretch the field and block the way Valdes-Scantling can.

Just been listening to the That’s Good Broncos podcast and they were talking about Hill being traded from KC, and raised the issue of KCs cap situation.

Looking ahead to 2023 and obviously things can be restructured with some players but they’re gonna start paying the price for no longer having Mahomes on a rookie deal:

Mahomes - $46.8m
Chris Jones - $27m
Frank Clark - $28.7m

Perhaps why they couldn’t go as high as Hill wanted.

That's why I said get that TE and draft a speedster, that would still be cheaper. It's not a bad move though by any means, even if MVS isn't WR1 material.

The difference is that he gives you these things as a single player. Which gives your team quite a few intriguing matchups to exploit. Few players can defend both his blocks and his speed. That’s where his value comes from.

Nah. There’s no reason to take up 2 roster spots when you can get 1 guy that does 2 jobs. Besides that, a stretch WR that also blocks great in the run game is a devil for a defense to contend with because you get no hints as to the possible play call based on personnel package or formation.

Exactly this.
