Doesn't it concern people that Poch, by all accounts, is the manager these players would prefer to player under though ?
That's probably a case of Shaw has played under him, Shaw spoke to others, Spurs 3 good years under Pochettino is fresh in the mind of some of these players and that's that. Its not like loads of them follow the Eredivisie, and Van de Beek definitely doesn't hold as much away in the squad/media to back Ten Hag. And besides, the majority likely don't have a real opinion and it was a vocal few.

Really happy if this is true but important not to get carried away with the hype. He will be taking over an absolute quagmire of a squad so he will need more patience than any manager since Fergie imo.

Definitely, a lot will depend on summer.

I hope he gets three years to build a team.
The fans have a responsibility to be patient with him. It's perhaps understandable that we turned on the last few managers because there was no visible evidence of any long-term plan, but this time we have a coach who is coming here to start a project and we'll need to be patient, especially with some of the shite he's inheriting.

This seals it for me.
Let’s give him time. Will probably have a few 80% possession, no chances or few chances matches in the early stages. Really grates me that Scholes will be on his back, looking all sour face within weeks.

  • 14/15 - 1.58 goals per game, 1.38 xG per game
  • 15/16 - 1.82 goals per game, 1.67 xGpg
  • 16/17 - 2.26 gpg, 1.84 xGpg
  • 17/ 18 - 1.95 gpg, 1.81 xGpg
  • 18/19 - 1.76 gpg, 1.64 xGpg
Average - 1.87 gpg, 1.67 xGpg.
That's pretty much the same average xG level that United was at for the past 5 years. Only difference is they had a peak Kane throughout it. They significantly overperformed their xG in 16/17, their only year in which they surpassed 2 goals per game. Pochettino isn't really an attacking manager.
They also had Son and Delle Alli punching above his weight. Poch is the only manager who got a tune out of Alli. He made that team perform greater than the sum of its parts. Credit where it's due, he challenged and outperformed better attacks on paper

If true I’m glad it’s getting done now giving the club time to plan for transfers/out goings.
It might even give the team a kick up the arse knowing he’ll be watching our games

Not sure if he outperformed better attacks, they just had better players. Kane, Son, Eriksen mainly as a 3 but Alli as you say was good for a while there. In fact I'd say Pochettino's biggest plus is how he got Alli to actually look like a top player for a while, as everywhere else he's looked incredibly average, while the other 3 look just as good wherever else they play too.

Won't get excited until official confirmation and even after some less dumb transfers but still good we've not made another dumb choice.

Jason Burt is tier 1 so it's a done deal. Someone should check on Amadeus he could use an arm round the shoulder.

If this happens, hats off to the club for making the first step in trying a new direction. Obviously we need to back him fully to shape the squad but feels like absolutely the right appointment.

Is it possible to have hope here; BOTH manager and transfer targets sorted before the end of the season? So ready to pull the trigger as soon as the window opens?

Great news if true. He'll need time though.
Massive for the club to back him, ride the storms and do this rebuild properly. Not just winging it but the right personnel in the right positions, that's why I feel retaining Rangnick as a DoF type role is crucial in ten Hags appointment.

So I guess the club weren't making a big smokescreen to bring in Poch
