I’m not too happy about Neves but I think he’s cheap and would provide the playmaking we’d want. I can’t find many realistic alternatives that slot right in.

I don’t think Abraham would come but he’s a good option. I just think his price would be huge and I can’t see him wanting to move from Serie A right now.

Tonsil has developed really well this season but as Adnan said he won’t leave Milan. I don’t see him ever in the PL if I’m honest so he’s a non option.
Response to the bold part: Tielmens?

He might not want to come here though without Champions League possibilities.

If he's an option I would prefer Tielmens over Nevez. I would also like to take a flyer on that lad from Lyon, Max Caqueret.

For the right wing I have no idea really. Raphina looks likely to go somewhere else. Antony I am judging strictly by youtube clips and how the lad at Chelsea is getting on this year to make the bold claim that Antony would be a complete flop.

Maybe Danjuma from Villareal to play as a RW / striker? Maybe Dembele from Barca? Surely Bayern have a few quality players that aren't getting sufficient playing time?

And for striker I would be thrilled with Richarlison from Everton.

I’ve spoken about Tielemans in his thread but yeah he’s another option and for possibly a lower fee.

In terms of the women's team.

Due to Mannion's long term injury, I would say that we should look to bring in another CB, as we will not know for sure sadly when she will be back in action.

Then I would say, we could do with another couple of wide players, as it seems that Fuso isn't quite cutting it, so one for each side, to push Galton on the left, and Hanson on the right.

If we are not for whatever reason(s), going to promote Solskjaer or Edwards, then with Bruun going back, I would suggest that we go for another striker.

So just the four signings, but that is only the case, if the soon to be out of contract players (Turner, Ona, Jackie, Stainforth and Russo) sign on for longer, if they don't, and some or all of them leave, then wow, we will nedd to replace all that do leave.

But irrespective of that, I would sign Le Tiss from Brighton, she is a hugely talented player, and she would add more depth to the full back area.

Two midfielders, a striker and a right back, certainly. But then we needed at least two of these last summer and neglected to do so, to our cost.

I’d also show De Gea the door, give Henderson a proper go, and work on finding a better alternative elsewhere in the market.

Defensive mid and right back would be my first priority. I'd worry about them above all others by a fair margin. I could live with most other positions staying much the same till january but would consider it a massive feck up if they aren't addressed.
I'd try sell any and all of our other full backs to pay for a left back next, i doubt we'll sell all four but whatever is left can offer some cover in the mean time, maybe promote laird. Try and sell De Gea and Henderson to pay for a new keeper, neither is going to get more valuable and it has to be looked at some point soon, i'd at least try and be proactive about it, i guess i wouldn't be too focused on it though.
Center back wouldn't be too focused on. Ideally move Bailly, Jones and Tuanzebe on and look at a cheaper prospect who could cover for Varane and Lindelof. Maguire, well, he'll get another chance next year, its just kind of inevitable. When does a run of bad form stop being bad form?
I'd be happy enough with Fred next season. I'd give VDB one more chance under Ten Hag as cover for Fred and Bruno. Or sell him and look elsewhere, im not really attached and dont expect much. McTominay will have his uses and Garner or Mejbri can be a plan B if were really stuck. Bruno has a new contract and you'd expect will start every week. I'd just throw my midfield budget on the best dm i could get and look at it again in january i think.
Striker, depends on Ronaldo really. If he stays i'd be looking more for a cheaper, maybe risky, plan B type player. We need 2 strikers really and putting the really expensive, world class signing off till next season would be my preference. If he goes we're desperate for goals and just need to buy the best we can get. Lewandowski will use us to get a better contract with Bayern, Kane wont leave tottenham for us. Both are pipe dreams and we'd be stupid to spend more than a week chasing them so we'll need to look beyond the painfully obvious to any idiot signings. A young Mandzukic would be pretty sweet though no idea if he exists.
I dont know about wingers. Rashford is another player who'll get another chance, deserved or not. Sancho can play either wing. Kind of depends on how you rate Elanga and Amad and its hard to rate players at that age from the outside. Or to know what to expect from Rashford. Its probably in a similar boat to center back, center mid and keeper where if the perfect player is available you go for it but might leave it till january otherwise. Raphinha looks pretty perfect though.
Long term i think the only safeish bets going forward are Varane, Lindelof, Fred, Bruno and Sancho.

2x midfielders
1x RW
1x RB

2 midfielders and a RW are an absolute must though this summer.

Then the following summer we'll need a ST, CB and whatever hole opens up next (GK, LB etc)

Im still not sold on this buy 30-50 mill players that will all turn out world class story. Its a beautiful fantasy but for every failed Maguire, Sanchez, Di Maria we have loads of failed cheaper players VDB, Depay, Rojo, Bailly, Telles, Dallot, Amad, James and on and on. Neither tactic has worked. Yes Man City and Liverpool seem to get good players on the cheap but they too have spent big - Allison, Van Dijk, Grealish etc. The odds of us uncovering the next bargain Salah, Kante never mind a team full of them is not very high. Maybe Rangnick will finally bring a golden touch to our recruitment and he knows exactly who these next world class players are. Who knows. But is a Timber, Schick and Phillips really better than getting the likes of Rice, Kane, Haaland, Dembele, Rudigar etc. Im not saying we can afford them or even that we could attract these players but shouldn't they at least be targets? We are Manchester United after all.

Sancho Haaland Dembele
Bruno
Tchouaméni Rice
Shaw Rudigar Varane Dalot
GK

Yeah you'll say Im mad. And thats not going to happen. Yes agreed. But why are they not first choice. Why arnt we at least trying. Why are we just totally dismissing these players as options. Maybe we could get one or two of them. Maybe we end up with an expensive plan B

Rashford Kane Sancho
Bruno
Fred Rice
Shaw Maguire Varane Dalot
GK

Is this really worse than

Sancho Schick Antony
Bruno
Fred Phillips
Shaw Timber Varane Dalot
GK

I cant decide.

Does anyone think we'll be better in the transfer market under Murtogh and Ragnick rather than Woodward?

I think we l now have alot more success with real football knowledge powering the decisions with an emphasis on players bought to fit the managers system.

Not a commercial guy who thinks he's creating the next galacticos sat at home on football manager.......

Laimer would be a good buy for ten hags system.

Timber would be a good buy for ten hags system. (rb)

Antony would be a good buy for ten hags system

That'd be your right hand side sorted and a mobile tenacious ball playing midfielder.

I'd there's funds add Nkunku for the false 9 and we're good to go.

If you can get Kamara on a free and a Cb happy days.

It's been a stinking season - probably the worst since Fergie retired. But I'm strangely optimistic about next season.

We're on the verge of hiring a new manager, who appears to be one of the most highly rated coaches in Europe. A guy that's obsessive in his attention to detail, and someone's that's still on the up.

There's a few divisive players that will be leaving in the summer that should make the atmosphere around the club a bit more bearable, and if we can nail the two midfield positions and a striker (big ask considering our recent history) we'll look a completely different team under ETH.

Still think it's a goalkeeper, 2 full backs, one centre back, at least 2 midfielders, one centre forward and of course that ever elusive right winger.

You could easily have cover on the bench in the form of Garner, Hannibal, Mengi and Laird for full back, centre back and centre mid. No reason why Pellestri and Amad couldn't be used as back up/rotation either.

Hopefully most if the dead wood/ lazy a holes get the boot.

Realistically, from those six players you mention how many do you think will actually make it at either Man Utd or a club of similar ambitions? All of them seem very talented certainly (to varying degrees) but just looking at the sheer numbers, how often over the last 10 years have youth team players properly made it? I can only think Rashford, Elanga and McTominay, and arguably there are question marks over whether any of those three are good enough for a title challenging side, although they were all waxed lyrical about as youngsters knocking on the door. Not saying I’ve made up my mind on those three but you must admit it’s difficult to look at any of them as genuine uncovered gems. Same with the youth team six players in your post; of course maybe this is a Class of 92 moment and you’ll get players for the next decade, but the fact is 1992 was 30 years ago and neither you nor any Prem club have come even close to replicating that. I guess my point is just to highlight how youth team players are consistently rated very highly by fans and yet the stats show that that level of confidence is usually not justified. What would be a ‘good’ outcome in your opinion?

Who knows but at the minute you still have pointless players like Lingard, Bailly, Jones, Mata, Pereira, Martial, Tuanzeve etc all still fcuking about or are on loan doing shit all. They all need to go.

These lads should be given the opportunity to see what the can do. What's the point in spending so much time and money developing talent and loaning them out only to let them go without ever getting a chance?

Let's be honest. They really couldn't do any worse than what's currently on the bench. If they aren't good enough, they aren't good enough, you move them on and get someone else.

Cant believe what we read in the press, but hearing some of the stories I really hope that isnt the case. Talk of five year plans and only players with contract being allowed to leave.

Ragnick had the right idea saying if not happy a player can leave and we have a squad of 36 3/4 of which are fairly established players not all youngsters as some seem to think.

Feel its important over the next two years to get the 28 estalished players down to a really solid 17 or so (thats after several new signings) and that our other squad palcesshould be given to youth players comign through or under 21 of which theere are already a few and other breaking through, as squad of 25 or so.

Ten Hag I feel is in for a shock if he thinks he can make 3/4 signings and his coaching and tactical awareness can turn this side around as a lot of the players simply arent intelligent enough in my opionion and loads of positions need lookign at.

GK: I have been happy with DeGea but lots of fans seem to be tiring of the lack of a modern keeper or controllign the area type. Personally think Henderson should go and a new keeper like Vandervordt that can challenge DeGea should be looked at

RB: Hard truth we are so weak when we actually have lots of players there Bissaka, Dalot, Williams, Laird. I thought Bissaka would be a great signing, I simply dont rate Dalot whatsoever and WIlliams doesnt seem good enough. Would like to see Laird on preseason tour, but lack of game time at Bournemouth is a concern. I do feel Gusto of Lyon and Livaramento are two very young players with massive potential both defensively and going forward that we should be looking at.

CB: The simple fact is NONE of our centre backs has convinced. Varane has had injuriy problems and still doesnt look settled and made plenty of errors himself already. But I like his personality and he obviously has the ability. Maguire is an average defender we massively overspent on, Bailly looked a good signing for a season.....the rest are just squad players. We really need a partnership and an injection of quality there. I love Fofana but too expensive, I like ROmagnoli as a squad option....but beyong that I cant really name anyone as not really seen the likes of Schottenback, Jurrien Timber, Gvardiol that others are raving about to comment.

LB: Although Shaw is frustrating and Telles cant really defend, I think its too far down the pecking order to look at left back even with Shaws contract situation. We also have the yougn SPanish full back in the youth side. Would have loved us to go for Mendes, but the interest there was when Shaw had a good season last year

DM: For me this is our weakest area, only Matic can play the role and his legs are shot. Fred/Pogba/McTominay, none of them can consistently play the pivot and track runners, position themself etc, we simply MUST sign one. The problem is, all the best ones for us are just way too expensive I feel. Persoanlly I reall yhope Calvin Phillips isnt a real link, good player, great personality....but he isnt that good off the ball and gets turned easily fo rme. Personally its Kamara as a no brainer, hope there is truth in links with us. He is free, he is young, he is intelligent, good on and off the ball. Camavinga was perfect, his replacement at Rennes Ugogchukwu look spromising too but is just too yougn and inexperienced I feel.

CM: Well we have Fred who looks much better further forward, but is he the answer? McTominay and Hannibal to come through, so there are options. But we are almsot cerrrtainly losing Pogba and Longard, VDB for me should go too, so I still think we need two central midfielders and Caqueret is the one for me. Relatively cheap, reminds me of a young Lampard/Scholes type, right age and profile and works hard too. I feel he is a better all round option than the likes of Neves and Tielmans, neither of which I am that confident in tbh even though good players.

Wingers: Again we look short but lets not forget as things stand we have Rashford, Martial, Elanga, Sancho, Greenwood, Pellestri, Amad as well as Garnacho looking not too far away. MArtial has to go, Rashford I hope asks to leave and who knows still what happens with Greenwood (personaly regardless if he stays Id rather he was upfront). or me it all hinges on Rashford. Aain (yes Im watching French football a fair bit haha) Sulemana and DOku are two very talented players, both a bit rough around the edges but for me ELanga good as he has been is merely a squad player and still not convinced fully by any of the others, Sancho has all the abililty and can be a huge players for us, but the few good games he has had have been overhyped, I dont see superstar wingers ourside of him with any of the current options and its something we have always had until very recently.

CF: Well dont liek mentioning him again but Greenwood can be a brilliant striker, I personally mention him too often, but Giouri is a must sign we simply arent linked with sadly, outside of the huge names like Haaland and Mbappe simply think he is the best attackign player anybody can sign this summer

For me we simply HAVE to sign a centre back and defensive midfielder this summer, failure to get both and good ones, we dont actually progress, we are so weak there individually and in terms of framework for a team, we simply dont progress at all next season with out doign so. The same goes for a striker if Greenwood is finsihed here.

Outside of that I am not sure there will be enough players moved out to actually do a huge lot more or be chosen to in the first window, wrongly of course....unless its a literal five year plan. I still feel we need a cb, rb, 2 x cm, rw and cf this summer to not fall further behind the top two who will improve too and certainly to make a gap between us and the other challengers as we are where we should be in the league one of the other 3/4 teams to fight for 4th we are behingd the top three for sure and a manager and little activity simply fdoesnt chane that no matter how good they may or may no tbe

Yeah would love to see us fully back ETH with a Chelsea style spree and sign all six of those, however don't see the club allowing it in a million years.

If ETH wants a ton of new new player, keeping Henderson because he can pass and is young and selling De Gea seems like a way to turn a position into a 30M or so plus massive wages surplus, if there's a big club who wants him.

https://www.manchestereveningnews.c...r-news/man-united-transfer-news-ajax-22384653

Ajax wanted him on loan, so my guess is this is what happens. De Gea to uh, Newcastle or Serie A and we pay half his wages but get a fee?

Apparently Newcastle are interested in Robert Sanchez. Considering what they've already done in terms of recruitment, I'd be surprised, if they'd be interested in de Gea.

We need a whole group of young and hungry players who will run through brick walls. We can no longer paper over cracks with marquee signings. There is a massive hole in the wall.

Just as a cathartic process for me:

De Gea - Keep. I’m not a big fan of his but we have bigger issues elsewhere right now
Heaton - I’ve no problem with him as backup, but sell if we can get a decent fee

AWB - Backup. Sell if we can get a decent fee
Dalot - Sell. I don’t rate him at all
Varane - Keep
Maguire - Give him another season to see if his form improves. Should really have the captaincy taken off him
Lindelof - Keep
Jones - Sell/Release
Bailly - Sell/Release
Shaw - Doesn’t deserve an new contract. Sell if possible
Telles - I don’t rate him but keep as backup if we can sell Shaw

Pogba - Release
McTominay - Keep as a squad player
Fred - Keep as a squad player
VDB - Keep as a squad player/sell if we get a good offer
Matic - Keep as back up DM
Fernandes - Keep
Lingard - Release

Ronaldo - Sell/Release if possible
Cavani - Release
Rashford - Another season to see if his form can improve
Sancho - Keep
Elanga - Keep as backup
Martial - Sell
Mata - Release

I’ll not bother mentioning nothing players like Grant, Chong, Pereira etc.

There’s a good 10 or so players I’d be in favour of not being here come September. I’d look at signing ST, RW, DM, CB, RB. That should give us enough cover considering we won’t be in the CL and we have about 5 players who currently contribute nothing. Any other gaps can be plugged with our best youngsters.

We need to bring in 5 players this summer to start the rebuild.
CB
DM
Box to Box Midfielder
Goalscoring Attacker ( who can play across the front 3)
CF

This would be the start of our rebuild, and we should continue on each window until we get it right.

Timber, Laimer, Neves, Antony, Nunez would be great.

Considering how crap our midfield is now and an average number 10 we will have to carry into the new season. We need better than Laimer and Neves. But good shout.

A striker, a right winger and a couple of midfielders for me. Possibly a versatile defender too if we can.

It's a lot to ask, especially from this club, but there's going to be a large turnover this summer. We can't afford to scrimp on signings as we have in previous seasons or we'll find ourselves in a similar predicament to where we are now.

Considering how crap our midfield is now and an average number 10 we will have to carry into the new season. We need better than Laimer and Neves. But good shout.
I'm looking at who we can afford and Quantity atm. Yes, I would love Tchouameni and Rice but then we have no budget for anyone else. Boubacar Kamara on a free would be a good shout also.

I said this at the start of the season and I'll say it again, we need new fullbacks. We tend to focus on flashier positions but football has evolved past being able to carry fullbacks who are average/poor in possession. None of our current lot are anywhere near good enough.

Lost count of the amount of teams who are happy to give our fullbacks all the space and time in the world because they know they can't hurt them. The likes of Fred and McTominay would look a hell of a lot better if they had quality, creative fullbacks alongside them.

Everything. We need everything.

This is not a realistic scenario but lets say that we can swap Ajax squad with United. 20 players traded with 20 players including the first teamers and they will pay those new players the same wages as they have done so far in total. And then we will pay more for ajax players that joined but the same in total as current wages. Would ajax take it? most likely not. Would United take it? not but thats because theyre a fecking idiot. Bottom line is we are fecked. The squad looks good on paper but not any more impressive than Leicester in reality.

I think we need at least one player (two in some) in these positions: GK, RB, DM, CM, RW, ST

Pogba is gone, but him, DDG and Ronaldo should be done anyways with ten Hag arriving, we can't have a limited goalkeeper in that system and the other 2 are a luxury to have in the team, can't have them doing nothing if we want a functional systeam where every player puts the work in.

Sadly there's currently no viable option on the market in my opinion whether we want a RB or a GK. Mazraoui is Bayern / Barca bound and the next most suitable option is probably Max Aarons...Dalot & AWB are both dogshit but we'll have to do with them until a good replacement appears on the market. Henderson is good enough for now but likely won't develop into a goalkeeper that starts for PL / CL winning teams. It's a pipe dream but Oblak's contract expires in 2023, Atletico offers him absolutely nothing from a sporting perspective, we should be all over him. Onana is already going to Inter if I'm not mistaken, not sure who we could get.

I think we need a 4th CB but I feel like it's probably the least of our worries, Maguire will come good in a functional system, Varane is the perfect partner for him and Lindelöf is very good too. However there's noone else that's even remotely close to being a reliable fourth choice at the club. Getting someone like Akanji would be great, while finally shipping Bailly / Jones / Tuanzebe out

I have no idea and basically no suggestions as to who we should target for the other positions other than some often mentioned names: Rice, Raphinha, etc. would probably do well here. Actually, Rice and McTominay behind Bruno would be a much better midfield than most people would expect from them. If not Rice, I really hope we find someone else for the DM position because we can't have Fred starting there for another season if we're serious about things. He has good games but he's way too unreliable and DM is not a position where you can afford unreliable, makeshift options.

As for getting a new striker, with Ole gone and us being dogshit means that Haaland is definitely off the table, I hope our plan is not Kane or no one cuz that's dumb thinking. Isak seems like a promising player but there are some other options on the market. There are strikers available, a lot of them young as well, so it's not like GK or RB. Hope we won't be idiots.

Though I worry about his pace I’m really coming round to integrating the young Spanish lad from the reserves. He’s classy on the ball

If we did your scenario, we’d finish mid table for sure. Many of those Ajax players wouldn’t last in the PL. one or 2 of them are going to be stars

Fred has been our best midfielder this season, especially when he’s not restricted as a DM. He’s grown on me and I think he could work very well in a well thought out 3 that compliment each other

Sign Timber, Antony, Kamara, Laimer, Richarlison, Nunez

Nunez I’m not 100% sure about but we need a goal scorer and we can’t afford Kane or Haaland without blowing budget

this is going to be a 5 year project so don’t expect all to be done in one window

DDG
Timber Maguire Varane Hernandez
Kamara
Laimer Fred
Antony Nunez Richarlison

a solid, hard working midfield who have the stamina to be snapping around for 90 mins.
I’ve chucked young Hernandez in at LB as he’s very good going forward and a classy player on the ball. Defensively he will be helped by the hard workIng Richarlison who also has the explosive pace to make us forget Rashfords Main strength

antony on the other side supplying Nunez

i know this won’t happen because Bruno and Sancho but for me it’s a better balance and just leaves us to sort out CB and GK next window

bench
Heaton, AWB, Lindelof, shaw, Axel, Bruno, Hannibal, DVB, McTominay, Sancho, Garoucho (or however it’s spelled), Matic

loan
Garner for a years PL experience
Laird
Williams
Pellestri
Diallo

selling/releasing
Telles, Jones, Bailly, mata, Ronaldo, Rashford, Henderson, Lingard, Pogba, martial, Dalot, Cavani

some of these players want to leave and others are constantly being hinted at in the media so get rid if they don’t want to be here

In following windows sell anyone who’s not up for fighting for their place and whining too much about being benched

nobody with guarantees, your form is what keeps you in the team nothing else

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Johnstone, Timber, Rice, Nkunku, Antony and Nunez. Just the 300m…

I’d sell/release the following:
Henderson
Dalot
Telles
Axel
Jones
Bailly
Matic
Pogba
Donny
Martial
Ronaldo
Lingard
Cavani
Mata
Greenwood
Chong
Bernard

Hopefully 150m+ in fees and 2m a week off the wage bill. If Rashford wants out too then he can also go. If he wants to stay, work hard and get back to what he was then brilliant.

Integrate Williams, Garner, Hannibal, Laird and Fernandez.

How do you explain their Champions League exploits then? at least they did better than us in CL. Way better. They often faced a big team in CL and did well. Those teams are better than PL teams aside from the top 3.

They simply know how to play in a competition like that, there’s a huge difference in playing 38 PL matches though

They were knocked out of the CL at the same stage as us. By a team worse than the side that knocked us out. They were also knocked out of the CL at the same stage as us last year then lost to Roma in the EL - a team we then destroyed.

I think United this Summer two center midfielders and a right back are an absolute must. Maybe we can add AWB and Scott and Fred in part exchange.
We need to be clever then and get s couple of players on loan like Spurs did to cement top four. A right winger and striker if possible maybe with an option to buy.

I assume that Fernandes will be part of that 3 as the most forward and attacking minded midfielder, that leaves 2 spots open. I'm choosing McTominay over Fred every day of the week, he's been much more important for us in these last 2-3 seasons.
