I won’t judge Ralf on his interim role. It’s too harsh to pass judgment on someone who’s joined mid season, has had to cobble together a coaching team to help him and deal with this bloated, mishapen squad. A penny for his thoughts when he looked at its composition.
He’s mainly here to be in the board room, and its hard to know how much influence he does have. If Murtough has been an admirer of his for years, then Ralf will tell that’s he preaching to the choir if Murtough is pitching long term strategies to him if they’re based and inspired on what Ralf has done previously. Ralf is in his mid-60s and has been coaching for close to 40 years now. Would he want a gig like this at this point anyway? Maybe he’s more interested in getting younger guys in the positions he used to be in.
Ralf could just say hire Paul Mitchell who he’s worked with in the Red Bull system, to be the more hands on figure, whilst Ralf is more a background figure.
