If Guardiola won the champions league it would be easier for us to get him back in summer 2023 once he had won it all and Barca has better finances. Think about it, suffer now but get rid of the Pep sooner.
This is not good news. Pep can't leave before Klopp does otherwise Liverpool win the league at a canter

I've recently realised that I don't actually care if Liverpool win another CL. They have so many already. I hope Real Madrid win it all now, but in the event of a City v Liverpool final, I would probably prefer to keep City at 0 European cups.

 Well we're suffering more due to our bad phase. Pep "quickly" winning a CL soon rather than ... not winning it, seems a worse option. Except when you consider the alternative is Liverpool.

Also don't you like Xavi?

Yeah I'm feeling this way. Don't see us catching Liverpool in CLs whereas them reaching 20 league titles and City getting more legitimacy by winning the CL seems worse.

All this is like asking which of my feet I would prefer to have amputated. Then after agonising and picking my left foot, waking up after the operation to find they both got cut off anyway due to a mix up.

Xavi has been great so far. He is also a club legend. I like him a lot, if he can keep up then I hope he is our coach for the next 20 years and Guardiola only comes back to be our president.
Having said that, there is nobody I trust more as a coach than Pep Guardiola at least for our style. Also, we have Laporta back as president who is Pep's close friend and who was the one who gave him the opportunity to manage one of the best teams in the world despite having no prior experience.
It was so unfortunate when the club associates voted Sandro Rossell in 2010. If we had kept Laporta as president, Pep would have been our coach all these years and we wouldn't have suffered all the humillations we have.

Liverpool are at least a proper club. I remember a similar discussion on RAWK regarding the 2008 CL final. A few Kopties ratcheted United because they couldn’t stand the plastic Chelsea oil money winning it. I would feel that a little in a Liverpool - City final.

I would rather Pool win the CL and City win the league. I don't want to see City as European champs as it would feel wrong and I don't want to see Pool match our title record. What an absolute fecking nightmare of a situation to have to sit back and watch our two most bitter rivals dominate.

It is ignorance, nothing less. They knocked out three European heavyweights when all three were much more heavily fancied.

Bayern are a top side, Juve are a top side. United are still strong on paper, we are just very dysfunctional sadly.

Yes, Liverpool should go through based on quality, but football is a funny old game, eh?
Juve has been knocked out by Ajax, Lyon and Porto in a row before Villareal.
Not exactly the most prized scalp in Europe these days.

Utd aren't either, and Bayern, while better, had been showing some tremors already this season.

Villareal is doing great in Europe and deserved respect even before this last tie, but the odds are still obviously against them in a final four with City, Real and Liverpool.

Liverpool and City are clearly the best sides still left in the competition, but I’d never put money on a team in a champions league tie against Real Madrid. Those old men they have on the field keep on pulling surprises on people.

Yeah Liverpool for the CL, City for the title would be my preference. Subject to change of course but that's how I feel currently.

Genuinely don’t know how Liverpool continue to get these favourable draws, I know they’re playing well but good god they couldn’t have asked for an easier path to the final, likewise when they won it in 2019.

Considering Liverpools most recent defeats in Europe have been against Veteran/Old men sides. I wouldn't say its a foregone conclusion like some already have.

I expect Liverpool to go through but I'm not writing off Villarreal.

Best scenario would be obviously Madrid to win it again. But they looked so poor against Chelsea, got outplayed and should of lost and gone out. Don’t want a city- Liverpool final so please ath Madrid get lucky tonight and do what you normally do to grind out results.

what? In 2019 we went against Bayern, Porto and Barcelona. Not the hardest one because it had Porto in it but far from easy, especially after you’re 3-0 down in the first semifinal tie.
Our knockout games may seem easier this season but we surely had the hardest group too.

We played Napoli and PSG in the 2018/19 group stage. Then we played Bayern and Barcelona on the way to the final.

We've been more fortunate in the knockout rounds for this season but our group was a trickier one.

City obviously have a very tough away game tonight, but I think with them having Kevin DeBruyne injury free and in form I fancy them to win the lot.

I'm going to blank all thoughts of this from my head with images of Ten Hag lifting his 8th European Cup as United manager in 8 seasons time.... no point replying as my eyes are closed and the drugs are kicking in already.....

First things first - we need to keep the treble/quadruple off the table. So pray for Chelsea in the FA Cup on May 14 as that would solve both problems.

If Chelsea fail us, then whoever wins it out of Liverpool or City must then lose either the League or Champions league.

If neither the quadruple or the treble is on, then of course we prefer a city title win and a Liverpool CL win if we had to choose.

My personal prediction is that Liverpool are going to do the quadruple. I've seen this kind of momentum before, and they don't even have to play particularly well - they have endless goals in them and unless the opposition takes every single opportunity then they're winning pretty much every game now.

Also it's my own personal nightmare and it feels like the world has gone dark. War, ecological apocalypse, pandemic, economic collapse... May as well throw a scouse quadruple in there ffs.

I swear to God the scouse themselves didn't feel this bad when we got number 19.

Not a chance of Guardiola coming back at Barcelona as a head coach. This is not my opinion, this is Guardiola's claim he repeated many times already - he will never coach Barcelona again! His next step after City is either a stint in Italy or an international team (wich won't be Spain btw)

Who gives a feck about Shitty?

Let them win the CL.

Just don't let pool win anything. Fine, give them the fa cup.
This is why they shouldn't. Them winning it cheapens an already cheapened historic competition. Makes it completely pointless

I strongly suspect the Final will be Liverpool X Madrid.

Benzema and Vini Jr are on fire right now...

Yeah saw rumors of it , but it doesn't make much sense . I wonder how much truth there is to it.

Wow. To think... Barca would have cleaned up. How many trebles would they have by now, how many doubles, how much distance would there have been between Madrid and Barcelona, how much distance between Messi and Ronaldo...

He would've established himself as the GOAT of coaching, with those Barca players. We'd be talking about an entirely different 2012-2022.

Real are no gimme, I expect we'll dominate the game between both boxes but Real are a bit like Liverpool now in that they can score out of nothing with Benzema, Modric and Vinicius.
Liverpool will go through but City/Real is 55/45 at most in Cities favor.
