Can we get anything out of the Liverpool game?

You’d think these players would do everything they can to stop Liverpool winning the league and matching us with titles. But that won’t be the case because as we know our players don’t care! We can’t even park the bus as we can’t defend to save our lives. Inter got a win there the other week though so it’s not impossible but we’re just a mess right now. Maguire will get pulled out of position left right and centre. If the full backs bomb forward then mane and Salah will have a field day. This one’s only going one way I think…

Yes we absolutely can if all the players make the extra effort. But I do not think we will do that.

We might if the players actually put a shift in and chase balls. Oh who am I kidding, Rashford will stand there hand on hips after losing the ball on the counter for a 10th time, Pogba will moan at the ref when its clear as daylight he's committed a foul, and Maguire will feck up somewhere.

Maybe they’ll rest players because they’ve got actual important games upcoming

More importantly, we have to get 3 points out of the Arsenal game. Try our best against Liverpool of course, but they are massive favourites for good reason. But we absolutely have to beat Arsenal.

They say that form goes out the window in the derby, but we're in such dire straits that it's hard to see us beating a Liverpool that must win in order to keep their title challenge alive. If they were ten points clear or far enough behind City that they couldn't catch up, I could see us getting lucky. With them in amazing form and needing the win, while we're one of the very worst teams in the league at the moment, I really can't see us getting a result. It would have to be some freak occurrence like Liverpool getting a player sent off early in the game.

We'll be facing a team that went 3-0 up against City in the first half today. We're more likely to lose 6-0 than get anything from the game. It would truly be a miracle if we won.

One thing they had when Fergie was here and they were infinitely worse than us, was passion. I’m not sure how much of that our current squad have to compete. If we play with heart and defend well, and Ronaldo does another….Ronaldo, then we can.

It’s not likely though.

If we put in a monster performance we might only lose by two goals

This is not even a Derby game anymore as we have sunk that low, the scousers see City as a derby game and us as a training session. We will be lucky to get nil unless something bizarre happens such as eleven United players turning up and playing like a proper team.

I did bet big on a Liverpool win.

Thus maybe that is enough to jinx the universe to give us a draw.

It may not be enough to get top 4 or stop Pool winning it all, but it will give me joy for one evening at least.
Either that or I earn some money at least.

I would usually say football tends to surprise you and doesn't always work this way, but there's nothing, absolutely nothing to cling to. We aren't even good enough to park the bus. We're going to get twatted again just like last time.

We let Norwich score against us twice. fecking Norwich.

Yeah but most come from them not us
Only in the most recent times, Liverpool have only been consistently really good for the last 4/5 seasons for the 20 odd before we were generally top dogs.

But going back even further when Liverpool were the dominant force in the 80's we got loads of results against them even with some pretty average sides, against an at the time all conquering Liverpool.

...and without Ronaldo, we probably would've lost against Norwich (the worst team in the league). Imagine what the best team in the league will do to us.

I'd park the bus. But we aren't good enough nor do we have the right mentality.
That makes sense when your defensive players press the shit out of their strikers, and midfielders actually know how to position themselves defensively.
However, our midfield is terrible, especially defensively, and you just need to watch today's first goal to see how much our defence is actually included in the game when they all need to defend together, they are just lost.

I actually think we would do better if we attacked them, even though I am sure in noth cases we would lose.

Might as well just go:

Elanga
Bruno
Dalot - Matic - Bailly
Telles - Maguire - Lindelof - Jones - AWB
DDG
:lol::lol::lol:

Firm instructions to Telles and AWB that they're only allowed 2 forays each into the opposition half the whole game!

Bruno should thank his stars that there are no more central defenders available. Fred would've been the next best thing but he's injured.

None of that playing out the back nonsense - anything we get our boots on in our half, hoof it towards Elanga to chase. When Elanga tires, bring on Rashford, and if he starts looking like he can't be bothered, replace with Garnacho.

The cherry on top: RR to bring on Dyche as a consultant to the consultant and we're golden.

Wait, we can't...
Anyway it's time we showed them that moments when Danny Murphy, Smitzer etc. score and beat us

Scott and Fred are out. We cannot start Pogba. Hopefully Matic will play from start and we set up deep and counter. We got serious problems in midfield and at the back. Maybe a 5-3-2 is the only option

The joke is we can really hurt them with some of our players on a good day. The issue is apart from Ronaldo who doesn’t give a shit about confidence, our players are to a man devoid of all confidence and the Liverpool team are individually and collectively at the peak of their powers.

As a side note, I wonder what price United will be to win? Imagine it will be astronomical.

Liverpool are playing a lot of hard, exhausting games in succession and only get a couple of days to recover, same as us, but they have games across four fronts to concern themselves with and rotation has to be a factor.

If we can 'get in amongst them' and make it a miserable, disjointed game, it could be reduced to half-chances off corners and ugly scrambles in the box... at least I'd like to believe it can be.

If we try to play, I think it'll be even worse than last time, given the form of the respective teams.
That all sounds beautiful but the difference is they are amazing right now and we are dog shit. So whichever team they put out they will win.

The biggest problem we will have is we are most likely to be going into this game with Pogba and Matic as the midfield with Bruno just in front. I can see us getting completely over run and hounded, constantly losing the ball and unable to retain any level of possession.

If Telles isn’t playing that means Dalot at left back against Salah!

3-5-2 with 7 defenders on the pitch, bruno, and 2 speed merchants. Then pull an atletico like performance with tons of playacting and violence, and hopefully we'll just lose by 2 goals.
