Most damning stat of all. Surprised how little impact he has had on our defense.

Funny isn't it?

We got Arsenal on choke hold with our pressing. The player condition is so shit that the pressing is not sustainable full game. Still even with our own mistake, we created enough to have chance to go level on 2-2. Bruno had a mare. A wonder strike killed the game, but hardly any tactical mistakes with the options in hand.
Absolutely. Going forward today we looked great at times. I suppose that’s not down to Rangnick either.

Best thing he can do in service to this Club now is to let the next guy know what a bunch of overpaid, lazy entitled wankers many of this mob are.

One of the advantages of him staying on would be that so these mercenaries aren’t able to pull the wool over the new manager’s eyes

Type of manager RR is this was always on the cards. The hysterical reaction is people getting upset with the doctor for delivering bad news. Maybe Conte would do a much better job of papering over the cracks, seems fair. I'll take calling out the issues as they are and addressing them properly in a structured long term set up all day though.

Don't think most of the players wanted him in the first place. 3 weeks after he became the intertim leaks about how unhappy some players were started to spread if anyone remembers. And now they don't play for him. Why would they when Ralf has literally said they're the problem, you don't need glasses to see it and their future is unclear.

I’ve a;ways felt through most the recent managers we had a good squad. A squad capable of competing. However you watch the, now and I’m now questioning the belief that more than 2 or 3 of these guys are even trying.

You can say it’s up to a manager to motivate players and Ragnick should have done that but there is just something rotten with this lot. Like they were given too much freedom by Ole and now they are just untrainable.

Think it says a lot that Ralf tried to implement his style of football and we saw it in patches for maybe a month and then it all stopped. He’s made some poor decisions like moving on VDB, but that might have been something out of his hands.

However I really like that he is telling it as it is and confirming things most of us have known for seasons now. I really hope he stays on and forms a good relationship with ETH and can focus on sorting out the mess of how the club is run.

Total fraud. As talking seems to be his passion he should invest some energy in talking to the players and refs instead of just enjoying giving endless interviews and media speeches.

You don't judge someone's ability upstairs by their managerial ability, much like you wouldn't judge a baker on their ability to cook burgers.

Let’s be real. You have no idea how good he would be working upstairs. I’ve seen that he struggles to stamp authority at a club our size. Has he ever done any work at clubs similar in stature?

Doesn't seem like he tells the players much of anything as we're a mess of a team, he does the vast majority of his talking in press conferences it seems. Personally think he realized he was in over his head months ago and checked out mentally a long time ago.
Until Bruno missed that penalty the idea was clear: Our first and second line press worked effectively and boxed Arsenal in. We were well on top for most of the first hour. The problem is what happened when Arsenal beat that press. I don't blame Ralf for Telles and Varane air kicking and Dalot not tracking Tavares. I dont blame Ralf for Telles throwing himself at Saka. I don't blame Ralf for Bruno being weak.

Its easy to blame the manager. However, I'm not sure any manager is going to turn this around. I hope I'm wrong. I hope next year we win the title and people are quoting my posts at me saying how much of an idiot I am. It was all the manager and with the right man everything is fixed and we're on the way again. However, the way I see it, there are too many average players in this squad. They have to be. When players make one or two odd mistakes its coincidence, when they're making them all the time then you have to think that's their level.

If we put our defence up for sale, including DeGea and Varane, I'm not sure we'd get many takers for them among the top 6 teams in England, nevermind the best in Europe. That's our level. You can make up for it, at times, with a bit of clever tactics. But its likely to be undone by individual errors that no coach can legislate for. We'll see that next season. I won't be surprised if in 12 months time people are hounding Ten Hag. Again, I hope I'm wrong.

If this was a one off then no one would be blaming him. Reality is we've won 2 games in over 2 months. Both were down to individual brilliance hat-tricks in 3-2 wins.

Didn't he say that the first thing he would be doing is to tighten up the defense..?

Then, he plays Dalot the whole season..

You are really hopeless to keep blaming Ole and defending Ralf as interim manager. Ralf has no clue. He MIGHT be good in many other things, but he is a really bad interim manager.
It's not might. We know he is good at other things. We know he's a capable manager.
This isn't a Ralf issue (the interim matter). This is a poisoned chalice - there is no manager available that could give us a bounce and leave after 6 months. Conte wanted a permanent deal and was the wrong play for beyond this season and the others were risks in other quantities.

I'm not hopelessly blaming Ole. He build this team and fed the egos and didnt coach the squad and this is the outcome. Only someone who doesn't really understand the sport can say otherwise, or someone who has their head in his arse because they're pals (like Neville).

Ole took a big turd on the team and left. Of course he didn't mean to, but that's basically whats happened. He's a Mr Bean of management.

Said this before, ralf has to take some blame. He plays the same lousy players game after game and yet we should just play the academy. It is better to lose and finish 10th playing the academy than to waste time losing with these players who will not be here next season. There are some fans who believe its all the players. It cant be. You can not play badly for 4 games and its the players....and yet the coach refuses to swap the players. Why cant we start playing the kids. Have rashford or lingard changed any game for us this season. We waste our subs by once again bringing them on, its crazy.

He's contractually obliged to give those conferences and interviews just as all managers before him have given them.

Also I'm sure he does talk to the players. In case you haven't sussed it out by now our players are utter pricks who do what they want. But hey who cares right, blame it all on the manager for not waving a magic wand and instantly fixing everyones poor attitudes

RR is definitely not a Premier League level manager but no manager can save this team without complete rebuild. This lot are done beyond repair.

And yet he was offered the Chelsea job before Tuchel.

Anyone can play this game. Point I'm making is an interim remit is not the same as a permanent one with windows to fix the issues.

I don’t rate him, and glad that we are going to have a new manager.

But, our players fail at the basics. The first goal today is an example. This has pre-dated RR and I’m afraid that it will continue after he’s gone.

There's no manager available who could have given a big club like United a bounce as interim manager? So if another club had to fire their manager in December, they wouldn't have found anyone that could have done a good job?

Neither do you, however there's years of evidence of his work at other clubs backing up my point. Getting rid of respected football minds is a sure fire way to keep us in the shit. We're not a club of stature anymore, we're not special. We're a passionless club run on an archaic model that he's been right to call out at every opportunity. Has been rubbish as interim? Yes. Does that mean he'll be rubbish as an advisor? No. Should be even more obvious considering he's calling out everything we as fans have been complaining about for years such as our poor scouting and lack of fitness. If we decided to cancel the offer on the table then we'd rightly slide into absolute obscurity, we're at critical mass, thankfully it seems like Murtough acknowledges the job at hand and is still happy to utilise Rangnick's expertise.
I don't believe that at all to be honest, the players aren't blameless by any means but Ralf's been poor also.
I think we would. They don't care and it shows in their football, too many just aren't good enough. I wanted Conte but it's becoming increasingly apparent he would've just delayed what's currently happening. The club doesn't just need a new manager, it needs a complete rebuild from top to bottom, Rangnick hasn't been great but he's ripped the plaster off.

With this squad where you have 10+ players out the door from the squad, its extremely difficult to motivate. As I said in the post, the other candidates were also risks in other ways.

He was offered a 4 month contract before Tuchel became available and they offered him a full time contract.

I'm not blaming Ralf completely for the mess we've been post Xmas and certainly not for today but anyone trying to absolve him of all responsibility is deluding themselves in my opinion. Unlucky or not we are still a shambles defensively.

Rangnick will not improve anything at the club irrespective of what capacity. He’s finished and should be cut loose at seasons end.
A bit short sighted don't you think? Ralf came Into the club when moral was at rock bottom. The players didn't buy into his philosophy because he actually tried to instill a work ethic more in line with professional players. They downed tools completely. Any manager is in an impossible situation in cases like these.

On the plus side. It's now out in the open just how gutless the squad is mainly down to Ralf expressing what all of us are thinking. That alone was worth bringing him in for. This whole cultural reboot idea has to be shredded and restarted from zero. Ralf has experience in abundance in building teams. In fact hes the only man at the club that does so what makes you think he'd be a failure?

Ralf makes Ole look like a competent manager
Too bad Ole was shit at player recruitment. Ole can only dream of achieving what Ralf has in his career. Ralf is a club builder and better at assessing players than Ole ever will be in his career.

Well a total rebuild isn't practical and won't be happening so best to make our peace with that. Luckily going off the reports of Ten Hag's vision for United he doesn't think the drastic rebuild Rangnick keeps referring to is necessary.

People are blinded by his straight talking in the media. His performances and results are indefensible which is the job he is being paid to do.

We'll also be carrying out nowhere near the scale of the rebuild he suggests.

Yes, so he was offered to be interim for Chelsea. It's not like he's not well respected in the industry.

You pointing to Everton bares no relevance. Everton are the barometer of shit decision making.

If the target was Ten Hag all along, the interim manager should've been someone who values possession football.
