I feel like if Salah or Mane left Liverpool without them getting any transfer fee, they would be pretty widely hated and criticised by both club and fans.

Pogba has been getting criticised, but only for his godawful performances, not for the shittiness of leaving the club without them getting a fee.

Feels like him and Lingard should be getting more of a doing over this to be honest. The clubs paid them tens of millions over the years + trained them since youth/given them opportunities.
Pogba yes, Lingard no IMO.

If Pogba cared enough to look back at his time with the club I actually think the current reaction is far more damning than anything. Normally you'd expect a player of his quality leaving - especially when he cost a then world-record sum and had ties to the club as a youth team player - would leave the fanbase feeling numb, shell-shocked, angry.

The fact the majority of the fans are over the moon at the prospect of him walking out the door with no transfer fee to even show for it should really make him self-reflect in a big way.

I want to see the end of the Pogba era. Three coaches have failed to get that much out of him so unless ETH is adamant he wants to keep him, let's just move on. He can go be brilliant for Madrid, am not convinced we'd ever see a consistently great Pogba in a United shirt unfortunately.

Manchester Utd never lose, just run out of time

The only time a player should get hated on for leaving without a transfer fee is if they screwed over the club and fans by making everybody believe that they would sign one, thereby leaving the club in a very difficult position trying to replace them. Or to a lesser extent, if they refused to leave before that (or priced themselves out of a move) despite the club trying to sell them. I guess also if they left to join a main rival.

If, like in this situation, they made it obvious that they would like to leave but the club itself chose not to sell them, then the player certainly shouldn't get any hate.

What you say is sensible but I get why people would "hate" a player in Pogba's situation. I felt the same about Ronaldo despite the record fee and the reason was that he openly didn't see United as a club that he would never leave, it's at odds with the way I see the club.

Yeah, this makes sense. It's more incompetence from the board than anything else. I guess it's kind of exceptional with Pogba as well because nobody is going to pay £400k p/w for him and pay a huge transfer fee since he has been so, so shite - but they will happily risk it on a free.

It still feels like acting the bollocks though. I wonder could we have sold him at the end of last season, that was probably the time to do it. Easy say in hindsight I s'pose.

Its finally come full circle for this clown.

His agent gets a big(ish) pay day and he gets an astronomical salary to fuel his dipshit lifestyle.

He also gets to prance around nilly willy in paris and make himself look good in youtube highlights, because nobody actually watches the french league.

I think Pogba's battles with the club in the media without the club saying boo to him over the years have paved the way for Rashford PR to do the same
Certainly sets a bad precedent. Just imagine what SAF would have done. We've been so damn spineless since.

I simply don't agree. He had a good game not brilliant one and Ajax were pretty ordinary on the night
Leverkusen were pretty ordinary too when Zidane won the Champions League for Real Madrid in the 00’s.

Pogba tbf to him has had injury issues and this is the main reason with his attitude we shouldn’t sign him. He’s been a hell of a lot better than most of our players in his time here otherwise.

We need fresh new faces the fans actually like and he needs a new challenge. That simple so no hate to the guy.

Bored hearing about him, he's a fraud of a player that's not cut out for the week in / week out demands premier league.

Everyone talks about him as a World Cup winner, but I'd question just how impressive that really is, one tournament where the draw opened up well for them.

Jose was right about him, he should have been out the door then.

Apropos of nothing, I am suddenly getting Alan Partridge vibes from Paul Pogba.

What happens now? Come back begging at a lower wage?
Maybe the lack of news was because Pogba was aware of his agent's grave condition?

'Interesting' might be an insensitive way to describe the situation, but it is peculiar to see what happens with Pogba now. Presumably he'd be looking for a new agent, but wondering if he feels compelled to stay given his even more uncertain situation.

Feel like Mino was more of a hurdle given his stupidly high fees so feel it’s more likely other clubs, who might have been priced out, might now be in the running.

He shouldn’t stay, we don’t want him, he wants out and he should get a bumper contract to see him through to his mid thirties.

Just heard about Mino Raiola, RIP. I was a big critic but sympathies to his family at this time for a life cut too short. He certainly always did an effective job for his players.

Yeah I think the relationship between him and the fans have become untenable to the point that him staying is now almost out of the question. The guy even has our fans booing him, something of a rarity for us.

Agreed that it'll make his suitors more likely to agree a deal with him. I'd expect him to be announced as a Madrid or PSG player in the summer.

Still think he ends up at Madrid.

Mbappe, Rudiger & Pogba on frees.

At a guess, he'll sign up with a big, established agency and ask them to assist him with the move - he's out of contract in two months' time and will already be quite far down the road in terms of contract discussions etc with at least one or two clubs.

I don't think it makes him any more likely to stay at United - that door is now surely closed.

I don't think they'll be 'free' necessarily. With those players you're looking at collectively maybe up to £100million in agent/sign on fees, and around £1.2-1.5million in weekly wages.

The tournament was more than just 1 game. He was the Europa League player of the tournament and statistically our best player.

I will drink when its official. He's the most overhyped primadonna i've ever seen. Shit mentality and obsessed with himself.

He has embarrassed the club and we should've trusted Fergie and Mourinho

Not dead, apparently, but critically ill. I don't like the guy one bit, but hopefully he will recover.

I think part of it is just a perfect storm of the fans generally having had enough with the club at the moment but Pogba doesn't have the self awareness to wonder why they are booing him. The epitome of the modern player who cares less about their job than they do the lifestyle that comes with it.

When so much of your value comes from your non-football related activities its not hard to see why so many players struggle with mentality issues. Rashford is another prime example.

Its honestly impressive that as many younger players keep their heads down considering what they get at such a young age. As the slightest hint of a future star the media go nuts. Look at Radacanu in tennis. Rashford for United. Rashford was narrating a google advert and the guy couldn't have sounded more monotone in his delivery. Media just wants a new star to push and then profit from when they fail to live up to the hype they have created.

sorry but stats don't tell a whole story... and far from best throughout the tournament if you ask me. He almost never had two good games back to back

I have never gushed over Zidane. Very good player (and much more effective than Pogba) but far from the best I've ever seen

He won player of the tournament.
Eh.. He won it because they found no one else to give the award to. We all watched the tournament. I honestly don't remember him being that influential in the run to win it. He scored some good goals in the group but that's about it.

Also, it's hilarious that we paid close to 90m for the guy and his achievements with United are winning two Micky Mouse trophies.

Pretty sure we didn't buy him to be the best player in Europe fecking League anyway.

But that's it, 6 whole years at Man United and that's what he has to show for, a League Cup and Europe League!

It's worth mentioning that in the same summer Pogba joined United for 90m, his teammate Kante joined Chelsea for 25m or something and since then won Premier League, Champions League, Fa Cup and Europe League, and guess what, he was pretty damn influential in all of them.

Not sure what this has to do with my point to be honest. It is safe to say that his United career has been a disappointment. It is not correct to say that he has done literally nothing for the club.

Did he ? Honestly apart from that goal in EL final and the comeback goals against City, Pogba has next to no other memorable games for United.
