He’s a frustrating player and his attitude has seemed appalling over the last year or so, but I do think he deserves a chance under ETH if he’s the kind of player he can use. He’s not a world beater, but he does have that ability to pull off the incredible every now and then. Either way, he would need to earn his place.

Cash in and move on. His effort has barely reached 3/10 and we need to move past giving players countless seasons in the hope they change for the better.

Even if ETH turns him around and he bangs in 30 goals next season, I’m interested to see how fans will look back on Rashford as a player.

The last 2 years have been horrific, no doubt in my mind he’s downed tools and as has been pointed out, his attitude on the pitch is absolutely stinking. There’s a slim chance he can turn this around but I reckon the esteem fans have held him in before is done, he’s gone to be fighting an uphill battle now for as long as he wears a Utd shirt.

Last season he scored over 20 goals. His performances where poor generally but I gave him the benefit of the doubt because of injuries and apparently carrying a shoulder injury for most of the season.

This season he has no excuse, he hasn't looked interested and his level has dropped to an extent that any reasonable offer I would accept.

However if ETH gives him a chance and coaches him into a system and a new renewed Rashford came out of it then happy days. The only niggling thought I'd have is if things went a bit wrong will he check out again?

Was hoping Newcastle would come in with a mega bid for him. Or possibly the Labour Party since he's so concerned with politics over his day job.

If we get Raphinha/Antony I would persist with him see how he does after a full pre season. But Also assess him during pre season whether he picks up his work rate or not.

Being out of form (albeit for what feels like is approaching over 2 years now), is one thing. But that extreme lack of effort on the pitch is inexcusable. It’s an insult to the club and to the manager/fans. I’d sell him if it means the money goes into the kitty for reinvestment.

He's very much kick and rush. His finishing is inconsistent, his general dribbling is no way near the hype and he misplaces pass too often with silly flicks every now and again. He's way behind Sterling in general play, and this is when he had a solid half season of leading the line for us.
My conclusion about him a couples years ago aged well :D

You can't have a guy stinking up the place for nearly 2 years on 200k a week and that includes the likes of martial. If we want an evolution here and real change we need to get these guys out of the club.

What happens if garnoucho, garner, mcneil...come in and become first team players next year? They'll want what rashford is on! We have to be ruthless, rashford has been awful and we need to show that if you aren't good enough you're out.

It's pretty clear he doesn't have what it takes to be a top forward at this point, couple that with the current evidence of him not being the sort of player to fight his way into a team, and I think it becomes obvious that we should move him on while we can still get decent cash for him. Even if he goes elsewhere and ends up a good player, we will hopefully sign a good player in his stead anyway, without all of the baggage Rashford brings.

Him being an academy player is overrated, given he does not possess the 1 characteristic that is supposed to define a homegrown lad, which is 100% effort and dedication no matter what.

This is where I'm at.

You can defend bad performances, but a lack of effort is the worst. And it's clear this season Rashford hasn't been giving 100%. I think back to that Villa cup game where there was a chance of a rebound to score and he just couldn't be bothered to run. One of the most glaring examples of a player not giving a shit that I've seen.

To then be leaking stories about how unhappy he is with his minutes and he wants assurances of more game time despite half arsing it all season is insulting to Utd fans

He might do if he can't keep Sancho on the right. I don't see Rashford accepting a right sided role and being a backup for Sancho, he'll have to be brilliant on the left, if he loses form and ETH uses Sancho on the left I can see Rashford struggling to get back. I don't see him being a central striker. Rashford has to nail the left hand side here or move to another club to do that there and resurrect his England chances. His England career and United place that he has known might not ever return.

He doesn't deserve to wear the shirt, if he is not prepared to even fight for this club.
I have changed my opinion of Rashford after these past 12 months.

This is what it comes down to. Despite what people like to say to defend Rashford, he isn't putting in any effort. Thats quite literally the baseline that anyone can expect from a United player or a professional in general. I never saw Dan James come off the pitch and think "god he was lazy today". Very limited footballer yes but lazy, never. Dan James wasn't on £200k/week either.

I would happily see him gone and never think about him again. I don't care if he regains his form elsewhere. That would just be another indictment on his complete lack of character as a United player IMO.

£200,000 a week and talks of a new contract ? This club will never change if we are giving this waste of space a new contract. They need to take a long look at Liverpools wage structure and look at how they perform on a pitch compared to our overpaid bunch of clowns

This is it isn’t it?

I‘m certain he’ll deny it but it’s clear as day that periods these last 2 years, he just hasn’t tried. Now there may be a legitimate reason for that, mental health, family troubles etc. however not trying is completely unforgivable. Talent isn’t a given, I’ve said for years Martial is the more talented player in my eyes. Greenwood has twice the talent that Rashford has. But looking at some of the clips this season, he should be absolutely ashamed of some of his output, I don’t know how he’s able to look back on his performances and not be utterly embarrassed.

Should he ever achieve such levels for us again on a consistent basis, not forgetting that even the Rashford of previous seasons still needed to improve to be considered a forward a club like us should be relying on, then I think the fans will quickly forget this year.

That said, any sustained periods of bad form, perceived lack of effort, and everyone will certainly remember what this year has shown us about his character*. He should have a been so invigorated by the arrival of Ronaldo that he'd run himself into the ground every match to allow him to concentrate on doing the hard bit (true of so many others).

*short of there being some extenuating circumstances yet to be disclosed, e.g. injuries, off-field issues.

Such a shame, we're here with him. Think it's fair to say that if Greenwood was available there'd be a much higher chance of Rashford being allowed to leave. Reality is that he or Martial have got to stay 1 more season given the number of players leaving.

If he regains his form - I personally don't think he will lose it again as he enters in to his prime.

If he doesn’t regain his form next year then I think he has lost it forever.

Personally, I think it would be really sad to see the lad go. When he first came through he was a boy with a lot of raw talent, who was actually putting up some very impressive numbers. While he can be incredibly frustrating (I've voiced this many times,) I don't like how a lot of the fanbase has turned against him. But there's no denying that his performances have not been good enough for some time. I mean, let's be honest, they're been woeful.

He looks broke to me, and I'm not sure if there's any way back for him here. I would love to think that EtH could get something out of him with some proper coaching, which he probably hasn't had in...forever, but honestly, I just don't see it.

As I said, I personally think it will be a sad day if he does indeed leave and would say just as much about us as a club, as it would about him.

It certainly would say something about us as a club, that we are done hanging onto players past the point where they are useful to us

There was a lengthy period where he was a good finisher and showed plenty of skill dribbling and beating players. I still hope he can reproduce that and build on it; seems like a better outlook than hoping he won’t.

He’s been off it for a couple of years but some people look at Rooney’s last couple of years and say he was overrated. Rashford’s recent poor form doesn’t mean he was never any good - he was our most effective forward for a while and I think it’s a bit soon to condemn him.
And thats the exact mentality that will see us not challenge for a title in the next 10 years.

I don't know what people are expecting from ETH, he is not a miracle worker. It's down to the player himself to want to make or have change. From what we all seen from Rashford lately tells us that is not going to be easy.

Yep, playing through injuries etc. were all seemingly valid excuses last season, to cover his poor form. That means patience and giving him another chance to turn it around. But the lack of effort is just on another level and I really can’t think up any excuses to defend that.

would love to believe this but I’ve seen literally no indication from him for months that he’s capable of going on a run.

If he was putting in the effort every game then you could forgive the lack of quality but he saunters about the pitch not arsed.

I’d actually love to see what his stats look like in terms of pressing and distance covered in comparison to his teammates in his recent outings if anyone has them.

It would say a lot more than that. Like the fact that we simply don't improve players.

Unless ETH has some incredible plans for him, if someone offered round about the 85 mil mark or above, we should let him go.
Agree. Also sell Maguire for 100 mill, Martial for 80 mill, WB for 70 mill and Jones for 40 mill and we can have a brilliant rebuild this summer.

I think for his sake he needs to be sold to be honest. I don't hold much hope for him miraculously being able to press consistently and have a feeling if we bring someone in, he's going to continue to sulk on the bench, as he's not shown any sort of fight to get Elanga out the side.

Real shame, I think he'll get his mojo back somewhere else though, just don't think it's going to be here.

I wouldn't. I'd keep him and play him as no.9 and then see if he is as good as he thinks he is.

At this point, I think it would be worth considering selling him if a really good offer comes in. Ie, North of 50 m. Although it's hardly beyond possible - or even very unlikely - that he'll get back on track under ten Hag, he seems to be in a really deep pit currently, and equally there are no guarantees he'll get out of it. And his obvious bad form is one thing, it doesn't explain his striking lack of effort in tracking back, which is something you'd normally expect to see from a player who's in a bad slump but determined to break out of it.
