Europa League / Europa Conference League 2021/22

English team losing to a German team on penalties, who could've possibly seen that coming...

Don't feed the trolls

Spare a prayer for the people and police of Sevilla tonight.
Was thinking the exact same thing. I was in Seville couple weeks ago and that heat would have meant beer drinking all day.

Those cnuts cost us our champions league parade in 07/08

Tbf excellent penalties from Frankfurt. Very few keepers are saving those.

Borre running over to celebrate in front of the Rangers fans like the good Catholic boy he (probably) is

Seems like the quality of penalties in shootouts have gone through the roof. I don't remember so many players just casually sticking pens in the top corner like Le Tissier in his pomp in shootouts before the last few years.
Every time someone smashes the ball into the top corner from the penalty spot I get violent flash backs of our utterly horrible penalty shoot out vs Sunderland under Moyes.

Respect to Rangers / Frankfurt

I think most of us enjoy seeing different Teams in Finals be it the CL or the EL

And as they aren't qualified via the league they won an additional fifth CL spot for the Bundesliga.
Hold on, so if I'm understanding this correctly, we could see Union Berlin or Freiburg in the CL next season?

Edit: Ignore me, smooth brain moment.

Frankfurt fans deserve a trophy. Those kind of crowds/atmosphere in away European competitions disappeared after the 90's.

You think Frankfurt wins the EL and their reward gets passed on to someone else?

Frankfurt get an extra spot.

Bringing somebody on last second to take a penalty. I wonder what the success percentage of that is.

Gutted for Rangers but at least Frankfurt had a passionate support who will appreciate this win. It’s games like this that makes you realise how tin pot a club like city are!

That Kamada penalty was perfect. And it just had to be Ramsay didn't it

Feel for Rangers though, what a tournament they've played. But Frankfurt's support throughout, especially that Camp Nou story makes this well deserved

It sounds like funeral now on BT Sport with these Scottish comms, two of them have disappeared and one is just left rambling on..

I've not seen any data but from memory it always seems to go wrong.

Unless he's an absolute specialist I don't see the point either. Someone who's been through at least 20 mins of play will have already gotten used to the pressure. Mistakes can be costly at any time. Someone just on is always bound to be more nervous.

Feel sorry for Rangers. This would have been the perfect tribute to the queen on the platinum jubilee and to prince Phillip(pbuh). Just wasn't meant to be

I wonder on the odds are on next seasons Europa League final being a 1-1 draw and going to penalties are right now.

As a neutral I enjoyed that. The whole vibe throughout was proper old school with fans in close proximity from the pitch and all that stuff. Frankfurt just about deserve it in the end, they should have had a penalty in normal time, had more clear cut chances and Rangers were lucky with their goal. I feel for Bassey, though, what a game he had.

On an unrelated note, I swear the quality of penalty shootouts in recent times have increased massively.
