If that were the case, imagine the demolition job, tying down deadwood to preserve value, paying way over the odds, dishing out mega contracts to average players and then bolting when the money dries up.

It could also be that Lindelof or Maguire doesn’t fancy being 3rd or 4th choice. If we sign Bastoni or Torres or Timber then one of those may say I’m off leaving us needing another.
Great! Don’t let the door hit you on try way out. I don’t think Lindelof would anyway as he’s probably walking backwards flicking his beautiful hair

He's not available though. It literally says that in the tweet.
That's what they seem to be saying openly but if both Utd and Chelsea are actively pursuing him there's probably been some encouragement or belief that Leipzig are simply posturing to get a higher offer.

Barca are going to have to lower their demands dramatically for FDJ. They have a deadline of late June to raise the funds from what's being reported. If they want Lewandowski and Raphinha they will have to sell

De Jong is counted on but the financial situation is also taken into account. Balance is needed.

With balance needed the situation for De Jong could change. The staff would prefer De Jong to be sold and replaced with a player in a similar position but Bayern want the Dutchman and Barca want Lewandowski.
Translation is a little weird but seems to suggest the manager/coaches think a player is needed in De Jong position and preferable they'd like to aquire a similar player whilst letting him go for a substantial fee. However Bayern want De Jong and Barca want Lewandowski.

  • West ham & Everton interested in Cornet who scored 9 goals this season but since Burnley got relegated this activates a £17.4 million release clause.

  • Moves also interested in Rennes Nayef Aguerd and Watford striker Emmanuel Dennis.

  • Southampton are in the race for West Ham full-back Ryan Fredericks on a free transfer.

  • Wolves have made an approach to Sporting CP to sign Portugal midfielder Joao Palhinha.

  • Rangers defender Calvin Bassey has sparked interest from several Premier League clubs after helping his club reach the Europa League final. The former Leicester City academy product, 22, is scheduled for international duty with Nigeria next week so any deal is not imminent, but bids are expected later in the summer.

Thread on Atletico Madrid's summer transfer plans:
Cholo' Simeone begins his 12th season on the red-and-white bench. Atletico plans for 2022-23 with the aim of reinforcing the right back, midfield and forward line.

Matteo Moretto
tells you how the colchonero transfer market is going.
Highlight:
  • There is full and total confidence in Kondogbia and Carrasco, despite the siren calls from the Premier League.
  • De Paul will remain in the team because he was the club's strong bet last season and the Argentine is very happy in Madrid.
  • The highlight up front is that Griezmann is staying.
  • Correa does not plan to leave.
  • João Félix is considered by the club to be non-transferable.
  • [Matheus] Cunha (a goal every 182 minutes in 21-22) will take on a greater role next season.
Also, in their search for a new striker, Atletico are considering keeping Morata around, especially since Juventus won't be triggering his purchase option. This is also contingent on Atletico not getting a good offer for Morata this summer from other clubs.

  • Felipe will stay for one more season.
  • Vrsaljko is in negotiations to extend his stay.
  • Benjamin Lecomte will leave the club with both Suárez and Herrera.
  • Oblak and Lemar:
    • Contracts expire in 2023
    • Atletico wants to keep both and extend their stays.
    • Both players want to continue with the club.
  • Lodi's agent will speak with Newcastle United soon.
  • Giménez will garner more interest from other teams.
  • Atletico's looking for a new right back.
    • Both Mukiele (RB Leipzig) and Nahuel Molina (Udinese) rejected Atletico.
    • Jonathan Clauss of Lens (awarded best RB in Ligue 1) is one of several other options.
      • Clauss isn't the primary option.
  • Atletico are looking for a Herrera replacement and have multiple options.
    • The club likes Guido Rodriguez (Real Betis), but he won't be easy to attain (contract until 2024)

Rio was levels above whatever Lindelof is meant to be
Multiple levels above. Odd how anyone would really compare them. A prime Rio would still look good in the current team regardless of the shitshow going on around him, Lindelof just melts into incognito mode.
