Will we be ready for 6th August?

The new season begins on the 6th August, just eight weeks on Saturday to get players in and coach them to play the way the new Manager wants them to play. In that time, the new players will have to find homes and schools. It’s a big ask, so will the fans give everybody some slack if we don’t make a good start? Fixtures not out yet but it almost won’t matter who we play. I also assume the International players will want a holiday too, so they may only have three or four weeks. I hope that by Christmas, ETH will have a team playing some attractive winning football.

Of course not. Wouldn't put it past the Glazers to wait and see what Ten Hag can get out of our current players in pre-season before they decide if they can be arsed spending money. They genuinely wouldn't sign anyone if they thought they could get away with it.

This coming season will be different for all, everyone comes guns blazing from the first gameweek on, as there won't be major tournaments in the summer to inteviene. So yea, we will be ready and everyone else will also - so who is better will be determined on the field.

Course we will.
Unless you mean 6th August THIS year, then of course we won't.

Nope. Couple of shambles early McFred performances could force us into a few panic buys though.

Im no fan of the Glazers and genuinely think they are leeches. But they do invest in the team. We spend a lot of money on players. They do back the managers. The only problem is that we have people who aren’t qualified spending the money. We have a team of individuals.

It was interesting to see LVG’s take on United and how he feels maybe things will work out for ETH due to Woodward leaving. I reckon the club are actively trying to get the targets in as soon as possible. I haven’t heard anything or seen anything concrete coming from any journo about any new signings. This means they don’t have a bloody clue. Maybe this is a sign of the club doing things a different way?

Lets stay positive!

Think there are a few things we need to see before the start of the season to understand if this is truly the beginning of a new regime or same ol same ol:
- Having the majority of our signings in place before the start of pre-season or at least before our first pre-season game
- Having the majority of our outgoing players gone before the start of the first pre-season game
- Seeing the beginning of Ten-hag's tactical identity on the team through the pre-season games

if instead we still see the club waiting until deadline day to bring in a cavani type signing, players that have been deadwood or wanted to leave still in the team performing poorly in pre-season, Ten Hag struggling to implement his identity then I would lean into more of the same ol same ol. I think the pressure is more on Richard Arnold to show the fans that he is an improvement on Woodward rather than a continuation of the old regime.

This argument is beyond boring and so factually untrue.

Did the world imagine over 1 billion being spent on transfers in the last decade?

The problem is not spending, its how it is spent and has been for a very long time!

You can't argue with them negative feckers mate, it's a waste of your time.

@OP, please quantify what "Ready" means. Does it mean to not get 5-0 ed by Everton and co, to win the title or to compete for 4th?

Squad (non-internationals) and staff return to Carrington for the new season on June 27 which is less than 3 weeks time too. Surely United will want at least the first player in by that time.

Being ready isn't the only problem, the season will barely have started and it'll be stopped for a month for this ridiculous World Cup!

It'll be like starting fresh again on Stephens Day.

If you have to ask the question, it usually means no. If it's United, it's more 'definitely' than 'usually'.

But you never know, they might surprise us.

Since when is new players having to get a home and schools an issue for the club ?

Ffs, get a grip. Talk about exaggeration.

I fully expect the first match of the new season, to only see about 1 new signing.

United hardly ever do early business, and with all this talk about “potential” in the existing squad, it’s clear as daylight that we won’t be getting many in this season.

De Gea

Dalot…Varane New CB… Shaw

Van De Beek… Fred… Fernandes

Sancho… Ronaldo… Rashford

That’s the lineup, I expect to see, on the first match, of the new season.

TBF, it greatly impacted Jose.

ETH is already rumored to have been viewing houses in the area.

What a weird thread.

title says we'll be ready by August 6
body of thread gives bunch of reasons making it difficult to be ready
then ends by hoping we'll be playing good football by christmas

The first few matches whichever player have the best fitness at that stage will start. It used to be this way under LVG where players were slowly ease into the team (especially after long holidays or injury). The reason being that ETH system need high work rate of pressing and running the entire match. Player without the required fitness will not be considered to start. Hence, maybe many of the international or new players may not start the first few matches because they reported back to training later

Word on Twitter is Nunez is going to Liverpool. Meanwhile United still persuading a player who doesn’t want to come. Honestly, I don’t see nothing changing. We’ll probably sign Timber but then play Maguire and Varane, as for striker I think we’ll end up making a last minute bid for and signing Richarleson.

That will be it. The justification will be that Martial, VDB, and Amad are back from loan and VDB deserve a second chance, Amad is a great young prospect and Martial deserves a 4th chance. For what it’s worth, I agree with the first two.

Thought OP was talking about players ? Even if it's the manager, what exactly is the impact.

Weird thread !!

We will not be ready. I think we will need at least 6 months to start playing somewhat properly. The squad is nowhere near physically ready and they have a lot of adapting to do.

Also, it is imperative that we make our signings early. Making transfer around and after the start of the season will set us back even further.

I don't like it when the excuses are already put before the pre-season even starts. It seems like the concept about the next season is to give as many excuses as possible for any expected awful results.

I'm not asking for like winning the league. I just want the team to start having shades of a clear identity, at least, at least by December. If there's no sign of improvement comes the end of the year, I'll be disappointed.

There’s no World Cup in the Summer. Every player will be back for pre season. We should be looking much better by the first game. No excuses.

If being ready means we have signed players then I expect we will be.
If it means we play like Ajax/City then not a chance in Hell will we be ready. I think it will take 3-4 months to get close to what TH wants us to play like.

My thoughts entirely and btw , this is then point of the thread to ask members if they have confidence that the board will actually pull their fingers out and not cock up the transfers again. If you can see that, don’t read it.
