If this means Donny getting sold then I guess it makes sense but if the plan is to keep VDB then it doesn't make much sense to me. Eriksen as a replacement for VDB/Lingard is good business.
My guess he will/can play on the right in a narrow 4231. He trained with Ajax before joining Brentford so Ten Hag is very familiar with him.

How dare they make wise choices!!

Those other signings were under Woodward also. Get your facts straight before you carry on with your little sad agenda.

Thank god for he ignore list, anyway.
These wise choices lead us to this.

Does Hag know Eriksen very well ? Am I missing something here.
Eriksen after the euro incident went and trained with Ajax and Ten Hag as he was not allowed to play in Italy anymore, and nobody wanted to take the risk.

Aren't these guys, by most accounts, ETH choices? They're two players he knows personally very well. I don't blame him coming into a job like this wanting to work with players he knows well.
You're probably right and I don't blame him. This club is clueless. I mean we spent 5 weeks negotiating for De Jong. We're in the middle of a rebuild and we've got a shitload of dead wood to get rid of and yet no one has yet signed/left that wasn't a free agent in the first place. It looks like the only players we can bring in are those ETH can personally bring in.

This is a no-brainer on a free transfer having already released a few players.

I haven't seen too much of him since he came back to the prem, but he's always been a fantastic playmaker and someone very sound technically and in position, with excellent delivery and decision making. Not sure what role he would have been promised, as a squad player or a starter. Maybe he wants to use him like Ten Hag used Tadić, as a wide playmaker? Or just part of the rotation either wide or as a 10 rotating with Bruno.

I agree we're in a bad state, but hopefully ETH can at least get a system going that would give more direction to our scouting. It seems extremely disparate currently and Murtogh has a lot to prove on the sale of our players - he's supposedly got license to put an economic value on them now.

Big upgrade on our other current creative midfield options. Hopefully we get the old Bruno back too, but you can't be certain.

In my opinion a successful team rely on three columns ie a good CEO, a good DOF and a good manager. If you ask me we've got 1 out of 3

An alternative to De Jong? Crikey

I want him as a Mata replacement but to sign him as our main CM would be silly. I’m sure the Glazers would love it though

If he's okay being a squad player, great. I think the days of him being a starter ever week at this sort of level have passed.

If we sign Erickson I think he will keep Bruno out of the team eventually. Think Erickson's decision making is better

I remember other than #10 he can play as a play maker in the right wing. He will have option this summer being a free agent. He is from the school of ajax, has lots of EPL experience, so i can understand why Ten Hag is interested in his service for his system.
You would think a front line of
Sancho - Ronaldo - Eriksen
Bruno

doesn’t have much pace to it.

For this to work need a attacking right wing back, but I know nothing about how Ten Hag will set up his team.

If we're signing Erikson then the one who'll be at the door is VDB not Bruno. Bruno is one of our finest players and he just signed a new contract. Also Eriksen will come as a squad player not as a first teamer

Maybe ETH is willing to sell VDB to raise funds. Or maybe we're keen to swap Timber/Antony for VDB

I was hoping for Antony on that right wing but I can’t be too disappointed if Eriksen comes. I don’t think Bruno can be in the same team though, him and Eriksen will just get in each other’s way

Squad rotation option with Bruno. If this keeps Bruno from his form slumping too much that is caused by fatigue/overplaying/complacency, I am all for it.

He’s only 30 and he’s been playing to a very high standard since coming back from his heart scare. He’d walk into our eleven every week if he’s able to replicate his recent Brentford and Denmark form

As a Dane, and fan of the club who sold him to Ajax, I would absolutely love it.

I can't put that bias aside, but if I try, I still see this as a sensible option. We would be getting a very clever player with great technical ability.
He's still a hard working player, but I expect that part of his game to become less prominent as he is getting older.

Still it a very good opportunity to get someone in for free, who is more than proven in the league. If we were to buy a player of his quality from another PL club, it would easily cost us 30-50m.

Good feeling about this one.

He trained with Ajax before signing with Brentford, so Ten Hag knows him. With his experience in the league and with him being an Ajax product, you would expect him to hit the ground running.
