Anyone still arguing that fans should be patient and “deals take time” needs a reality check.

no one thinks we just call Barcelona and offer them the cash and it’s done. The underlying point is that the club are atrocious at rebuilding. Went half in with RR and wasted half a season, destroying morale and getting the fans all whipped up. Hiring an interim Boss with a consultant role was for one purpose only - to allow us to plan, appoint a new manager early, to get a head start on a summer rebuild(which means outgoings as well as incomings sorted early) and having the gaffer in place with a trimmed down squad and fresh new faces to the pre season tour. The consultant would then inform work behind the scenes revitalising things likethe scouting, youth passage into the first team etc. Don’t forget we wrote off our season in December and skipped a transfer window all so we could get the jump on other clubs this summer and be all set by August. How’s that working out?

We continue to make a balls of things season after season and I would be interested to know one reason why any fan would be patient? What have the club done to warrant that type of faith?

I mean, this appears closer than ever and this is your post?

Let me save you the suspense, we are.probably signing de Jong, Eriksen quickly after and then that will probably be it if Ajax are asking too much for Antony right now.

Oh look, devilish is being miserable. Quite impressive he's kept that up for nearly 20 years now.

He was the same back when we were winning the lot. Used to constantly question every decision Ferguson made.

Club has done feck all to warrant any type of faith during the last decade and I think most of us agree that we are a mess. However the constant crying and moaning is just tiresome and people are sick of it. We just got some good news in the last days and it looks very possible we will officially agree deal for FDJ in the next few days, following by more incomings soon, and yet some of the usual suspects here still can't see anything positive in it and just come here to post their usual nonsense which has been repeated about a billion times now. But but but Liverpool signed someone in the mid of June rather than end of June :( Good for them, first trophy of the season I guess.

Something depressingly familiar with all this, everybody else are signing their hearts desires left and right ....everyone but us! Not even sure de Jong wants to come he's still in love with Barca (according to parts of Spanish press).
The OT road model might have had ( another) new respray and bodywork touchup, but under the hood the same tired old engine keeps chugging away.
Perhaps even ETH is having second thoughts?
Couldn't blame him really if he were ...
Let's see now who could really shift some shirts ???

Nah. Can’t be true. I’m reliably informed that we only focus on one target at a time
To be fair, nothing has changed. Eriksen is on a free. But after that, the series of new signings will take quite some time. If you think they will be signed on a weekly basis one by one, you are in for a surprise.

FDJ is a better signing than any player Arsenal/Spurs will make this summer. And I really can’t emphasise this enough - it’s fecking June. So them apparently being ahead of us because they’ve made some signings has zero relevance at this moment in time.
I think you need to realise that some people just love swimming in sorrow and negativity. They are lonely without it.

The club should absolutely look to save as much money on every deal they make. In this insistence, £5m is being looked down upon as a paltry sum but it all adds up when all is said and done and the window comes to a close. So 4 transfers could potentially save a minimum of £20m, which could go towards another incoming.

I also couldn't care less how quick or slow the deals are done. That has never been something I've ever given much thought to in the past and I'm not going to start now. The most important thing is to get the players in, and if we look back at two of our pivotal signings under Fergie (Ronaldo & Rooney), we signed both at the tail end of the transfer window. Veron and Ferdinand were signed in mid to late July, Dwight Yorke was signed in August, and I can add many more.

100% we don’t have unlimited funds available and even if that £5m doesn’t go towards another player it’s not like our infrastructure is perfect enough to not be able to use it elsewhere.

If this is actually done then fantastic work, end of the day he wouldn't be training with us tomorrow like the others as he was in nations league, so it's all immaterial at the moment.

Hoping for some more good news.

I've got to say that he's been consistent for 20 years and has given quite a few of us a good laugh. I don't even take him seriously anymore.

Yep, sadly straight into the pockets of the Glazer's. :(

I'm so happy about this finally being done! First big signing of the summer, hopefully we'll make two other midfield signings. De Jong is going to be huge for our midfield. Optimism is slowly starting to creep in again. :)

Exactly the way I see it, when we sign a player the goal is to have him perform at the highest level possible for at least 4 to 5 years. So I don't really care about a transfer being done 4 to 5 weeks earlier, it would be silly to target a lesser player just to get 4 to 5 more weeks out of him.

Strange timing of post considering the general consensus is that we're on the verge of completing the signing of a genuine world class player to build our team around

Who said anything about weekly? I’m wanting a new signing every day after Frenkie until the window closes

This is up there with one of the worst posts I’ve seen on here

The window has been open two weeks, not a single training session has taken place, we are close to signing ETH’s number one priority world class midfielder and you are speculating that he is regretting his decision of taking the United job - please read this many times and realise how insane that sounds.

The problem is all the people like this take every negative rumour, article, whisper as gospel but ignore any of the positive stuff. Why not believe that we’re signing 85 linked players if you’re gonna believe the other rubbish?

I’d love to know the psychology behind actively wanting the worst to be true for the club you support - it baffles me. I’m not blindly optimistic about United right now either but you’ve got to use common sense sometimes.
