It depends on what we are talking about. If it's as an intermediary then the player is not involved if it's as a signing bonus then it's generally for the player and then there is an agreement between the player and the agent to share it.

We always go for the expensive well known players because it’s easier. Liverpool always scout players and go for the unknown ones which normally turn out to be a success, they then improve the players and make them world class. We sign world class players or decent players and make them worse… if we had proper scouts then we’d be signing players with the right attitude and hunger to succeed.I believe Daniel James/Odion Ighalo belonged to this category.Didn’t think we had any scouts
I think he’s desperate to join us but because they want like 60m for him and we only want to pay like 40 then it’s going to be another long negotiation like what’s happening with de Jong only for us to go and sign him for the price they originally wanted. We’re just wasting time for no reason.
