We should if the Martinez deal means we won't go for a forward. We have 5 CBS but no one to score fecking goals
It won't make a difference. Ronaldo is on obscene wages. The saving from selling him is more than enough.

I just log on here only to find this thread. Just what in the world is our clusterfeck of a football club getting into now?

Not bothered at all. Also can’t imagine him at Bayern, don’t know why they would be interested in a declining player who wants to play all the time.

The goals will come if the coach / the system is right. The goals even came under Ole in the two seasons before Ronaldo joined after all.
And they for sure came in 2006/07 when RvN left and people were asking the same question.
Doesn’t matter how “strong” ETH is, the drama will always be there with a name like Ronaldo “will he play, will he get substituted, how will he react, blah blah” and he is just not worth all this drama anymore.
The problem I have with that comparison is that we don't have a young Wayne Rooney nor a young Cristiano Ronaldo ready to explode, even less a good core of veterans like the ones we had back then. Why in the world would our younger players need to be feeling not overshadowed by someone like Ronaldo in order to perform? For the record, Rooney and Ronaldo were showing signs of being able to pick up the torch post-RVN. Who can be said to be our next leaders capable of carrying this team into the new age when they couldn't even match a 37-year-old's effort levels last season? I see none and thus I openly question their levels of commitment into the game of football.

Are there any ‘Cavani’ type transfers we could get in as a stop gap if Ronnie leaves. We’re going to struggle to find a long term solution

That's Mendes PR crap.

Ronaldo wants to play in the CL. We won't be there next season no matter what.

Ronaldo wants to win big trophies. We won't win the league next season no matter who we sign.
It's not though is it. He wants out.

HELLO
I find it difficult to care these days about individual players. If they don't want to be here then sell as soon as possible.

Ronaldo and Pogba attitude should influence our transfer policy going forward. When you play for united the club comes first, no more self centered celebrity signings.
We buy players making the step up and not players who think they're doing us a favour, anyone who wants out can f*** off so far as they can provide a buyer willing to pay our valuation.
Really? Who cares. If they perform i dont care if they think they are doing Manchester United a favour or are self centered celebrities. Footballers these days are celebrities, brands, social media influencers and whatever else there is. If they perform, dont cause problems in the team and the club has succes i dont see the problem. I do have a problem with bad players who think they are a superstar brand even when they are very limited players. Jesse JLingz Lingard comes to mind as an example for that category.

I dont think there are many players left who have the ''earn the shirt'' and ''bleed for the badge'' attitude towards Manchester United and also have the required quality to play for Manchester United. The ''United dna'' and ''gets the club'' mentality is why we have to endure watching someone like McT play every week...

I'm not sure who could buy Ronaldo right now and I believe he might be trying to pressure the board into getting reinforcements for the team. For him to leave it would have to be for a team like Bayern Munich; otherwise there aren't many options left that can offer him challenging for major trophys. I think he's better staying in Manchester United but it's understandable he would want out or at least the team to offer a better project he can be a part of.

There's only one United!

It's "only" 25M p/y. Throw in a 15-20M fee and we'll have maybe 40-45M. You'd need more than that to get guys like Nkuku, Oshimhen etc.

I think we'll try to bandaid it or alternate between Rashford / Martial.

Exactly. A load of nonsense. He just thinks he's better than a fight for top 4.

He's old, we are not a shit club. He struggled with running last season. Stop making us out to be a millstone around an aging footballer's neck.
We are shit sporting wise and have been so for a minute. Him being old seemingly doesn’t prevent him from having suitors he believes are better equipped to win. Career of a footballer is a short one, and his is in its last act. Again, as fans we advocate for United to do what’s best for United on a daily basis and every transfer window. These players get discarded the moment their form drops, etc. Begruding them for doing the same is just a comical exercise to me.

Not as fun when the rabbit has the gun, eh? Or however that saying goes.

The game is the game.

Yep, I can see it.
Let's get a guy who plays best on the left of an attack and barely scores, as our sole striker.

Could work!
Seems to have a cracking attitude too
I'm not saying Richarlison as such, I'm saying we're not going to replace Ronaldo with a player that is similar to him because half the season, despite him scoring a fair amount of goals, people have spoken about how he didn't/won't fit the pressing game implemented by Rangnick/ten Hag.

We'd be better replacing him with a player who suits ten Hag's style, even if that player doesn't score as much goals.

In 11/12 season, we had Welbeck and Rooney as our main striking partnership, with Hernandez as back up. We all know Welbeck wasn't prolific - far from it, but when he played, we seemed to flow better in the final third because his link up play was exceptional. In my opinion, he made players around him better and as a result, that season we scored 89 goals - the second highest in our Premier League history.

Now, before you start all the emoji BS and say that I think we should be getting Welbeck, that's not what I'm saying. I just think we need someone who will link our attack a lot better than what Ronaldo did because when he wasn't scoring, he was pretty much useless.

£25m a year is £100m over a 4 year contract. Or the same annual outlay as a £50m signing on £250k a week.

What's Jovic at Real Madrid saying these days? We're looking to reignite De Jong career, maybe we'll become the rehab club

Letting go of Ronaldo and Pogba will benefit United quite a bit imo.
Pogba? No doubt. 100% and more. Ronaldo? We’ll see if We can get replacement. We are big club and should attract players but right now it is big question mark.
I’m just amazed about wages We would get off our books. Looking at it, Ed was giving money like he was Santa.

We'll be fine without him. Yes we'll miss him but if he wants to go let him.

And let's wait till end of window to judge if united are indeed a joke or have just been a slow burn
There is optimism and reality, at this point no way we are replacing with an equal level.

So implicit in the brief is that he did believe in the club’s direction last summer. I’m not sure I’d trust his judgement on much, if that’s the case.
