This feels like the Sancho signing. It'll take a long time, probably get done, fans will react like we've won a trophy and he'll not be that good. He's nothing special. We shouldn't spend so long on one player. Get it done or find an alternative, there are plenty.

It's easy to understand why ETH is pursuing him at all costs. The only leverage ETH has with top class players at this stage in his career is with de Jong and perhaps with de Ligt. United is not currently an attractive club to top players - i.e. top players who can pick between quite a few top clubs. He'll be desperate to get his managerial reign off to the best possible start and we've not had a competent midfield for more than a decade. It's the main fault in the team, however poor we are in other positions.
