This is very similar to the Sneijder saga in that it’s the same crap being reported over and over that never seems to get any further down the line.

I don't think i've seen a transfer like this ever

One hour he's staying, the next he's leaving.
It’s absolutely mental due to the deferred wages thing, it’s so rate for a transfer to hang on negotiations between the player and his current club.
Added to that, in public you’ve got Laporta coming out wit bat shit crazy stuff about wanting to keep him, and the player being put in a position where we cannot say anything other than that he intends to stay.
Every single journalist seems to know without any shadow of a doubt now that Barça have negotiated his sale and that United and Barça have come to an agreement on that. What none of them are privy too is de Jong actual thoughts on the matter, so they are scatter gunning it.

Romano had tweeted the same stance for about 3 weeks on a daily basis, because he hasn’t a fecking scooby where the player is really at with all this.

With 2 lads spotted at Barcelona head offices I would say this transfer going in the right direction.

3 weeks till season kicks off so Ten Hag will want him in asap, training and couple of friendlies under his belt and ready to go.

Again, negative so it must be true.

Let's see what goes down when he's put in the realistic position of having his wages slashed or being told to get out.

It seems like every negative tweet is siezed upon as the absolute truth.

I think he's just keeping us as a fall back option, he doesn't want to tell us no as we will move on to other targets and he'll no longer have that option. United keep briefing that he's open to the move as that's what they are being told.

It's seems the only way he comes is if it's made clear to him that he isn't in Xavi's plans.

Imagine working your entire life to get to the club of your dreams, then doing them the massive favour of deferring your wages in order to help them through a financial crisis and then they try to shaft you into writing off the money or forcing you to leave so they can strengthen elsewhere without paying you the money.

Brutal world is football, I'd be pissed if I were him.

It absolutely is not getting done that quick.

If its done at all it'll be deadline day, either we cough up the deferred wages in a panic or we take whatever is left over at the end of the night.

These recent update tweets are just rehashed stuff aren't they.

I think De Jong is going to refuse to leave and Barcelona will be contractually bound to pay him. Could get ugly.

Why on earth would he even begin to consider a pay cut when they are splurging a fortune on new players.

This works both ways tbf, you've latched onto any positive spin that's tweeted and use it to bash down other posters who believe otherwise on this deal.

TBF, Ducker and Dawson have tweeted nothing new today at all other than FDJ wants money owed to him, we knew that about a month ago.

Again think of it this way... if he was saying he wants to stay in public, why would he go and tell his team mates he wants to leave? He knows that would be leaked right away and screw him over.

He's giving Barca absolutely nothing to cling on to in the hopes of getting out of paying wages and bonuses. You have to look at the wider picture and apply some logic to it. Yes some players may say they're leaving to team mates and they're staying to the media, but it doesn't work out well for them I'd imagine

Barca are playing with fire and probably approach this thinking another club will make a better offer that helps offset the salary spike or deferral in the contract. I’m assuming out offer is acceptable if De Jong agrees to forego any of the payments. Can they keep him until Next summer or is that detrimental for their salary structure?

Fair point, but the negatives are just rehashed news with bits and pieces added to spruce it up a little.

Respected journos post something positive and its shot down as rubbish. Negative tweets are posted and people go into meltdown and it's deal off etc.

Surely he respects Ten Haag enough, to be honest with him, and if he really wanted to stay at Barca he would tell him that and that would end our pursuit in him? Not buying it.

Domenech reporting that his farewell is in order even with him in training after he reported the agreement between clubs earlier this week

I'm sure, think he'll go to the top. Can see him being moulded into a Gerrard type player actually. Great a driving forward with the ball, scores goals, good passing.
Potentially but not right now. We need somebody for now.

To think, the Glazers might get away with a summer in which they reduced wage bill by £1.5m/week and finish the window with a net spend of £50m. All that after our worst season in living memory and with a new manager who needs players for his system.

And the worst thing is, I think many of our fans will buy it/not have any major grievances.

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Ah the Sneijder saga was great - it was before news broke on social media - I remember seeing the image of the back page of the Sunday Mirror with the Bates story about us agreeing a 40m deal and being so excited - only for Fergie to go fecking ape at him in public the day after denying it was true

Its clear that he doesnt want to come, he wants to stay and play for them. Maybe the higher ups at Barca wants to sell, and maybe Xavi doesnt want to. We should move on before we're left with todays Fellaini

Or his third option, do neither of them. They can't force him out if he digs his heels in and they can't force him to reduce his wages/forfeit the money they owe. Barcelona have to be the bad guys they always try not to show themselves to be if they want him out

The "positive" tweets are exactly the same as I've said above.

Ducker and Dawson haven't told us anything new, just that the United lads have left and FDJ wants his money.

Respected journos post something positive and its shot down as rubbish. Negative tweets are posted and people go into meltdown and it's deal off etc.
Reality is none of us know, I've just gone off my gut instinct and for any number of reasons I want us to walk away. I think you see it this way cause you want the deal to happen so badly, of course you'll get some folks go from one extreme to the other.

I agree with the poster here who said its the worst transfer saga we've been attached to and that is really saying something.

This has Cesc AND ADM vibes about it along with a horrible deferred wages situation as well that can and will likely drag out for another 6 weeks at least.

Theres been worse transfer sagas in my opinion. I don’t think it helps that the club we’re dealing with, love to play politics in a public setting via the media because of how their club structure works where someone is elected in, as well as their precarious financial position which ramps it up even more.

I‘d be interested to see how other fan forums who are linked with their players are reacting. I can see a Leeds forum just wanting to get the Raphinha deal over with so they can buy a replacement in time for the season start.

I still think he wants to stay in Barcelona. His new house is being built and I am not sure if his girlfriend (soon to be wife) would like to leave as well. He has no reason to leave Barcelona if he still has his contract. It could be the case that he tries his to be a first team player next season.

I would stick with this one tbh. I don't see how it makes sense for Barca to hang on to him. Yes they have to pay a load of deferred wages to get rid, but they will anyway have to pay that and more if they keep him plus miss out on a transfer fee. All for a player they don't really want.

FdJ isn't going to blink. We're not going to blink. So Barca will have to or else cut off their noses to spite their faces.

Frenkie is just holding out for his owed wages. I’m sure he’s told ten hag that he will come. Basically telling Barca “where’s my money” and “ I’m not Fecking leaving” till I get it.

This deal is such a rollercoaster.

Within the same page you have a journo claiming he doesn't want to move etc. Few posts later and deal is imminent.

It just goes to show none of them have a single clue whats going on.
Yeah like the Pepsi Max at Blackpool, god showing my age calling it that

Keep a clean shit tomorrow, United is my final bus
Does that mean he'll get payed if he moves to United or I misinterpret it.
If he stays, Barca only pay him back over the length of his current deal. The 17m euros is paid incrementally. If he leaves then he wants it all now. Barca don't stand to gain a lot from the sale if that is his demands.

There isn’t a player from Birmingham except for Jack Grealish… that believes they are better than Jude Bellingham.

What a joke statement. Yes he played well against us but that’s a hyperbolic view. He’s bang average and I’m sure Villa would love to take our money if we was stupid enough to give them what we are offering De Jong.
That's the true joke statement. Christ.
