They can't be included in any of the La Liga matchday squads. They'll basically be paid to train and play in European competitions, friendlies, and the Copa del Rey.
They should have done with de Jong signing and moved on. Because of barca many teams stood still with their ridiculous attitude.

The Vidal thread is why I try to stop myself checking this forum during transfer windows. It crippled me.
Same and Sancho 1.0 was really grim going too. That almost totally killed me off hardcore muppeting. Just intermittently buzzing around now waiting for the real story to eventually break. Can’t miss that at this stage but holding back from posting in here multiple times every day or getting hung up on tweets from attention seeking nobodies only trying to gain followers. Feck that. They are just cashing in on the fact Utd are popular and do transfers like sadists.

Unless Barca agree to pay De Jong 17m that they owe, this wont end. All this public posturing of “want to stay at Barca” is just about deferred wage.

Seems a bit obvious at this point. To everyone but the muppets of course.
Most tier 1 journalist have mentioned otherwise. This is an unprecedented situation where a club is refusing to pay wages. So any story planted by their agent has to be seen in that context. There is a reason why most of our journalist mention that we are relaxed about the situation. People need to relax about “doesn’t want to leave Barca” stories.

If Barca doesn’t pay then this deal will collapse unless we pay. If we refuse it and Barca cant get salary reduction, then they have to pay much more than 17m that they owe to FDJ. Both United and FDJ agents know that, so unless Barca budge, nothing will happen. And they cant register without selling no matter whatever levers they do. They have salary limitations which they need to overcome by selling players

Or that he wants to stay at Barca.
He really did want it but now its not that case. No self respecting person will continue at a workplace which refuses to pay what is owed and ask you to take salary cut while spending lavish amounts on new recruits. This “stay at Barca” stuff is just public posturing now. Unless FDJ is incredibly stupid to be taken for a ride by Barca, this public posturing is actually a smart move. He has Barca by the balls and there is no reason why he should budge

He may very well want to stay, but Barca sure as hell dont want him and them forcing him to take a pay cut is prime example of this
They can’t force him to take a pay cut. How many times must the same things be repeated in this thread.

Someone summed it up best when they said this saga is like a rollercoaster, got off to quick start with the 95% Romero thing, then came the dip for weeks until Monday when we were speeding along with Murtough & Arnold flying into Barcelona, however have now left seemingly empty handed so we are dipping yet again.

It probably does as it would for any professional in any industry being swindled of wages while the company actively recruits others for big money at the same time...

His agent has the right idea being appalled by the way they're treating his client. Just hope he can take his blaugrana tinted shades off soon

Yes and there are reports now that Barca is now pressuring Xavi to exclude him from squad or atleast threaten FDJ that he wont be starter. FDJ knows he cant be forced to take salary cut but why should he waive deferred wage as well. When Barca agrees to pay that, dont think his intention to stay will be that strong considering he isnt wanted there

They cannot, this is true. They also cannot register him plus their new signings so they either pay all their new stars and don't register them in the league or they pay FDJ and don't register him. In this unlikely event the Barca media machine will launch into a full on assault on Frenkie branding him a mercenary who is destroying their special club and make his life a living hell. If you doubt this just look at how they have treated others they wanted rid of in the past. A deal over the deferred wages will be reached before the start of the new league year in Spain and then he will be off, there is not another plausible outcome.

Exactly. He has Barca by the balls so he can do whatever the hell he wants. So to assume the stay talk is just posturing is pure muppetry. Perhaps he really is thick enough to think can reestablish his position there. Perhaps he just loves the city. Who the feck knows ? No one. It is pure fecking poppycock from the muppet brigade.

I cannot believe i skimmed 20 pages to read that "this is ETH's first strike because he won't walk away", that "we should walk away because i'm so bored and tired of refreshing the thread".

If you're so sick of it, go camp in the Martinez thread. Once again we have Ducker confirming 2 days ago that we got the green light from FDJ's camp to continue negotiations, Mitten/Whitwell confirming the same thing, Romero confirming the same thing.

If you are overwhelmed with this saga, then just go away. Go camp the Martinez/Eriksen threads. FFS.

I doubt if it is only 17M that is pending
And we will have to pay it to end this. And we may do it actually.
We have refused to intervene and to be honest i agree with the stand we have taken. We may get FDJ bit late but paying him what Barca owes will set bad precedence and if we dont want to be mugged always, we need to take a stand on it no matter how much public outcry is going to happen if this fails. Think both United and FDJ agents know Barca dont have any other option but to sell, so they are all bidding their time as much as possible. The longer it takes, more pressure on Barca to get it done. Right now they haven’t registered even the free transfer signing and want to buy 120m worth players on top of it.

Not true as most of the journalists that get information from the club have said FDJ is open to move. Romano gets his information from agents. Hence his version is different from Ducker or Laurie.

That depends on what the provisions are. What seems to be the widely accepted knowledge was that the deferred wages was outlined in an annex that stated his payments for the two seasons would be paid as part of his remaining salary from the coming seasons. If that original contract is terminated due to a transfer they could argue that the extra salary was part of his normal salary they they no longer need to pay since he will transfer to another club.

It's not as straight forward always. People say that it would be thoughtless of De Jong representation to let him sign a deal that didn't outright guarantee him the remaining funds in the event of a sale. This wasn't necessary, since a sale depends on De Jong agreeing to it. So he still has the power to get his outstanding salary paid to agree to a sale, which is where we are now.
I just can’t believe that’s true this is pretty basic legal

If FDJ signed anything that took guaranteed payments and made them conditional instead he’s a moron.

In those negotiations FDJ would have had all the power from a legal standpoint.
