It absolutely is an anti-Bayern move, as their own CEO implied, but I could see it happening as a marriage of convenience for one season.

He'd get to pad his trophy case and scoring record with success in yet another top, but less demanding, league while Bayern would be able to field a team capable of winning another CL title.

If the rumors that he'd be willing to take a big paycut then I could see them biting if it doesn't break their wage structure. They could easily justify it to their fans and it would be a PR boon for the Bundesliga as a whole.

I feel like Mendes will exhaust every single option to get him there by windows end and I think Bayern could well end up coming to the conclusion that it would be worth it for one season coming off the back of losing arguably their greatest striker ever in Lewandowski.

Just hope that we could get a decent fee if that ends up being the case. We'd definitely be better off starting the new era with a fresh/clean slate by binning him off
He's over the hill, has an overinflated ego, doesn't run, wants everything to evolve around him, and commands wages beyond what's possible at Bayern. He'd make our team worse, just as he made Juve and your club worse. Our board seems to have noticed that, too, and that's why this has been officlally debunked by both Kahn and Salihamdzic, in clear words.
He won't be a Bayern player, no matter hiow much you want to be rid of him.

They are definitely dark horses.
World Class: Dias, Cancelo
Very good: Pepe, Ronaldo, B Silva, Fernandes
Good: Patricio, Mendes, Palhinha, Neves, A Silva, Jota, Leao
Good players but not a great team, they failed to qualify automatically and were lucky to avoid Italy in the playoffs. Both games against Ireland they were poor enough and there were similarities to Man United with Ronaldo making a team worse than the sum of their parts. I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t go any further than the last 16 in Qatar.

I can’t see Bayern going for it either, I didn’t want him back, and yes I did cheer at the goals he scored last year,
I’m sure if we have to keep him ETH will get something from him, but can’t see him playing every game, and I can’t see the team being structured just to suit him.

He'll get to see so many new stadiums. And I'm sure, there are lots of Ronaldo fans in Plovdiv, Tbilisi, or Archangelsk who'd love to finally see him on their turf.
But seriously, if Lewa leaves do you have enough firepower upfront to win a CL?
I dont think you need a new striker to win the league but Ronaldo is a different animal in CL, wouldn't it be beneficial to you ?

Last season he scored 24 in a team with no structure, no confidence, no hope. Imagine what he can do under ETH.
But we as a team scored considerably less than before he joined, with Bruno, martial, Rashford all struggling with him. Its not a surprise to see why they struggle too and how Ronaldo has a negative impact on them on the pitch. Our team and Ten Hag's system isn't made to have a poacher who does nothing off the ball.

They are missing a coach which is the most important thing. They won't hit the level of Netherlands, Germany or Spain as they dont have a system or top coaches like those 3.

They didn't really have that when they won the Euros either. You can't discount the luck factor in knockout tournaments and they have enough quality players to go along with it. I don't see them winning either but I don't think they'll do terribly either.

I think goals will be more spread under ETH and we wont be so naive in our set up to rely on Ronaldo to bail us out of games.

Bayern might become an option since Lewa deal is close to completion.

So bored of this rhetoric that we were set up solely to suit Ronaldo last year given that we continued playing the same system we had played the previous season and asked him to play as a lone striker which he had never done for consistently period of time in his 20 year club career.

Surely if we were set up for Ronaldo we’d have played him off the left where so much of his best football came from or in a two man strike pairing like Rangnick said he’d asked him to consider?

I am far from a Ronaldo apologist but this argument keeps cropping up and it’s both incredibly lazy and isn’t even close to the reality.

No team not run by idiots will sign a 37 year old Ronaldo to ssiiiiuuuu on their team chemistry. So with Barca out of the question we are stuck with him.

Bayern need a stop gap striker and their is no other better striker available then Ronaldo.

2 year deal makes sense for both parties. Slots right into the Lewa slot, they get to rest him in the bundesliga come KO time in the CL where he always plays out his mind. See last season carrying United out of the groups.

Sure but that euros didn't have any good coaches in it. There's always the element of luck, but with 3 top nations with 3 excellent coaches, I don't see any other team winning it (don't know enough about Argentina tbf though I have my doubts). I think they'll do their usual Ro16/quarter finals exit depending on the draw (forget what my bracket looked like).

People would be crazy to doubt him being successful at Bayern. I think that's exactly what will happen, maybe not win, but close. Ronaldo would be a massive success there, he scored 18 goals in the worst United side I have ever seen, put him in an easier league with a top quality team, child's play.

Bayern are run by clever footballing people so I have doubts that this deal makes much sense financially for them. They got 50m for Lewa they will find a striker that fits them.

I mean that's hardly beyond the realm of expectation. The Bundesliga is not an elite tier league (sorry resident Germans) so he'd probably have no issues scoring minimum 25 goals there. As for the CL, Bayern are one of the European heavy weights, so adding the greatest CL player ever to their ranks gives them a favourable chance to win the thing. It's precisely why Mendes is whoring him to them at every given opportunity, Ronaldo knows its the perfect move for him at this point.

100% truth.

I don't really get the narrative that he scored XX goals and that's why we need him. I guess they look at the sport like it's a line item and not as a team.

I thought Bayern pretty much shut this down already?
Rumour floating around that Bayern are willing now after selling Lewa. Most likely will know by next week as his family issues have been resolved

Might be a good stop gap for them but i'd find it funny if they turned him down.

Did Haller press that much under Ten Hag ?

He probably said that because of the narrative circling round that Ronaldo makes his teams sink. I’ve already seen on other social media platforms where people think if Ronaldo signed for Bayern, they’d lose the Bundesliga to Dortmund and Nagelsmann would be sacked by December.

Need a backup if he stays and a starter if he leaves of course. So let's say Kaladzic/Brobbey (backup) or Shick/David (starter)

I keep reading this about his last Juve season. As if they improved after he left or something. They didn't. They did worse.

20/21: they finished 4th, with 78 points, and scored 77 goals - Ronaldo leading scorer in Serie A with 29 goals.
21/22 - after Ronaldo left, they also finished 4th, with less points (70) and scoring far less goals (57). And conceded almost identical goals - 38 and 37, so not as if they became better defensively without him. They also at least won the Coppa Italia in 20/21, whereas they finished trophyless last season. And reached the same stage of the CL both years.

So how does that add up to Ronaldo being the one making them worse, when they actually did worse after he left?

They would be silly to do so. Their ultimate goal is the CL and their is no player you would take on your team over him to win the CL

Due to the Bundesliga being a walk they can afford to rest him accordingly and have him as fit as possible in time for the CL.

By the time his contract is done they will have located their future ST.

No brainer in my view.

Would go all in for Schick as replacement, like this Osmihen guy but not a chance we can afford him, De Jong and RW.

I haven’t watched Bayern for a while but is he not similar to Lewandowski these days? Do they rely on him to press that much?

Could see Ronaldo doing really well if he went there, even if it was for a year. Could also see Ronaldo wanting to add the Bundesliga to his collection too.

But as a team, what are they like? Listing individuals in 'tiers' means little on its own when you look at some of the squads that have crashed and burned at World Cups previous. Having said that, I don't follow Portugal NT so perhaps they are a good team as well as talented individuals.
I'm not calling them favorites ... I'm saying if things fall into place, they could go all the way. They are not a poor team by any definition.

People put too much attention on Ronaldo.

Juventus failed to win the Champions League for 20 years and that's why they brought him. They were on an insane streak in the Serie A which he helped extend but it was bound to end with Inter & Milan plotting to take them down eventually. Main thing was the CL.

United failed to win the Premier League for 10 years. Last trophy 5 years ago. On and off the Champions League qualification. How much worse did he make the team in the big picture?

He reached projects that hit a wall in some way and thought he was a magical solution. When truth is he's past his prime. He wasn't the solution but to claim that he "Destroys" teams is too much.

Bruno, Martial, Rashford all struggling without him last season too. They only had 1 win in 11 games without him starting/playing. While Martial loan move to Sevilla has been massive failure.

I agree though. As Ronaldo fans, I only wish him to move there, if there is no way he would stay with us. At this stage of his career, Bayern would be best move for him, his best chances to score more goals, win more trophies, and extend his record in CL, and also new challenge in top 4 league, as he has already won literally everything in England, Spain and Italy (every league titles, domestic cups, super cups, top scorers and best player awards)

You must be on a wum if you think Rashford and Martial were duds because of Ronaldo. And I thought blaming De Gea for Harry Maguire's pathetic season was enough wum on the forum.

I couldn't give a feck what's best for him. I only care about our team, and apologies but I find the idea of being a 'Ronaldo fan' a little odd, but each to their own.

Honestly, I just want him out of the club. Twice now he's tried to force a move out, and frankly this isn't 2009, we don't need to move heaven and earth to convince a 37 year old diva to stay at our club. The sooner he fecks off to Bayern, Saudi, or whoever takes him the quicker we can focus on rebuilding the team properly.
