Man it’s
This will happen we’re in past our balls now with this whole saga. All I’ll say is that remember when we signed varane on the 15th August, we had been continuously linked with him over and over and eventually he came. I’d imagine just before the season starts we’ll get a here we go and sometime after the Brentford game we’ll get a confirmation

We have finished above Chelsea in 2 of the last 3 seasons but they way everyone goes on about us you would think we regularly finish in mid table. I myself ended up drinking the cool aid too until a few days ago and saw our record as 2nd, 6th, 3rd, 2nd then 6th in the past 5 seasons. The doom and gloomers would have you think we have been horrendous. Trophies should be our biggest criticism.
Absolutely!

Deepthroating information to Howard Nurse.
Always seemed to be a strange sense of self deprecation and self doubt amongst United fans.
We are a great, and a huge club and we are just as attractive for sporting reasons as any of the other top clubs.
It’s just the media negativity these days. Everything about the club is incredibly toxic with online Twitter meltdowns and the media lap it up. Last summer we’d just finished second and people were trying to convince everyone that Varane would never choose Manchester United over the great Chelsea. This summer people think Arsenal are a better proposition which is by far the most absurd thing I’ve ever fecking heard. Manchester United really isn’t a tough sell if ETH is the coach he appears to be.

120 more pages. Yikes.

Anything to report?
He went on the tour, massive meltdown on the caf. All the top journo's have confirmed we still want him and we have been given the green light by him to continue the process. We agreed a deal with barca, there's nothing left to negotiate. Arnold and Murtough were spotted in Barcelona for talks. Barca director has confirmed they need to sell players to meet Fair Play terms. With the implication that FDJ would be sold.

The best guess around why it's taking so long is FDJ seeking a barca compentsaion payout/deal. It's all a mess.

If you see it from the financial side only, you are right. He can stay put and collect his contractual wages.

However, being at a club who doesn't want you and wants you out ASAP, isn't a good and nice working environment. He is reaching his prime years as a footballer and needs to play regularly. Being a fringe player or even outcast will hamper his further development significantly.

I only see a lose lose situation here..
They can't afford to don't play him. Him staying means all the money spent on buying players this season is flushed down the drain cause they can't register the new players. It also means they cannot afford to pay such high wages just to bench him or make him play with the reserves. It also makes Barca look even worse than they are right now.

I do think having the protection clauses would make life easier and also look more professional, but that's a problem for the agents, I guess. It's a sad situation for FDJ, but he still holds all the cards.

This'll run till deadline day won't it :(
I believe so, there or thereabouts. Regardless we will be playing our 5 league match of season on September 1st and three days away from game 6. Hopefully we won’t be mid table at that point, having not addressed the midfield issue by then and have had to rely on McCrap.

Big risk waiting in my opinion, so hopefully (wishful thinking) there will be a 100% he is or isn’t coming way before then, so it gives us time to get someone else in if needed.

It’s obvious we are preparing to wait until after the season starts. There has been multiple articles stating such. This transfer is about the next 3/4 years not the first 3/4 games of the season. It’s unfortunate that it’s not been wrapped up earlier but it’s a complicated deal and by all accounts we remain confident.

Thereeee they are.

Knew it wouldn't be long before Sport decided to throw more BS into the ring for giggles.
I think sport have actually held and parroted every imaginable position on FDJ. Didn't they also say that Chelsea's team traveling to Barcelona was to dicuss FDJ in a hijack move?

Yep... they first said something along the lines of:

"de Jong doesn't want to go to United, he quite likes the idea of Chelsea and will do everything possible to make that happen" That was when the Chelsea links occured first

"de Jong isn't interested in Chelsea at all and if he was to leave FC Barca, then his priority is Manchester United" That was when the Chelsea links dried up

"de Jong is open to leaving the club, but there is absolutely no chance he wants to go to United and he has told EtH this as has his agent" That was their last "update" and they've stuck with it since

Now it's everything is pointing towards him staying. They need banning, and quick

Tbh though if we didn’t have ten Hag he would not even deem us worthy of a second of thought. But alas, as it is now i think he wants to join but wants the wages he is owed out of principle.

I think ten Hag knows de Jong's character enough to know he's not a fanny like Di Maria. If this bloody thing happens, but the way Barca are spending, the money has to come from somewhere, even if you sell off naming rights for the shitters...

It’s really weird. It’s like the constant assertions that we’re mid table and half of our team wouldn’t get into relegation battlers, whilst we’re finishing at worst 6th and being deemed underperformers.

We’re still a big, massive club. We’ve plenty going for us in every sense, people mock stuff like the “x amount of Instagram followers” but to a lot of players it’s important to grow their own brand! They want to retire at 35 so the more endorsements they get the easier it makes life, and we’re regularly in the Champions League (and with the bullshit new format will be even more regular). The only reason we look so poor domestically is that there’s two unstoppable juggernauts at the moment (albeit I think one is definitely starting to look a bit shaky and the other has a manager who could walk any time) making everybody else look bad.

We’ve a good side who had a bad year last year, and this mindset you raise from the fans was actually quite a major part of it. Constantly attacking our own players regardless of their performances and the like, it’s no wonder everybodies chins were glued to their rib cages.

I really hope the negativity attached to certain players from sections of our fan base stops now. Lots of people are going to be very upset that Ten Hag rates people that they don’t and we all kinda just need to get behind it, or at worst just be silent towards who you don’t like. Don’t sing their name, it’s fine. Don’t tag them in shitty Twitter posts either, for that matter.

EDIT: this definitely just became a mindless rant at some point

I don't know about everyone else but a part of me hopes this burns now. Just completely feck Barca at last moment, get Neves and Tielemans instead. Man that clearly isn't bothered about coming being pushed out by a cartel. You got to admire how shameless Barcelona are, absolute jokers. Buying players and not wanting to pay there staff. Like a drunk man running a bar tab on credit with no money. Can't wait to they become rangers 2.0, horrible self righteous club, that's soulless.

Sounds about right, and if we end up with Neves and Tielemans and they end up being absolutely bang average for us, people will be whinging and saying why did we give up on de Jong.

Think the thing with those two is they come up with the odd spectacular goal. That's it. ETH wants more than that. Neither would come cheap and he doesn't want them, he want Frenkie.
